Alone

I spent a life time not knowing what I was missing.1

And then one sunny afternoon I met you.2

I had spent so long not knowing who I was, that I had forgotten to keep looking.3

I met you, and you made me smile.4

You brought joy to my life, and after a while I no longer was just me, I defined myself by you.5

If you were not there any longer, I would lose myself again.6

You used to wake me up in the morning with a smile on your face.7

You would stare at me, and I would see all the love in your eyes.8

I could lose myself in your arms.9

The world was not scary when I knew I had you to pick me up.10

You saved me from the fear a new life had cast into me,11

And you loved me when no one else did.12

You were my life, my love, my only… 13

And then you were gone.14

I wait for you every day. 15

I stare out the window, and I wait to see you walk around the bend.16

They tell me to come out and visit them.17

But I tell them I am waiting for you to come home.18

Sometimes I hear your voice.19

Sometimes I feel you when I hug up to your clothes.20

I smell you in them, and I lock myself in the room.21

You no longer smile at me.22

Your not there to hug me when I need you.23

But I wait and I wait.24

And I don’t accept that you are dead.25

And that you will never walk through the door again. 26
