Fragmented Aberration (Chapter One)

The screen door shut, the slam echoing about the silent house. Kevin made his way slowly to the living room, attempting to keep his footsteps silent. The T.V. flashed images of some soap opera, and he couldn’t help but smile to himself. 1

Kevin peered over the back of the sofa, placing his hand gently upon the forehead of the sleeping Kylie and brushing the hair from her eyes. Kylie smiled, grasping his hand. He eyelids rose to show her gray-blue eyes, and Kevin brought her hand to his mouth and kissed it gently.2

Kylie chuckled, tugging on his hand. Kevin eagerly climbed over the back of the couch, settling himself behind the couch cushions and draping his arms across his lover.3

“So, how was you day, Love?” Kevin asked, burying his face in her hair. 4

“It’s perfect now that you’re here,” she replied, and the two laughed at the cliché. 5

Kylie closed her eyes again, feeling his breath upon the back of her neck. Soon, she grew bored of the position and turned around, grinning at him.6

“You’re not going to beat me this time.” She teased. 7

“Yes I am.” He replied, trying to resist laughter.8

“Nope. I won last time.”9

“And I won like…twelve times before that!”10

“Yeah, because I let you win!”11

“You want to bet on that?”12

“Usual stakes?”13

Kevin laughed and nodded, and Kylie sat up to let him set up the video games. He handed her a controller and cuddled up next to her, placing his head on her shoulder. Kylie gave a chuckled and played with his hair as the game loaded.14

Kevin punched the air excitedly, kissing Kylie’s cheek and grinning at her. 15

“See? You didn’t let me win. I told you I’d beat you!” he exclaimed, watching as his lover’s face twisted into a mix of embarrassment and mock horror. She turned to him, laughing.16

“I let you win that time. I can beat you this time, watch!”17

Despite Kevin’s tries, Kylie beat him. He sniffed and pointed at her. 18

“You cheated!”19

“How can I cheat at a fighting game?”20

“I don’t know! But you did!” he teased.21

“I didn’t use the same moves over and over like you did!”22

Kevin shook his head and cuddled up to her, turning Kylie’s head with his hand and kissing her lightly on the lips. He then lay his head gently back into its second favorite spot, her shoulder.  23

Kylie playfully pushed his head away, holding his chin so he would look at her. 24

“I beat you.” She said tauntingly, letting go of his face and laying her legs across his lap. Kevin slid his hands around Kylie’s waist and stuck his tongue out. Kylie let out a playful laugh, pulling him close to her and clinging.25
