Magical serenade

"Once, in a parallel universe to our own lived a young boy.  But forgot about the boy for now- let me tell you about his world. It wasn't so different from ours in shape and color, but they lacked a very important thing that we use constantly- magic. Instead, they used something called science to discover different objects to make their every day lives easier. However, people soon started to use science from evil purposes. Weapons were invented and were used to kill people. The people began something called a war. War is where many people fight and die for their cause. However, people can be fooled into going to war for the wrong reasons. A few years ago, such a thing happened. One man wanted to control the entire world, and used his advanced weapons to attack the other countries. Because the other countries were so far behind him, all they could do was run and hide. Yet, one man stood up to him. Instead of science and weapons, he studied magic. The man failed may times, but eventually he managed to accomplish his goal- to open a portal into our world. He kept it open long enough for some people to get through. Sadly, only two children survived. The man closed the portal to our world, taught the rebels how to use magic, and then died peacefully in a bed. The evil leader caught wind of the man's use of magic and learned it himself. Luckily, the man foresaw this and hoped that the people who entered the portal would return to their world, masters of magic."
