To Sin

-Two months later-1

Emily strolled through the hallways slowly. Her hair was let down and for once she wasn't dressed up. She was in only a plain white dress.2

Behind her she heard footsteps. As she looked behind her she saw Selene. Her hair was a mess and she was panting. Along side of her was Selene's love interest, Robert. They had been chasing her.3

"Emily!" Selene yelled, bursting forward to come for her again.4

Robert sprinted after her. "Emily! Don't!"5

Emily smiled and ducked into a room. As she closed the door, she turned the lock. The beatings on the door began shortly after but she ignored them.6

Allen stood up from his chair and took her into his arms.7

"Emily! Emily don't do it! Open the door! You don't know what will happen!" 8

Allen glanced at the door then back to Emily. "She doesn't like the idea..."9

"It isn't you. We have never attempted this before. Then again, we never actually had the opportunity to...I am actually scared of what will happen." 10

Emily looked down, fixing her eyes on the carpet below her. Allen bit his lip then put his hand under her chin. He tilted her head up so she was looking at him.11

"Don't be afraid. If anything happens..."12

"If something happens there is no second chance..." Emily trembled a bit.13

"It's worth the risk." 14

After a few seconds, Emily finally nodded. She opened a small box on the dresser. Inside it was a knife. The handle of it was made out of gold. One thing Emily had found from her previous life. 15

"Give me your hands"16

Obediently, Allen held his hands out to her. She picked up the knife and Allen braced himself. Emily carefully made two cuts on his hands. A cut on his left index finger, and another on the palm under the thumb of his left. After she was finished, she made identical ones on herself.17

Allen leaned forward and kissed her. "Here goes nothing."18

Emily put her forehead to Allen's. She locked her hands with his, the cuts on their hands mixing their blood together. 19

Suddenly, the door fell to the floor. Robert and Selene were running into the room. Emily could hear Selene's shrieks of terror but they sounded so far away...So very far away...20

She felt a dizziness come over her. The room was spinning. As she tried to focus her vision on Allen, she could see that he was loosing consciousness. She held tightly to his hands. The darkness came over her.21

It was much colder then she remembered. Then again, there wasn't much to remember. 22

Emily stepped out into the light, her feet brushing against waves of grass and flowers. The streams ran next to her. They were as clear as ever and reflected back the sky.23

Allen pulled himself from one of the streams gasping. 24

"Allen!" Emily yelled as she ran to his side. 25

He sputtered up water before taking a deep breath. Emily held him as he regained himself. He looked around confused.26

"Emily...Where are we...?" 27

She looked up at the clouds. "The void."28

"Emily. Allen." 29

They both turned around. A fairly young looking woman was walking towards them. Her blond hair flowed in waves down to her knees. Around her was pure white animal fur, adorned with magnificent flowers. She was beautiful. 30

"Child, you have brought this boy to me in hopes I will bestow upon him everlasting life...Is that correct?"31

Emily could do nothing but nod.32

"There are consequences. From this point forward you are at the mercy of god. I have the power to bestow upon you what you desire. But should you wish to die, it is in his hands." 33

Allen nodded.34

The woman approached him, crouching down to his level. She looked into his eyes and reached a finger up to him. Allen flinched as the finger pressed against his forehead. It felt as though she had lightly burned him. 35

"Welcome to life my child. Michael the commander. I have taken your eternal soul and made it live once more. From your banishment now you are freed. Freed from the limbo you have been placed in, but instead enslaved to the earth until it is decided your atonement has been achieved."36

And she vanished. 37

Allen looked up at Emily. Her face was slightly pale and she was biting her lip. "Emily...What does that mean? Atonement?"38

"We don't know. This is only our second life. But I'm not too worried about it. We have so much time ahead of us!"39

They both smiled at each other and held hands. 40

"Idiots!" 42

Emily felt a sharp smack across her face. Selene stood before her, face full of furry. She was shaking with rage. "You FOOL! You could have killed both of you!"43

Emily held her cheek and looked around. Allen was sitting up from his place on the floor. He looked more beautiful then ever. "He's one of us now." 44

Selene erupted in laughter. Robert glanced nervously around the room for answers. Selene knocked a vase off of the dresser and let it smash to the floor loudly before storming out the door.45

Robert looked at Allen. "You're immortal...?"46

Allen shrugged. "I guess so..."47

"I wish...I wish I could stay with Selene...Forever. But I know she won't allow it."48

Robert then followed her out the door.49

Allen and Emily exchanged uneasy looks.50
