Prologue;1
Behind every perfect, happy family there are secrets no one else will ever know just by looking. The ones who know keep their mouths shut and their eyes closed to convince themselves that everything that happens behind closed curtains is considered normal. To them and everyone else. 2
That one day we created our own little secret, my sister and me. We, too, decided to keep our mouths shut and eyes closed from that day on. No one else would ever find out. No one else would know about our secret. A secret we have been working towards to for an amount of time we had yet to count. We analyzed, made a plan and took action. 3
It didn’t change my life, at all. And it didn’t change me. But once our story took shape and could be labeled as a secret, my sister couldn’t escape. Not from the past nor the newborn secret that was tearing her apart. I watched her crumble inside when her outer appearance changed no less through time. It were feelings that broke her down; guilt, sadness and regret. 4
And me; I didn’t feel like I had to feel anything.5
To me, it was just one of those things that should’ve happened all along. There was no room to feel. Because then, I’d end up just like her.6
