Chapter 6

Chapter 6:1

The next day at school, I felt really awkward. It was like everyone was staring at me.2

“Why is everyone staring at me?” I asked Spike as we were walking to third period Chemistry after lunch.3

“I don’t know.” She replied.4

“I feel like a freak.”5

“Don’t.” She said.6

The rest of the day I was trying to figure out where Don was, he was no where to be found. And I really wanted to talk to him about the other night. He was the only one who supposedly could tell me what really happened. 7

Later I got a call from Spike. Man she sounded bad.8

“Hey Kameel, I just got a phone call from Danny.” She said frantically.9

“What’s wrong?” I asked.10

“He’s breaking up with me!” she said.11

“Why would he do that?” I asked.12

“He said I was too boring and he wanted someone with a little more excitement.” She answered.13

“What a jerk!” I said loudly. “I am going to link him…don’t talk.”14

“Okay.”15

After a couple of rings he picked up, “Hey Danny here.”16

“Hi Danny this is Kameel.”17

“Hey Kameel, what’s up?” he asked.18

“Oh you know what’s up!” I said angrily.19

I hated how much he sounded like nothing happened; like he didn’t just break up with my best friend!20

“No I don’t!” he replied.21

“YOU JUST BROKE UP WITH MY BEST FRIEND! And you’re acting like you’re fine!” I yelled.22

“What’s it to you?” he asked.23

“Why did you break up with her?”24

“I had good reason,” he said. “It’s because she went to Bradley’s party with that Bart guy! That’s called cheating on your boyfriend!” he yelled. 25

“That’s stupid! She went with him as friends because you couldn’t go! As a matter of fact, he tried to kiss her and she pushed him away because she had a boyfriend!” I yelled back.26

“She did?” 27

“Yes!” I yelled.28

“Oh?”29

“Yeah you dork! I went with him as friends and you didn’t even have the decency to ask me what happened instead you tell me you’re dumping me because I’m boring?!” Spike yelled.30

“What? Spike?” Danny yelled confused.31

“Oops, did I forget to mention she was on the phone too?” I said sarcastically.32

“Yes I think you did!” Danny said.33

“You are some sleaze ball!” Spike yelled, “I am so glad we’re over!”34

“Yeah, I’m with her, you’re a creep!” I said and hung up the phone.35

Later that night when I was getting ready for bed, I heard the phone ring and dove for it. “Hello?”36

“Kameel, hi it’s Danny before you hang up, can you at least listen to me?” he pleaded. 37

“Fine, what do you want?”38

“I wanted to tell you the real reason I broke up with Spike…” he said.39

“Oh really,” I asked.40

“Yeah, first of all the reason I went out with her was because I like you and I wanted to get close to you. I have always liked you. I know it was wrong to take advantage of Spike but I really like you!” he explained.41

“Oh you creep!” I yelled and slammed the phone down.42

The next day at school everything went by really slowly. Near the end of the day I approached Spike and Teena. “Man I am seriously creeped out!”43

“I thought you were acting weird today,” said Spike.44

“Yeah, what’s wrong?” asked Teena.45

“Well last night before I went to bed I got a phone call from Danny and he said the whole reason he went out with you Spike was to get to me, because he really likes me and he wants to go out with me.” I explained, “And now he won’t leave me alone, I think he was serious!”46

“That…that little creep!” Spike yelled. 47

“I know.” I said walking over to my locker and shoving my science textbook in.48

I sighed heavily.49

“Man I just don’t get this.” I said.50

“Get what?” Spike asked.51

“All my bad luck!” I said. “I mean it seems like lately I can’t do anything right. It’s really discouraging. Who knows maybe everyone just hates me.”52

“That’s not true!” Teena said, “We don’t hate you!”53

“I know, but everything else with everyone else doesn’t seem to be working out.” I replied heaving my backpack up on my back and walking towards the door. 54

“It’s okay.” Teena said.55

“You know what? I’ve really messed up lately. I mean I’ve screwed up so many relationships!” I said, “Like Don, he must think I’m this thing because he won’t even talk to me, Bradley because I discovered that he is a pervert and a creep, Chris because I was too blind to see that Devis was stealing him right from under my nose! I am like the lousiest person on the planet!”56

“It’s okay, at least Christmas is coming up and we get two whole weeks off from this place and you can just relax and have some fun!” said Teena, “and I thought maybe if your dad and step mom are still going out of town that you could come stay with me?”57

“Oh that might be fun.” I replied.58

I always like spending time at Teena’s house. I also like spending time at Spike’s house. My dad and step mom are going on their third Hunnie moon/anniversary. Last year they did their second Hunnie moon/ anniversary and this year it’s the same. So I would otherwise be stuck at my house by myself for two weeks. Joy!59

“I’m sure my dad wouldn’t mind!” I said.60

“Yeah, and then you can come to my Christmas bash too eh?”61

“Hey that would be cool, I forgot about that.” said Teena. 62

“Yeah, sounds like a plan.”63

“Cool.” said Spike.64

“Hey Spike can I get a ride home?” I asked as we all got out of the school. 65

“Sure Kameel.” 66

“Oh crap can you hold on a second I have to go get my math textbook I forgot I have some homework.” I said running back towards the school.67

“Sure, just hurry up.” She said back.68

“Okay.”69

When I got in the school I hurried to my locker and pulled my math textbook out of my locker and was about to shut it when I noticed a piece of paper between me and Spike’s lockers.70

I opened it to find it said:71

Dear Spike:72

This is going to be the best surprise! She’s totally crashing and burning with everything that has happened. This should be exactly what she needs. I’ll keep in touch; you just make sure the plan is in motion.73

I couldn’t understand what it meant. But I was pretty sure it had to do with me, but why? I didn’t know.74

I stuffed the note back where I found it and walked back to the car. I was silent the rest of the way home. 75
