Rainbows scatter across the street,
tripping me up and letting me slide into the concrete.
I smile and laugh even as I try to deny,
the crows making it impossible to fly.1
Nightmare after nightmare waiting in my head,
the basement door is open, torn to shreds.
I smile and laugh even as they crawl their way out,
footprints on the stairs leaving no room for doubt.2
Storm clouds span across the sky,
with my mouth shut I can’t say goodbye.
I smile and laugh even as I feel like I’m taken away,
the stripes of the rainbow turning into a field of grey.

Wow! This is fantastic.
I'm not sure what it's supposed to be about but I kind of have and idea. The imagery is wonderful. My favorite line is the last one: "The stripes of the rainbow turning into a field of grey."
You're a fantastic poet. I can't wait for your next work.

This is so creepy. The background doesn't match at all. It kind of does but it doesn't. Like.... is the person going crazy?
