Into the Dirt

Fighting for a comfortable position Clara closes her eyes and begins to think. Not of the future, and not of the present. Her mind takes her to the past, at a time when she was happy, and carefree. She felt no pain or regret. Then reality hits her. She was the one that could not bring her self to help the childhood friend she once had from the raging water that dreadful Friday night, when she was only eight years old. She was the only one he had to help him. Clara remembers the menacing screams that came from him that day, and yet she just stood there with fear grasping her to the ground. She remembers the look his older brother Alex gave her when he pulled the lifeless body of his brother from the water.1

It took a long time for Clara to get her head straight, but she learned to forget, although she is reminded from time to time by a dream, or short thought, she was able to cope with the fact that she was unable to help her best friend from drowning.2

Beginning to sweat Clara quickly jumps out of bed and heads for the bathroom. Finding the door she pushes it open, and sees total darkness. She finds the light switch and flicks it on. The intensity of the quick change from dark to light makes her eyes squint. The clean cold water felt like heaven hitting her in the face, she was then relaxed, and ready to attempt falling asleep again.3

Looking up at the cabinet mirror above the sink her heart dropped, and her eyes opened wide. Upon the mirror were the words “I haven’t forgotten” written in lipstick, her lipstick. Clara’s grip tightens around the rim of the sink until her knuckles turned white. She didn’t want to move. Her thoughts were only trying to figure out who wrote the words on her mirror. Suddenly the lights went out.4

It was Sunday morning. The light of the sun crept in threw the window of Dan Morris’ Bedroom. It caught his eyes and he rolled over in bed. Dan was 32 years old and divorced. He had a good job as a stock boy, but it didn’t last long, after his divorce he was barley capable of living any more. He knew he was depressed and he knew he would get over it. But it took a while. Three years had passed and he was finally able to accept that his life was rid of the wife he used to have.6

When he opened his eyes he knew it was going to be a good day. Pushing the covers to the side of him he decided that a nice walk in the park would help him start the day. He headed for his dresser and picked out a comfortable outfit.7

It was still cold enough outside for Dan to see his breath. The sun was just leaving the horizon, and there was not a cloud in sight.  Dan rounded the corner of his street and continued into the park. He had never visited the park before, only because he moved into the area during the winter. He reached a small incline and started heading up it. As he continued to walk he found that a small cliff was to his right was getting bigger, and he headed along the small path that went into the rest of the park.8

Dan decided to have a look at the cliff. Taking only two steps toward the right the cliff was only about 2 inches away. Dan’s face widened as he saw that the cliff was now about 30 feet steep.  He quickly threw himself back and from then on he decided to stay a safe distance away.9

Sweat started to drip from Clara’s face. She opened her eyes but she couldn't’t make a difference. All she could see was black. Immediately she froze. She could feel that there was cloth wrapped around her eyes. The thought of taking it off was shut out of her mind as soon as she noticed that her hands were tied together. Panic struck her, and she started struggle furiously. She could feel wood all around her. She then knew she had been buried alive.11

*************************12

The ground was soft and rocky, and there was no one else in sight. Dan was getting tired from walking, and decided to turn around, but as soon as he stopped he heard a distressed muffled voice of a female coming from behind a large bush just to his right. He stopped to reconsider, and heard it again. “Get me out here”. With instinct Dan ran over to the other side of the bush. He could smell the freshly shoveled dirt before he even got there. But when he arrived he knew that someone was buried in the ground. Fresh dirt was visible in an area of about six by two feet. 13

“Help me, please”. Dan knew it was a woman by the sound of her voice. In one sudden moment she started kicking. Dan threw himself speechlessly to the ground, and started moving the dirt with his hands. It took only 3 minutes to move the loosely placed dirt. He could see the wooden box that she was in. Before he could open it, the box burst open and the women came out, yelling hysterically, and running right for the cliff.  “NO, stop!” he yelled. But she didn't’t reply. Dan watched the woman fall to her death, just after he saved her life.14

I agree with DrinkBleachAndDie It was freaky at the begining and I started to breath easy when I thought Dan was going to save her life. Then she had a panic attack or something and fell off a cliff. That suck lol. Great Job And Good Luck
