We Knew What You Never Guessed

Tissues disintegrate but the tears are all gone. Pity is worthless and feathers sweep across the floor. The curtain are shut, the windows locked tight, everything is dark but there are no shadows. Shadows are things that you do not know, that you cannot control. That you fear and douse with hatred. Your lungs are on fire, matching your mind. The pictures you hung are crooked, but you can’t see them anyway. Your eyes are closed, you wish you could keep them like that forever, never to see, never to know, never, never, never. The words are sung in your head making you wish you would never ever again hear anything, scratching at your consciousness and begging, screaming to be let in. You sink to the floor with no help of gravity, your old wooden chair knocked over with the effort. You’re as good as gone.1

We all knew this would happen.
