Chapter 6: Crazy mystery. . .1
It was around 6 when June told me that I could leave, I really didn't want to go, and I was enjoying looking around the bookstore. Familiarizing myself around the books and to where certain books laid. She handed me a key to the store so that I won't have to wait for her in the mornings and she then pushed me out the door. The one thing that sucks about this job is her being so stubborn. I couldn't get a ride from mom because I left my cell phone at home, nice move Michelle... now we have to walk. I told my brain or my brain told me. I hate it when we both argue, I go off in my own world and my brain goes of into a different world across the universe.2
After a few minutes I was walking up the road pass the corn field. I stopped in my tracks, looking at where I fell. Fake pain spread though my knees at the memories of the fall. I then continued forward; trying to forget the past that was full of pain. I started humming the tune I heard from the music box, I called it "Night Dancing". I don't know why, it just sounds like a rightful name for it. My humming caused the time to drift away, before I realized it I was in the front of my drive way. I looked past my house, down further the road. Now, I wonder where the rest of this road leads to. I moved my head back and forth from the mysterious road that was shaded by the trees in gulping it into the forest and my house. My parents won't notice that I'm gone just for a few minutes. I turn toward the road; a yellow sign hung on a tree near the road caught my eye. No Trespassers!3
I stopped. Are they hiding something? That sign is just tempting me to continue forward. My mother yelled to me from the front house.4
"How was your first day of work, Michelle?" She shouted to me. I clenched my fist, still staring off at the road.5
"I guess I will have to wait to explore you later" I spoke to the shadow road. "It was fine mom!" I yelled to her, turning away from the road. I sighed.6
I walked upon the front porch. My mom greeted me with a smile and then held my cell phone in front of her.7
"I think you forgot something," She added, I smiled at my phone and her. "I tried calling, I then heard the phone ring up in your room"8
"Sorry" I spoke; I then heard the sound of nails tapping across the wooden flooring. Toby came running out the door, propping his legs on my left leg. Begging to be picked up by me; he missed me. I picked him up, his soft fur glided on my fingers, I then held him like a baby because he is my little baby. Walking into the front door the smell of hamburgers glided through the air. I could smell the scent of melted cheese, yum.9
"I made your favorite, well second favorite food" Mom noted. My favorite is chicken, my second is...10
"In-Side-Out Hamburgers?" I praised. In-Side-Out Hamburgers are hamburger meat with the cheese in the inside; they are awesome with a bag of Gripo's BBQ chips. My stomach growled at the water drooling scent. I placed Toby on the ground, running to the kitchen. Their laid a plate with two hamburgers (with ketchup) and BBQ chips with my name on it. I grabbed the plate and ran up the stairs to my room. I run back out looking down at the stairs.11
"Thanks mom!" I thanked her, running back to my room. Here I come hamburgers.12
I run into my room, staring at a person sitting on my bed, reading one of my books. The person placed the book on my desk, when I entered into the room. It was one of my cousins, my cousin Courtney. She gave me a warm smile; I smiled back, sitting next to her.13
"I like your room" She pointed out. I nodded to her; I haven't seen her in a year. Courtney was my favorite cousin on my mom's side. She has long brown hair, brown eyes and I have to say but she was just a little on the big side but she still seemed skinny to me. I wanted to hug her but two things. 1. I didn't want to put my plate down and 2. She’s a cousin I don't hug. I can't even remember the last time she hugged me. Or I hugged her. Courtney can make me laugh at random things and really stupid things. She loves or I mean loved drawing, she mostly texts and role plays (anime) on her myspace. I grabbed my hamburger taking a bite out of it, my heart sank as she grabbed the other one and took a big bite out of it. "No!!! My baby, I mean other baby..." I yelled in my mind. Oh well, mom always makes extra.14
"So, how are you?" I asked after a moment of silence.15
"Fine and how are you?"16
"Fine..." Ok this is getting really annoying, taking another bite of my hamburger. Yum, the warm, melted cheese oozed onto my tongue from the hamburger meat.17
“Yuck, the cheese is burnt” Courtney yelled with discus, I think mom knew she would grab that one. I started laughing my as* off on the bed. I looked at my cousin dumbfounded when she threw the burnt burger out the window. Even though the cheese was burnt, she still could have eaten it.18
Oh great, school is starting tomorrow, it seems like summer just started. Whatever. Life is like that. So today, I was going to have as much fun as possible, well that is what I thought about doing. I didn’t do anything at all, then it was 9:00 pm when…19
“Amber! Can you go down to the gas station and get me a Pepsi?” My mother yelled.20
I came running down the stairs finding my lazy mother on the couch with Toby on her lap watching the television. I walked to the side of the couch, standing in front of her feet.21
“Me? I can’t go by myself, I don’t have license only temps” I stated. “And temps require a licensed adult driver sitting in the car with the temp driver at all times.”22
My mother smirks at my knowledge or my vocabulary. She looked back at the TV set, and then reached into her pocket, throwing them to me.23
“Just go, the cops won’t notice, lots of teens do it” She directed me. “Besides the cops don’t really mind, I did it a lot when I was your age” Mom, my mother did this? Well, if she did it, then I’m totally going to do it. I toss the keys in the air catching them again and then bolting out the front door. I then freeze in front of the two cars. A red Astor Chevy van or my mothers white with blue strips mustang? I looked up at the blackish blue star covered sky, thinking.24
I speed down the road by the corn field in my mother’s mustang, with the tinted windows rolled down. The wind was flying everywhere; I clutched the wheel harder, wanting to go faster.25
I speed past the school, that I will be starting tomorrow…great. I so don’t want to start school and also see everyone from elementary school and see how much they’ve changed as well.26
I then slowed down when I spotted lights appear from the long distance.27
It was Blackrock.28
I drove down the road, driving the speed limit. I then turn down Sharp rd. and then half way down Gravel rd. turning into the entrance of the gas station. I glance at the gas meter.29
Hmmm. Low on gas. I guess I could help my mother this one time.30
I drove beside one of the gas pumps and freeze in my seat when I see who I park in front of. It was the midnight black 2009, Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle. Hmmm. I wonder who drives it and also the person who drives it, is inside the gas station. I glanced outside the car, I saw a few guys checking the car out. They looked around 2 years older then me, which are 18 or 19. I then glanced at the gas pump, and then number 5 stood above it. I opened the door, stepping out of the car. I looked at the boys that stood around the car. One boy had blonde helmet hair wearing a blue t-shirt and baggy jeans. One had brown spiky hair and he was wearing a black KISS t-shirt. The last one had black spiky hair wearing a purple and grey striped, long sleeve shirt and black sun glasses even though it was dark out. He lifted his glasses up and scanned the car or me.31
I thought I looked rather cute. I was wearing a black tight t-shirt with a faded grey guitar on it, black skinny jeans, high tops with neon green laces. Also I was wearing a checkered belt, another belt that hung on the side with white hearts and a chain and skull hand fingerless gloves. I walked past them, tucking my hair behind my ear. I stepped onto the concrete ledge, pushing the door open. A bell jingled when I entered into the store. I caught some people glance my way. Most of them were guys. So, one of these guys is the motorcyclist. What am I doing? Yeah, I’m a sucker for mystery motorcyclist but this is crazy. Just get in and get out. I walked over to the drink dispenser, got a cup and pushed the button dispensing Pepsi into the cup and ice.32
I walk over the candy isle, trying to find my favorite candy.33
I groan.34
"No more Carmella’s?" I whimper to myself. I looked over the wall at all of the people. I then flinch back when I see something I didn't want to see. So this was probably the guy who rides the motorcycle. I stared at an old man in a leather jacket. Ew. 35
Ew, ew, ew, ew...and I thought he was hot too!36
I grabbed a cookie's and crème Hershey’s bar instead, rushing to the line to the cashier. A teenager stood in front of me in a black shirt, baggy black pants with a chain on the side and the old man stood in front of him.37
“Thank you,” I heard him say, I watched as he left, the guy in black past in front of me out the door blocking my sight of the old man.38
“Next” The cashier told me, I scooted forward, placing the pop and candy bar on the counter along with 20 bucks.39
“Also 15 on 5” I told her, I glanced over in the door way. The old man walked over and jumped into a red Saturn. Wait. If he’s driving that, then who…I glanced over at the motorcycle and saw the boy that was standing in front me in the line was sitting on it. He already had the helmet over his face and I didn’t see his face in the line. 40
Great!41
He floored on the gas and speeded out of the gas station, right when I run out.42
Darn it! Oh well…43
whatcha think so far?
