Outside of the small pink bricked house she stared at the two people inside through the window. The man laid back on the red couch with his chocolate colored hair pointing in every which-way. His eyes rolled behind his eyelids while his arms wrapped around a young fire headed grass eyed pale girl who was staring directly at the young maiden outside her window.1
She wasn’t frightened though and felt no need to move. She knew the woman inside couldn’t see her. She was too heavily hidden. She contemplated on how she was going to go about her business. Should she knock on the door and pretend to be a lost frightened little girl? No. Last time she tried that the people called the police to find her “so called parents.” 2
Should she climb up onto the roof and go down the chimney? No. She’d burn herself again. And she didn’t want to go through the window or the door undetected. She’s done that once too many. No, for this night, she wanted something different, something new to try. She was early after all. She shifted her position as the woman inside turned around to watch her sleeping fiancé. The wind howled and cut through the pathetic sighing trees.3
The air began to grow heavy around her like a giant quilt settling over her. Her lips curled up into a wicked smile as she watched the young woman wake the man and help him off to bed. She knew exactly what she was going to do.
