Nightmares 2- The Nightmares continue (chapter 4)

Steven P.O.V:1

I went to the supermarket after my dad went to sleep. I was walking with my hands on my pocket and listening to music from my I-Pod. I wore my black and white jacket with a hood on the back, my skinny jeans and my black converse. I pulled up my hood when I went in. Suddenly someone grabbed me from behind. I turned around and saw Rose smiling at me.2

“What do we have here? It’s Kelly’s boyfriend or should I say ex?”3

I didn’t say anything and walked pass her.4

“Steven, wait! Can I talk to you?” She pulled down my hood and stared at my face.5

“Steven, what happened?” She asked worriedly.6

She saw my black eye and my bruises on my face and lip.7

“Who did this to you?”8

“It’s nothing. Please, go away!” I said it not facing her.9

“No, Steven, you broke my best friend’s heart. I need some answers, Steven. Don’t you love her anymore?”10

I hid my face with my side bangs. I didn’t want her to see my tears.11

“I’m sorry, Rose, but yes I don’t love her! And you can say that to her!” I shouted.12

“Why, Steven? How can you do that to her?”13

I walked towards the counter and grabbed me Tic Tac- Mint.14

“You’re so heartless! Steven, you’re an asshole!” I heard Rose screaming behind my back. 15

Sorry Kelly… I’m so sorry…16

I payed my Tic Tac, went out, my hood pulled up again because it started to rain.17

Kelly P.O.V:18

I was lying in my bed and listening to my I-Pod. Then I slammed it to the floor. I hate it! I began to cry, my face on my pillow. I ran to the bathroom, get the blade and cut myself. It hurts but it’s worth the pain. It’s better than my heartache. I didn’t want to go out. I didn’t want to look for the girl from my nightmare. I had enough of it! I couldn’t save her anyway. I’m just so helpless.19

SATURDAY20

The next day my dad forced me to go outside because he said the fresh air is much better than to stay in the house all day. So here I am sitting at the bench in the park. I could see from here the skaters, skating at the half-pipe. I thought about Steven when he tried to teach me how to skate. Oh damn it! I shouldn’t be outside that was a very bad idea. I was still thinking that I didn’t notice that someone was sitting beside me. I turned my head to the right to see who it was. Oh, no… Please don’t let her be the girl from my nightmare. As I thought that she turned her head to me. Yes, it was her. She is the girl I was in the forest. It was a really, really bad idea to go outside.21

After I saw her, I went back to my house. I was in my bed covering my face. Someone knocked at my door.22

“No, I’m not here. I’m dead…” I moaned.23

“For a dead person you really sound much alive.” I could hear Stan’s voice. 24

I jumped up and opened the door.25

“Stan!” I hugged him. “Good to see you. How was your trip?”26

Stan was for a couple of days in Texas to visit his grandparents.27

“It was enjoyable.”28

“How are your grandparents?”29

“Nana is still the same, the best pancakes maker in the world! And Grandpa Otto is still a good storyteller.”30

“That’s good! I missed you.”31

“Aww, that’s cute.” He said and looked around my room then he sat on the sofa. “So why did you say you’re dead a while ago?”32

“It’s nothing…”33

“C’mon, just tell me.”34

“Okay.” So I began to tell the whole story.35

He just listened and didn’t interrupt me.36

“Okay, you are way better the Grandpa Otto.” He said when I was finish.37

“Hey,” I pushed him on his shoulder. “It’s serious, dude.”38

“Okay, okay, sorry.” He pushed his eyeglasses up a little. He always did that when he was thinking. “Hmm…”39

“What?” I snapped.40

“Okay, so Steven broke up because of his dad?”41

“I’m not sure, but yes I think so.”42

“Hmm…”43

“What is it?”44

“Why don’t you call the police?”45

“And what do I say? Oh, you know my boyfriend’s father was a killer and my dad killed him and now he’s alive again and comes to my nightmares.”46

“Yeah, why not?” He joked.47

“Ha-ha.” I crossed my arms to my chest.48

“Okay, why don’t you save this girl?”49

“What?”50

“I mean why not?”51

“Are you out of your mind? I don’t even know where she lives.”52

“You can ask her. Maybe she is still at the park.”53

“No way, she will think I’m crazy. Stan, she wouldn’t believe me.”54

“Hmm…”55

I looked at him with my questioning eyes.56

“So you just let her die then?”57

Stan and I drove with our bikes back to the park to see if the girl from my nightmare was still there. Luckily she was still there watching the skater boys. As we went near the half- pipe I could see a guy with blond yellow hair and a cap on his head. My heart pounds faster, I’m not sure if it was him because he was kinda far away. But something tells me that it was Steven.58

“Hello, I’m- I’m Stan and this is Kelly a friend of mine.” I heard Stan introduce himself to the girl. She looked at us confused.59

“I’m Julia…”60

Suddenly a guy came towards us with his skateboard. He wore a black and white cap, a black T-shirt with pink letters printed on that says: 100% skater, brown shorts and black and white vans shoes. He had brown hair till his shoulders. He looked at us confused and then he kissed the girl and holds her hand. They wanted to leave but Stan stopped them and says,”Wait a minute.”61

“What do you want, nerd? Are you flirting with my girl?” The skater asked not really friendly.62

“No- no.” Stan said.63

“So what do you want?”64

“Actually it’s me. I wanted to talk to your girlfriend.” I suddenly said.65

The guy looked at his girlfriend. “Do you know her?”66

“No, not really.” Julia answered.67

“So what do you want from Julia?” The guy asked me.68

“Ohm…” I looked back and the half-pipe and I saw him. I saw Steven looking at me. I couldn’t stop staring at him. Steven also didn’t take his eyes off me. 69

“Hey girl, I’m talking to you.” The guy said and my eyes wandered to him.70

“What? Sorry…”71

He rolled his eyes. “So if you don’t mind we gonna leave now.” He grabbed his girl friend’s hand and walked away holding his skateboard on the other hand.72

“Kelly, what’s wrong?” Stan asked.73

“It’s Steven… He is here, see.” I pointed to the direction were Steven was. He was up there at the half-pipe talking with some guys.74

“So go to him, Kelly. It’s your chance.”75

“I- I…”76

“C’mon…”77

Stand grabbed my hand and pulled me with him. He stopped than pushed me to go to Steven. I looked at him, he was still busy talking with guys but suddenly he turned around and looked at me with his beautiful blue eyes that I love so much. I notice that he had a piercing on his lower right lip and a black eye. He pulled on his sunglasses.78

“Hey, who’s this?” A guy asked. 79

“It’s no one.”80

“So why is she keep on staring at you?”81

“Steven, can I talk to you? Alone…” I said with an angry tone.82

“Dude, the girl knows your name.” The other guy said.83

Steven jumped down from the pipe.84

“So, what’s up?” he said normally. So normal if nothing happened between us. I was so mad, I thought I’m gonna explode any minute. He sighed deeply and put his hands in his jeans pocket and looked down, typically Steven. He began to walk and I followed him.85

“So are you going to tell me anything at all?” I asked him. He was still walking.86

“Okay, can you please stop walking and look at me!” I said furious.87

He stopped all of a sudden and turned around facing me. He had still his sunglasses on so I couldn’t see if he was staring at me or not. Steven went closer to me. He pulled out his hand from his pocket and held out touching my necklace.88

“So, you still wear my necklace.”89

I could smell his breath what still taste like mint. 90

“Yes, Steven, because I love you.”91

“Why?”92

“What?”93

“Why do you love me?”94

“Why not? You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”95

“No, I’m not.”96

He took of his glasses, not only I could see his black eye; I also saw small bruises on his face.97

“Did your father did this to you?” I wanted to touch his face but he grabbed my wrist.98

“Please, don’t.”99

“Steven…”100

“Please don’t pretend you care for me.”101

“I don’t pretend, Steven.”102

He was still holding my wrist than he pulled up my sleeve.103

“Kelly…”104

Tears run down my cheeks. He saw all my cuts. He also pulled up the other side.105

“Why are you doing this?” He asked and looked at me.106

I looked down at my feet. All the cuts began to hurt.107

“Let me go…”108

“Kelly, why are you cutting yourself? Is it because of me? Please don’t do this, Kelly. I’m not worth your pain.”109

“You’re hurting me, please…” More tears were coming down.110

He let go of my arm and began to hug me. I hugged him back. I hugged him tight and I wanted to never let go of him. I wanted to stay in his arms forever. I began to cry. I cried so loud, all my emotions at once. He touched my hair softly, rubbing my back. 111

“Please, don’t leave me. I love you, Steven.” I said still crying.112

Steven went with me home. Now we were sitting at the kitchen table eating cookies and drinking milk.113

“Kelly, I’ve got to go home now.”114

“So your dad wouldn’t be angry with you if you were late and if you were late he would hit you. Am I right?”115

“Kelly…”116

“It’s just the truth! Your dad is back, right? How did he survive? I mean you and I, we saw him dead. And now he is back? How could that be possible?”117

He didn’t say anything anymore.118

“Steven, how did he come back? Why do you live with him? I don’t understand it.”119

“You don’t know anything, okay? So can you please stop talking about this.”120

I looked at him. I looked at his blue eyes.121

“There is something you don’t tell me, am I right? Actually you didn’t tell me anything, you and your secrets.”122

He stood up.123

“Steven?”124

“I’ve really got to go.” He leaned down to me and kissed my forehead. “Bye.”125

He smiled at me and gone was he. He smiled, that’s something he doesn’t do often, but if he does he looked so much cuter.126

“Bye Steven. I hope to see you soon… I will be waiting… Always…”127
