Life Is A Play

For everyone I encountered during my short stay on earth, thank you for doing your bit to help me complete my experience. 1

Life is like a play in which I was not allocated a leading role. I was one of the crowd; loved by few, not known to many. 2

Let the tears you cry in my honour become your healing power to cleanse you of your grief. 3

Act as though you are not mourning to the audience who watch you eagle-eyed. 4

Only when you are off stage should you stop bottling up your thoughts. 5

However do not grieve me too much for the show must go on and your role is not yet complete.6

This poet who wrote this is so masterly at giving words life and making them speak, even in the light of this piece, it rings with wonder. I haven't often thought of this part of my life but when I read this, it sort of made me wonder just I would want to say.

Let the tears you cry in my honour become your healing power to cleanse you of your grief. 3

My favourite line which speaks so well and says much. This takes me back to my father before he died and it brought a tear to me. You are a very deep and sincere writer who sees things that are astounding and you show them to us in your pieces. Thank oyu for sharing. an oldie but a goodie.

      Condor,

Awh, thank you! This is one that I've often thought about editing & extending it, but then I stop and think, "No, - it's what I wrote/felt back then, and that would take from the power of it".

I think the original thing that prompted me was the idea of how WOULD you encourage those who love you to go on after you die; to the best of their abilities

Am sorry to hear you have lost your father; and thank you so much for all the kindly words

    It isn't me.

I did not know you gained points from commenting. So it isn't me.

    A thinking person ...

is always a good thing and reflections are just a 'new sense of awareness'! I liked the way you share.

Thank you Babs, you always write such sweet honest replies to my work, and manage to lift me up even when I'm feeling down just to see them.

That's somewhat along the lines of what I was aiming for - it was inspired by the very famous reflection that begins 'death is nothing. i have merely passed away to the next room' - absolutely amazing.

Interesting write here. This is very bittersweet. It almost read like a bunch of quotations strung together until they made sense...but I did like it very much. Write on, story teller.

    Incredible Work

*WOW* Symphony, that was soooo depressing. I can almost find a bittersweet solace in it. Well done!

Thank you Driscoll, your comments are always so pleaseant to read - and show that you do actually read the stuff, rather than skimming and leaving comments to gain points (as I know some do as their comments never tie in with the poems in question )

    Cheers mate

    awesome

writing poems about yourself is always interesting as we the poet and human being can onlyimagine how they will be missed. symphony, you took an approach that other poets on this site rarely take. While they talk about killing themselves they don't think about what happens afterwards. well done.

Awww, sweet way of looking at life and death, full of good imagery, and a nice moral.

    Well done, and good luck
