Rose for my Beloved- Chapter Two

Zexion had led me to a door that I knew all too well. Vexen's. We both knew that he despised me with a passion, and I gladly returned his feelings of hatred. I gave my friend a pleading look.1

"Really, do we have to come here?" I groaned.2

"He might have something, so suck it up," he barely had to knock on the door before the old man came.3

Over his black coat he had on a multi-colored apron that must have been white at one time. His forehead was creased as if there was something important going on, which was highly unlikely. He shot daggers at me behind his goggles.4

"Vexen," Zexion said mono-toned, and number four turned, smiling.5

"Zexion, what can I do for you? I was just in the middle of an experiment consisting of--"6

"Save it for later. We need a love potion."7

"'We'? Oh..." he made a look of disgust towards me, "I was wondering why you brought THAT along."8

"Shut up and give it to me," I growled. 9

"Show some respect to your elders!" Vexen snapped, "Besides, I don't have one," he gave Zexion a sympathetic look, "I apologize, but I haven't made that yet. Fear, sadness, anger, yes, but no love. That's difficult."10

"Thanks anyway," he mumbled, and walked off. I gave Vexen a final glare before I followed Zexion.11

We ended up in his room; more like a library if you ask me. The walls were covered with shelves of books. They ranged from romance to horror, fantasy to nonfiction, mystery to humor. Apparently there wasn't enough room on the shelves, because there were several piled neatly on the floor.12

While I sat lazily on his bed, Zexion was pacing back and forth, mumbling random things that I couldn't understand. Maybe I didn't want to understand, beacuase he looked like he was going to tell me something, then shook his head and went back to his ramblings. Finally, he looked at me with wide eyes and smiled.13

"I've got it!" he said, his usually blank blue eyes sparkling.14

"Should I be afraid?" I asked seriously. Some of Zexion's schemes weren't the safest, nor the gentlest.15

"It's all based on opinion. Now, from all the books I've read, girls always fall for the one they can't have! Be he a vampire, gay, or already taken. Seeing as you are not a vampire nor gay, I've decided that you will be taken!"16

"T-taken?!" I narrowed my eyes, "How's that going to happen? I only have eyes for Larxene."17

"We explain the situation to either Namine' or Xion, and then you 'ask them out'. Do you see the brilliance of my plan?"18

"Sort of. But--" before I could say anything more, he grabbed my wrist yet again and started sprinting out of the room.19

"Don't talk, just go with it!" I could hear the exhilaration in his voice. That was definitely not a good sign.
