I still couldn't believe it.1
I was getting dressed into a high-tech spacesuit, barely breathing. I pulled on one last boot and looked at my mother. She smiled at me.2
"I'm excited for you, Amanda," she whispered. I wish I was able to hear her better, since I had a fish-bowl like mask on my head.3
"I'm nervous," I admitted. My breath fogged the glass of the mask. "I'm sorry I have to leave you."4
My mother pulled back her long blonde hair and gave a shaky smile. "Well, finish up, Mandy-Doll, and I'll meet you at the take-off sight."5

I was sitting in a comfortable leather seat, taking shuddering breaths. Jessica held my bulky space glove with hers. I glanced out a window to see my parents waving with tissues that automatically clean, tears dotting their faces.7
I turned back to Jessica, and tried to smile. Kind of impossible, while even your manager looked like she was going to pass out.8
A voice, different then Girlil's, since he was in front of me, rang over the speakers. "Ladies and gentleman, take off will take place in five minutes." Louder, the man's voice rang around the area. "Clear the area!"9
Rumbling. The engine was starting. I gripped the leather seat, sweating a gallon a minute. My parents were driving away, crying their heads off. I was dead nervous.10
Five minutes later almost, a big clock said 4:57 AM. The man's voice buzzed again. "Take off. In five, four...."11
I squeezed my eyes shut.12
"Three, two..."13
I was going to die.14
"One!"15
My head banged against the seat as I opened my eyes to see black dotted with stars. "Take off successful. Mission X, good luck...." The voice faded away, no more reception.16
I felt so much lighter as we sped past the moon. Things zipped by, faster than ever on Earth. In fact, I think we were finally out of our solar system.17
I unbuckled my belt and felt myself float to the ceiling. I tried forcing myself down, but it was impossible. Shuddering with excitement, I bounced around and screamed happily. Soon enough, I puked in my mask.18
"Space sickness," sighed Jessica. "C'mon girl, you just ate." She handed me and new mask and led me to a oxygen filled room to change masks. 19
Creda looked outside. "Can we go out?"20
Jessica looked outside and saw a planet close ahead. "Land!"21
The ship zoomed down and touched the rocky, deserted planet. She opened a latch and we all spilled out. Of course, we had these wires attached to us, which wasn't fun.22
We bounced and flipped around for about an hour, at one point I kind of bounced off the planet, which was more like a moon. The ship saved me, and we were off again.23
A day later, I was on radar patrol, looking for blue and green dots which indicated planets that might have water and life. Suddenly, I saw one which was filled with dots.24
"Land!" I screamed, excitement choking me. We slowly drifted down.25
And the planet was full of tree-like things.26
Suddenly, fiery blue arrows were shot at our ship. We swerved to the side, my the mask almost cracking. One hit the ship and a hole burned in it.27
"Get lower!" I shouted. We zoomed lower to the planet and quickly sped around, suddenly, a whining sound was heard from the engine and we dropped.28
"It has gravity!" exclaimed Boggin in excitement. But everyone else was too worried about dying.29
We plummeted into a pinkish lake like thing, with a liquid like a blanket spilling through the hole. My helmet flew off, and I gasped for air.30
When I rose above the surface of the liquid, I felt my lungs swell. This was air! Air!31
I jumped at a chair and held onto it, spitting up pink. Suddenly we washed onto shore and I felt a warm hand grab me. Probably Boggin.32
"Thanks," I gasped, and opened my eyes to see a blue creature with short blue hair and a green suit on. He had ruby red eyes and a long aqua tail sticking out.33
"Whoa," he rasped. It wasn't exactly English, but it sounded like it. It had some raspy, Southern tone to it, almost mixed with German.34
"Hi," I breathed. "From a different planet."35
The creature smiled. "Only one planet."36
"No, there's one called Earth. That's why I look different."37
The animal looked flabbergasted. "This is Civcorn. Hooome."38
"My name, identity, is Amanda," I answered.39
The creature grinned, showing sparkling white teeth. "I'm 7Y982DVX0."40
"What?"41
"7Y982DVX0."42
"You don't have something like... Finny, John, Taylor?..."43
7Y982DVX0 shook his head. "No, Amaaaanda. The king, my father, numbers every living thing on this planet. But your name is preeeeetty." He sighed.44
"Thanks," I muttered. "What's this planet called again?"45
7Y982DVX0 smiled. "Civcorn, the planet of beauty and war."46
"War?"47
7Y982DVX0 nodded. "Yes. Horrible, bloody war." I decided I liked this odd creature. Smiling, I asked,48
"Mind if I gave you a real name, like Amanda?"49
7Y982DVX0 bounced up and down on webbed blue feet. "Please do."50
I cocked my head, and gave a hard stare at the thing. An idea popped into my mind.51
"Mikin. It means 'discovery'."52
Author notes
I'm so cheesy when it comes to a girl meeting a boy. Mikin does not actually mean discovery, only in this year.
