Untitled (Chapter 10)

“I’ll pretend to be one of their investor and prevent anyone who has authority from disturbing you.” Casper answered easily. “Do you have any opinion or disapproval, Julie?” 1

“No, nothing…” Julie muttered. Suddenly, all her matter was gone; her mind went straight to this new plan. This is sounded so easy until she doubted it. She frowned at the blue print and stared at it deeply like she could dive inside.2

“What is it?” Sam asked while nobody noticed Julie.3

Julie didn’t rise her head and covered her mouth with her hand, thinking. “I….this just too easy, don’t you think it is?” She raised her head and stared at Sam then at Casper. “And because it’s too easy, I bet there will be much holes inside this plan than unluckily we haven’t seen yet.”4

Kimberly sighed and put her head on Casper’s shoulder. “Seems like she open you card, Cas.” Kim gave a sour smile and Sam frowned at Casper.5

“What? Mean that you knew these holes are exists but you let us work with it?” Sam asked and slumped deeper on his chair. “God, Casper…you laying a bet with our life….”6

“I’m sorry guys…but I just too blind to see what kind of holes are these.” Casper said lightly. “Julie, I’m sure you can help.”7

“Gosh….I don’t know if I….I’ll try.” Julie took the blue print and some papers; she walked to the kitchen and disappeared behind the wall. Everyone watched her gone except Justin who just stared blankly at the table with his legs on it. 8

Casper took the news paper and drowned to it while Kim stood and turned on the TV. Sam watched Justin carefully and threw his head with a paper ball. “Mr. Big mouth suddenly lost his appetite to talk, huh?” Sam said as he grinned.9

Justin casted an angry look at Sam and threw back the paper ball. “What? You want fight me, Mr. Big Head?” 10

“Whoa, chill out dude. What happened to you?”11

“Not your damn business, Sam. Now you better shut your mouth up, okay? I’m not in the mood to fight.” 12

Sam frowned at Justin and put his legs on the table across Justin’s legs. “Hey buddy, we never keep a secret one to another, right? Now what’s going on?”13

Justin put his legs down and glared at Sam. He gritted his teeth and tried to calm down. “Listen Sam, you’re not my brother and I don’t have to spill everything out to you.” He stood roughly and rushed out from the room. Sam watched him out with irritated look. 14

“What happened to him?” Kim asked curiously to Sam who just watched the door blankly. 15

Sam stood slowly and sighed. “Fine, whatever…..” He walked to the kitchen with tensed jaws. They’ve been together for 10 years and Sam treated him just like his own brother and now he said he wasn’t his brother? He walked to the refrigerator and grabbed a beer; opened it roughly and took a big gulp. He stared at the bottle blankly, didn’t know what to do. He then realized that Julie was there, sat at the kitchen counter and buried with all papers and blue print.16

“Hay Julie, been busy?” Sam tried to speak normal but his voice sounded cold in his ears.17

Julie took a glance at him and back at her work. “Hmm….” She answered with no care.18

“Did you know something about Justin?” Sam asked while he leaned at the nearest counter and stared at the blue print.19

Julie stopped her work suddenly and felt something strange on her stomach. “Urgh….Don’t know. You supposed to know him better than me…” Julie said, tried hardly to hide her nerve. 20

“You’re not hiding something, are you?” Sam asked suspiciously.21

“Of course not! Listen, I don’t know anything about Justin or what happened to him okay? Why don’t you ask him by yourself?” 22

“Huh, I did. He angry to me…smashed the door at me and leave…stupid jerk…” Sam murmured and took another gulp.23

Julie really stopped working and turned her body to face Sam. “Now, I want to ask you; what happened to you and Justin?”24

Sam sighed and threw his face away. “Nothing…”25

“God, Sammy! You don’t want to speak to me and how do I can help you?” 26

Sam frowned and stared at Julie’s face. “I don’t ask you help.” He said uncertainly. 27

Julie smiled with victory. “Now, I can read people and you need help, indeed.” 28

Sam gave a sour laugh and threw away his beer; he sat at the counter and stared at Julie’s eyes. “Alright, whatever you want Ms. Psychic.”29

Julie listened to everything that Sam’s said; she tried to hide her own problem behind this one. At least, she could pretend like Sam was the one who had the problem here and not her. She found out that Sam came ran out from an orphanage and met Justin on his runaway. They then lived together until they met Casper and traveled around with him. And now Sam felt irritated with Justin acted who said that he wasn’t his brother.30

“Alright, I admit that I wasn’t his real brother. But…” Sam kicked the air with angry and groaned, he looked frustrated. 31

Julie frowned, realized how sensitive Sam was. “You can’t blame him.” She said, knowing what actually made Justin act like that.32

“What? “ Sam asked in shock. “I take care of him! Do everything when we traveled in the street and now he act like this to me?”33

“Sam, don’t act like a girl. See it from other perspective, maybe you’ll understand something.” 34

Sam stared at him with something that Julie couldn’t explain. He walked closer and stood in front of Julie. “You hide something.” He said.35

“No, I’m not.” Julie answered, tried to sound convenient.36

“That wasn’t a question that was a conclusion.” Sam stared deeply into Julie’s eyes and Julie felt like she wanted to dig out her own eyes. “You two acted weird; didn’t talk to each other, wrong act, you looked nervous and Justin lost his talking appetite. Now, do you have something to tell me? “37

“No, okay? You just don’t know me better yet to see what’s normal means to me.” Julie felt uncomfortable on her position, it seemed like Sam was pushed her to say something.38

“I insist, Julie.” 39

“And even though I had something to hide, I won’t tell you. Not even a word.” 40

“Really?”41

“Could you please stop putting me under pressure like this? You treat me like I was a killer who hasn’t admits that I just killed someone!” Julie shouted at Sam and pushed him aside. She walk to the refrigerator and took a beer for herself.42

Sam wanted to argue but Casper called him. Sam stared at Julie with disbelieve and hissed. “I know you knew something.” He walked out from the kitchen and walked toward Casper he felt that somehow Justin and Julie hide something.43

Julie sighed and looked down to her beer. She wrong…she lied….but she couldn’t say the truth either. She just hopes that Sam wasn’t that angry to her and they could rob the bank without any pissing off drama. Okay, so now this place started to feel like a battle field or maybe Gladiator Arena. What was wrong with those guys? It was so easy to insult them with a flick of fire. Julie sighed and took her pen to start working again. 44
