A Mage's Secret Heart ch 24

Devante took care of Cyan for a few days being lucky enough to elude the professors of the white academy who were looking for Cyan to exact punishment on him for mingling with the black robes. Devante himself didn’t receive any punishment as the black academy didn’t really care. Cyan however would be severely punished Devante knew this without a doubt so he kept him hid in his house hoping he wasn’t found.1

It had been four days since Cyan had been at Devante’s house, his health had gotten a bit better and the infection was starting to die out thanks to Devante’s constant care. It was early morning and Devante was getting ready to go to class when he heard a soft groan coming from his bedroom and he went in to see what was going on. He smiled widely as he seen that Cyan’s eyes were open, and although he looked weak he had a slight smile on his face. Devante smiled “welcome back to the land of the living white robe.” he said as he knelt by the bed. Cyan sighed “Still feels like the land of the dead to me.” he said softly. Devante laughed and nodded “you gave me quite a scare, I was afraid you weren’t going to pull through.” Cyan nodded “Neither did I.” he said softly. Devante sighed “She’s found another.” he said softly. Cyan nodded “I know, I don’t plan on sticking around though, no worries.” he said a little sadly. Devante sighed “the white academy hot shots are looking for you to, they want your blood I’ve heard.” he said. Cyan sighed “I’m not surprised.” Devante shook his head “I have to get to class, stay here and behave yourself until I get back then we will make a plan on how to get you out of here safely.” Cyan nodded “I’m not going anywhere.” he said softly. Devante nodded and got up “see you when I get back.” he said as he grabbed his books and headed out the door. Cyan nodded and soon after fell back to sleep.2

Devante got to his class barely before it started and sighed as he sat down in his chair and tried to listen to his professor. His thoughts however kept drifting back to a plan on how to help Cyan and not get him caught. He sighed as he started to write down some of the ideas that he thought might work and shook his head as he rethought about them. He done this for most of the day until it was about lunch time when he actually took a break and got himself some lunch. He was on his way to find a spot to eat when a conversation going on between some newbies got his attention “did you hear about the white academy finding that white robe?” one said “yeah I heard they sentenced him to death.” said another “Said that he was hiding in the house of the black robe who changed him into a wolf, how dumb is that.” said another. Devante shook his head and dropped his lunch and quickly ran home. He was surprised to find that his servants were cleaning up his house which was a wreck “what happened?” he asked panicked “They came here and took him sir, there was nothing we could do they threatened to killed us.” said one of his servants. Devante shook his head as he ran up to his room and flung open the door to find his room a bigger mess than downstairs, his bed empty all except for a blood stain that was left on the sheets. It was true Cyan was gone and there was no telling what they had done to him as punishment but Devante knew that what ever it was it wasn’t pretty and was most likely fatal. He sighed a weary sigh and sat down on the floor and shook his head looking at the empty bed “Forgive me white robe, I never meant for all of this to happen to you I just wanted her protected, now I’m not so sure it was worth the price.” he said as he sat there thinking of the man who’s life he had ruined.3

What kind of a crappy ending is that?! What happens to Cyan?! Is there a rescue attempt?! (scowls menacingly) There had better be a sequel. I know I found the story late and didn't comment on all of the chapters, but that's no excuse! I mean, that's horrible! I look forward to the sequel, which you WILL write. (Scowls again)Good story by the way. Bye! Happy Ffdnb;t[dsfka'!
