Angel's Demon: chap 1 : Treaty

I stood there waiting for Krad. Jenna waited next to me. I looked around the dark forest clearing. It was sunset. The orange, pink, and fading red lights played across Jenna's dirty blond hair. She looked almost transparent. Her pale skin, her long white robe. She was everything I would've hoped for in a guardian angel. Warm, soft, and my only best friend. I watched as her jaw hardened, I looked up. 1

Krad was nineteen, two years older than I. He was very different from me. Skin a little more rough and tanned than my ghost white color. His eyes were a mix between blue and brown. With light blond hair, lighter than Jenna's, like pale gold. Jenna eyed his demon with distrust. 2

The grim reaper was a dark shadow to Krad's right. I couldn't see his face through the thick fog that seemed to hover over him protectively. He wore a massive gray cloak that covered even his hands if he had any. One end of a sleeve was draped around the handle of a blade that curved downward as if bowing to the ground. 3

My hair blew around my face as a sudden gust of wind hit my back. The dark auburn locks pushed to cover my face and I pulled them back with irritation. I should just cut the damn stuff, I thought to myself. Krad smiled at me from across the clearing. I frowned, feeling wholly uncomfortable.4

"Jenna," he nodded to her without looking away from me. "Natalie," he said his eyes roving from my face to my feet and then back up again. His grin was meaningful and threatening. Jenna gripped my arm. Despite her being an angel and granted by god endless time, she still had mortal emotions such as anger and hate.5

I remembered when I had first been chosen as the mortal through which god and Jenna would act. I'd been fifteen at the time. It was also the cursed day I had met Krad. I frowned again as the memory slipped from my mind and I returned to the present and the task at hand. 6

The grim reaper disappeared into Krad without warning. A slow chilling shiver racked up my spine as I watched him change. Despite the fact I did almost the same thing with Jenna. I didn't like the way Krad changed. It just felt wrong, like it wasn't part of nature. Too me at least, it seemed unnatural, painful, and disturbing. For me changing was like breathing air. Jenna tapped my shoulder and I turned to nod at her as permission.7

My hair grew out long, past my butt. My body slimmed up and my skin glowed in a transparent like haze. I didn't feel pain when large white feathered wings ripped from my back. It was like a massage. They fluttered as they grew in size. The sound was first a high pitched tearing noise followed by the catch of leaves brushing together.
"What will happen now?" Krad mused out loud. 8

"Nothing," I replied shortly. "We will sign the treaty and both stay on earth to keep the peace for as long as possible. Although I have my suspicious instincts about you I am giving this the benefit of any doubt I have." 9

    Interesting

Its a pretty nice intro but I find it odd that a story with chapters made it into a freewriting contest. Still anything about guardian angels is fairly interesting. Great work.
