There he was.1
5th February 1984.
The wind blew mercilessly over the somewhat rotting playground. The swing chains protested to and fro and the use-worn seats looked lonely and forgotten in the desolate coming of twilight. 2
Carlotta stepped from the sidewalk and hastily crossed the black tarmac her pumps leaving lighter marks on the dampened surface.3
Her long, thick copper hair was not visible for it's beauty since it was pulled tightly back into a neat and well-presented bun, tucked carefully into the perfect curl.4
On first sight Carlotta was often mistaken for the usual girl she looked. Uptight, well presented, higher class. Her 3/4 length coat done up to the base of her rosey skin gave no imagination to her bodily structure, it clung to her chest and the cinched tie around the waist gave the garment a pleated almost rugged effect.5
Her slender fingers withdrew deeper into the warm pockets as she strode briskly across the deserted green. "Fucking weather" she cussed under her breath, her eyes dark and cold staring dismally over the sight.6
The skin on her neck crawled as the seesaw gave an unauthorised groan, her pupil's dilating, fearing the worst. She widened her path around the playground despite straight through being the easiest way.7
After a few more minutes of hearing the light tread of her own feet on grass, Carlotta moved to the safety of the neighbouring pavement where she picked up a brisk stride with the intent of getting home.8
She knew the roads well and who wouldn't having lived there all their life, but something about tonight would send her heart into the core of her throat and give her a night to remember..
Author notes
This is the beginning of a short story. The first line "And there he was" was given by a friend as a challenge to produce a text.
