Prometheus's Gift IX - A New Tale

    Sundown.  A park bench.
Across the street the tavern was now speckled in red and blue and shut down for the night.  In front a queue of battered and bruised drunks were being escorted cursing and muttering into a paddy wagon.  Zeus, naturally, wasn't amongst them, already escaped into the aethereal and evanescing fogs of mortal's minds (and, obviously, entertaining his newfound wenches).
"With mine own eyes," sighed Brynhildr, "I have seen the sky blush more than one million times.  What I would give to see it blush one million more."  She turned her head but didn't look at Prometheus.  "Are you okay, girl?"
"Oh yes."  Prometheus erased one tear then the other.  "Do forgive my lachrymose nature.  I know in such matters I weep far too easily and far too often but I cannot help it."
"There is no shame here."  She sat on the bench beside him, posture no longer so perfect.  "My task was once to take the brave warriors who had met their ends in glory on the battlefield and escort them to their rewards of eternal feasting and wenching.  It still is, in a way, but such tasks can... harden a libido.  This is what we are, this is what we do, Prometheus, and we will not answer for it.  To anyone."  She allowed him a moment to collect and straighten himself out.  She leaned closer.  "Now.  I must ask:  Given what you've just seen, are you so sure it's wise to allow them such prepotency?"
Prometheus shook out his last breaths, now calmed.  But all he could do was look ahead and remain silent.
"Were they like us this whole city block would be in ruin.  Another decade long war begun."  She studied the unreacting Prometheus, whom steadfastly looked ahead.  "Alas, I still sense a small hope and an nigh unbreakable conviction.  Perhaps I may succeed where Zeus failed.  The reason I sought you out, girl, is that I have a tale to tell.  One we all must know and it's not one of you or me or any deity.  It is far far worse than us.  It's a tale of mortals, as told by an Eastern friend of ours..."

Zeus, naturally, wasn't amongst them, already escaped into the aethereal and evanescing fogs of mortal's minds (and, obviously, entertaining his newfound wenches). - LOL! Words cannot even describe how awesome and entertaining your stylings are. I swear i laugh that little bit harder every time.

A very short segment but still up to the usual standard. Sigh, i never have anything major to suggest. You're always so helpful with mine but i'm just so happy with the way this is now, you know?
