A little research

27So God created humans to be like himself; he made men and women.1

-Genesis 1:272

21So the LORD God made him fall into a deep sleep, and he took out one of the man's ribs. Then after closing the man's side, 22the LORD made a woman out of the rib. 3

The LORD God brought her to the man, 23and the man exclaimed, 4

"Here is someone like me! 5

She is part of my body, 6

my own flesh and bones. 7

She came from me, a man. 8

So I will name her Woman!" 9

-Genesis 2:21-2310

26He will make those cruel people 11

dine on their own flesh 12

and get drunk from drinking 13

their own blood. 14

Then everyone will know 15

that the LORD is our Savior; 16

the powerful God of Israel 17

has rescued his people. 18

-Isaiah 49:2619

4The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet robes, and she wore jewelry made of gold, precious stones, and pearls. In her hand she held a gold cup filled with the filthy and nasty things she had done. 5On her forehead a mysterious name was written: I AM THE GREAT CITY OF BABYLON, THE MOTHER OF EVERY IMMORAL AND FILTHY THING ON EARTH. 20

6I could tell that the woman was drunk on the blood of God's people who had given their lives for Jesus. This surprising sight amazed me, 21

-Revelations 17:4-622

6They poured out the blood [a] of your people 23

and your prophets. 24

So you gave them blood 25

to drink, 26

as they deserve!" 27

-Revelations 16:628

24On the streets of Babylon 29

is found the blood 30

of God's people 31

and of his prophets, 32

and everyone else." 33

-Revelations 18:2434

53Jesus answered: 35

I tell you for certain that you won't live unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man. 54But if you do eat my flesh and drink my blood, you will have eternal life, and I will raise you to life on the last day. 36

-John 6:53-5437

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.38

-John 3:1639

Lilith is most well-known as the demoness/goddess who was the first woman, created by god at the same time as adam, unlike eve who was created from adam's rib. lilith refused to submit to adam's will and left the garden of eden and was subsequently cursed by god. according to popular opinion, this tale is "evidence" that she was originally a goddess or at the very least an aspect of the great goddess and was demonized for being an independant female. 40

Unfortunately, what many people forget is that the "first eve" story of lilith first appeared in medieval times, in the controversial work known as the alphabet of ben sirah. although lilith herself existed before the middle ages, all earlier descriptions of her were demonic. lilith's true origins are obscure, but both her sumerian and babylonian predecessors were also all demonic. lilith may be many things today, including but not limited to a goddess, a role model, and a demoness, but originally she was purely a demoness. 41

The following links, both to articles on my shrine and elsewhere, all describe some aspect of the historal view of lilith including both modern articles on lilith and of primary sources. some of the articles do touch on modern interpretations as well, but their primary focus is on discussing historical views of her and how they have changed throughout time.42

Soon afterward the young son of the king took ill, Said Nebuchadnezzar, "Heal my son. If you don't, I will kill you." Ben Sira immediately sat down and wrote an amulet with the Holy Name, and he inscribed on it the angels in charge of medicine by their names, forms and images, and by their wings, hands, and feet. Nebuchadnezzar looked at the amulet. "Who are these?" 43

"The angles who are in charge of medicine: Snvi, Snsvi, and Smnglof. After God created Adam, who was alone, He said, 'It is not good for man to be alone' (Gen. 2:18). He then created a woman for Adam, from the earth, as He had created Adam himself, and called her Lilith. Adam and Lilith began to fight. She said, 'I will not lie below,' and he said, 'I will not lie beneath you, but only on top. For you are fit only to be in the bottom position, while am to be in the superior one.' Lilith responded, 'We are equal to each other inasmuch as we were both created from the earth.' But they would not listen to one another. When Lilith saw this, she pronounced the Ineffable Name and flew away into the air. Adam stood in prayer before his Creator: 'Sovereign of the universe!' he said, 'the woman you gave me has run away.' At once, the Holy One, blessed be He, sent these three angles to bring her back. 44

"Said the Holy One to Adam, 'If she agrees to come back, fine. If not she must permit one hundred of her children to die every day.' The angels left God and pursued Lilith, whom they overtook in the midst of the sea, in the mighty waters wherein the Egyptians were destined to drown. They told her God's word, but she did not wish to return. The angels said, 'We shall drown you in the sea.' 45

"'Leave me!' she said. 'I was created only to cause sickness to infants. If the infant is male, I have dominion over him for eight days after his birth, and if female, for twenty days.' 46

"When the angels heard Lilith's words, they insisted she go back. But she swore to them by the name of the living and eternal God: 'Whenever I see you or your names or your forms in an amulet, I will have no power over that infant.' She also agreed to have one hundred of her children die every day. Accordingly, every day one hundred demons perish, and for the same reason, we write the angels' names on the amulets of young children. When Lilith sees their names, she remembers her oath, and the child recovers."  The Alphabet of Ben Sira Question #5 (23a- 47

(c) God then formed Lilith, the first woman, just as He had formed Adam, except that He used filth and sediment instead of pure dust. From Adam's union with this demoness, and with another like her named Naamah, Tubal Cain's sister, sprang Asmodeus and innumerable demons that still plague mankind. Many generations later, Lilith and Naamah came to Solomon's judgement seat, disguised as harlots of Jerusalem'. 448

Author notes

A little research i threw together. I take no credit for researching the bottom half, as that was found in A hebrew text, however, I personally, found the sections in the bible, and copied them out. Anyway, it might be interesting to read. I mean no offence by this, it is merely a collection of verses from the Bible, and a little ancient Hebrew, make what you want of it.
