The young woman shivered and zipped her light jacket up. Frowning, she looked at her watch and give a sigh of repressed impatience. "C'mon, Mark, hurry up!" Tonight was a full moon, and its eerie glow washed over the ground. The pine forest on either side of the road looked crooked and ghostly in the white light. The woman sighed again and sat down on the bench. In the distance a wolf howled. Then another one howled, as if answering. Jackie jumped up and quickly fumbled through her purse for her pepper spray. It was meant for humans, but it could work on animals too...1
Two bright lights appeared in the distance. They slowly climbed over the hill, causing the night to light up. "It's about time." Jackie grumbled and walked towards the edge of the road. The car stopped, and the driver's window pulled down. Jackie gasped and held up her pepper spray. The man laughed and leaned out the window. "Hey, take it easy. Are you Jackie?"2
Jackie frowned and replied, "Depends on who you are."3
"I'm Mark's friend. The football party kinda went late, he's a bit hung-over. Hop in, I'll take you to his place."4
"He promised he would come himself. Why didn't he come?" Jackie said, looking panicked.5
"Look girl, I'm doing Mark a favor. He's drunk, can't drive. You think I wanna be up here in this stupid wasteland? GET IN!" the man shouted.6
Jackie sighed, and looked up at the sky. It would be dawn soon and town was two hours away. So she swung her duffel bag over her shoulder and walked over to the other side of the car. She opened the door, pulled down her cheer-leading skirt and quickly sat down.7
"By the way I'm Dan." the man said. "Sorry I yelled at you, its just woods give me the creeps.8
"Nice to meet you Dan. I think." Jackie mumbled.9
Dan laughed again and started driving. But he wasn't going the way he came from. Jackie didn't notice because she was too busy making sure she had everything. When she finally looked up her face turned a ghostly white and she cried out "Stop, Dan! You're going the wrong way! I need to get back home!"10
"No you don't. You're coming with me, girl," Dan grinned and leaned over. "I've got other plans for you."11
"I need to get home," Jackie whimpered, tears streaming down her face. 12
"I'm hungry." was all he said.13
"Yea, well so am I." Jackie said in a loud voice. 14
She wasn't crying anymore. It looked like she never had. Dan, startled, looked over and nearly screamed. Jackie didn't look human anymore. Her eyes were slits, and they looked like a cat's. Her face was strangely lumpy. Jackie smiled, showing two long fangs. Now she leaned over and sunk her teeth into Dan's neck, slowly drinking his blood. When she was done she opened the driver's door and pushed him out. She moved to his seat, and turned car around. 15
"Almost dawn." Jackie said to herself. She sped up the car and grinned, showing bloody teeth. In the distance another wolf howled. 16
