The tin of tomatoes

One day a man was in court for shoplifting. His name was Sean Geofrey. He was standing in the large courtroom waiting for his fate to be decided.1

Suddenly the judge called out, "Order!" The whole court looked at the judge, waiting for him to speak.2

"Sean Macory Geofrey, you are here because you stole from the shop known as Tesco Express. Apparently you stole a value tin of tinned tomatoes. Is this correct?" The judge asked.3

"Yes sir, it is."4

The judge pulled out a large book from under the stand. He opened it and searched through the pages until he found what he was looking for.5

"It says here that if you steal a tin of tomatoes from a shop then you will have a month in jail for each tomato is in the tin."6

The audience looked very confused. The judge found a tin opener and opened the tin of tomatoes. He counted them slowly. 7

"There are, in this tin, eleven tomatoes, so I am sorry to say that you will be in jail for the next eleven months. Have you anything to say for yourself?" Asked the judge.8

And Sean spoke, "I'm just glad I didn't take the beans." Then he left the court.

Author notes

Someone in my class' uncle was who I based this on and it really happened, I think, exept it wasn't his real name in the story.
