Together ; It doesn't feel right at all [Chapter 22]

“Kelsey. Kelsey! Are you ok?” Kelsey’s mother said her faced filled with worry.1

Kelsey looked up to see her mother staring at her.2

“Yeah, my stomach just hurts a bit” Kelsey replied, biting her lip. This was more than just the baby kicking, she was in serious pain.3

“Are you sure?”4

“Yes, now go away.”5

Her mother took one last look at her before heading out of her room. Kelsey lay back down on the bed. She put her hand to her stomach and rubbed gently, something was wrong with her. She hadn’t gone for any check up’s in the past 5 months and now there was something wrong with her. She considered calling Brian, but then she remember they weren’t talking. So she picked up the phone and called James.6

“Hello?”7

“James, there’s something wrong with me, the baby.”8

“What is it?”9

“I don’t know I’m just in a lot of pain and it isn’t the baby kicking; take me to the hospital please.”10

“I’m playing football with they guys Kelsey I just can’t leave.”11

“So you’d rather play football than take me to the hospital for the safety of your baby?”12

“It’s not like that, but it’s probably nothing serious, it’s probably something minor and-”13

“Fine!” Kelsey shouted. “If you’re just going to be a selfish bastard I’ll get someone else to take me!” And with that she hung up. She picked up the phone and called Ashley.14

“Ashley, please you have to find a way to get me to the hospital.” Kelsey begged.15

“What’s wrong Kelsey?”16

“I don’t know Ash; I just have these bad pains in my stomach.”17

“Why don’t you call James?” Ashley asked.18

“I can’t he’s playing football.” Kelsey said, knowing Ashley would have a go at her if she told her what James had said.19

“So?” she asked. “This is his child, it doesn’t matter.”20

“I don’t want to disturb him, ok?” Kelsey said.21

“Fine, what about Brian?”22

“I haven’t spoken to him in months, since I got back with James in fact.”23

“Which did you no good, but I’ll call Brian I’m sure he wouldn’t mind helping you out.” Ashley said.24

“No, I don’t want him to think he’s won.”25

“This isn’t about winning or losing, it’s about your baby and I don’t think Brian is heartless enough not to care just because you chose James. He still cares about you.”26

“Ok whatever.”27

Kelsey put down the phone and quickly changed into her clothes, she dived straight for the phone as soon as it rang.28

“Hello?” she said.29

“It’s me, he said he’d pick me up in 5 minutes and then we’ll be at your in 5minutes. So wait ten minutes ok?”30

“Ok, thank you so much Ash.”31

“No problem.”32

Kelsey went downstairs and got some toast, as she was eating her mother came into the kitchen.33

“Are you sure you’re ok Kelsey?”34

“I said I’m fine, just a bit tired.”35

“Are you sure these past few months you seemed really moody and you also seem to be putting on weight.”36

Kelsey stopped chewing and looked at her mum.37

“Excuse me?” Kelsey said looking at her mum.38

“Well, it’s just you seem a bit podgy.” Her mum said nervously.39

“Well, thank you for the insult, but if you have nothing better to do than that, than I suggest you go away.” Kelsey said icily.40

“I wasn’t trying to insult you I just-”41

She was cut short by the doorbell.42

“Well I have to go now,” Kelsey said standing up and walking to the hall.43

“Go where?” her mother asked.44

“Out with friends, people that at least lie to me about the weight I’ve out on.” Kelsey said.45

“I wasn’t suggesting you were fat because you ate, I was, I…, are you pregnant Kelsey?” Her mother asked finally.46

Kelsey took her coat of the hook and looked at her mum. The pain in her stomach had become unbearable now.47

“Well?” her mother asked gently.48

Now was her chance, she could tell her mum everything.49

“No, I’m not” Kelsey mumbled and opened the door.50

Just as the wind hit her, Kelsey’s legs gave way below her.51
