The Blooded Knife_chapter 5

Emily jumped up. "Your crazy."1

"Sunny, listen, I had too. You would have died if I hadn't. I'm sorry.2

"Your a liar! I'm not a vampire, or any weird blood sucking thing and neither are you!"3

"Sunny..." She cut him off. "You need help. Get a psychiatrist or something, I'm going." She strode to the mouth of the cave.4

"You can't." Emily spun around. "And why not?"5

"You'll kill somebody. You can't resist the smell of blood." As an after thought he added. "And neither can I. That's the reason I was at your house to begin with. I was in the perimeter and I smelt the blood coursing through your veins. Fortunately I was able to resist it then but when you tried to commit suicide... all that blood... I just lost control." During this speech he didn't meet Emily's eyes once. Something told her he wasn't being all truthful but she let the feeling slide. "So you didn't drink my blood to save my life, you did it because you were hungry."6

"What am I saying? You don't drink blood. You may have saved my life and I thank you for that, but I'm going now." But even as she said this she felt a undeniable craving to sink her teeth into a human being and suck out its life juices.7

She was at the mouth of the cave when a black shape appeared in front of her. She blinked and instead it was Brian in front of her. "What the...?"8

"I wasn't lying to you Sunny. You go out there and you'll lose control. Your new to this, you'd go on a killing spree, and I can't let that happen."9

Emily tried to go around him but he stepped in front of her. "Let me through." She demanded. Again she attempted to go around him, but Brian thwarted her yet again. "Let me through!" She screamed and started to beat his chest with her fists. "This isn't happening, this isn't happening..." She muttered to herself in a frantic whisper. Brian held her to him and patted her hair awkwardly. It had been so long since he'd had any physical contact with another living creature that he wasn't really sure how to react.10

Emily pulled away. "I'm sorry. It's just... I didn't like my life but I don't think being secluded to a cave will be any better then my previous life." Brian opened up his mouth as if to say something but closed it with a shake of his head. Emily was to distressed to notice.11

Brain sighed. "You and I should get some sleep. Technically we don't need to, but it always makes me feel a bit better." She snorted, walked back into the cave and lay down. Brain walked over to the side of the cave opposite to where she was sleeping, lay  down and closed is eyes. Just before he drifted off he thought about how nice it was to finally have someone to talk to. It had been such a long time.12
