Little Hearts
It was summer. I was moving up into year 7, into the big school (Secondry), first year in only two more weeks. I was meeting up with friends from year 6 (junior school). I was meeting up with Lily, Kath, my two bestfriends! I was also meeting up with one of my close friends, Ricky. He was bringing his friend Tom with us. We were going to the woods, and sleeping out in a cabin. Of course there will be adults, but they'll be in their CABIN. We'll be in OURS.
I got dressed into my tight vest top, which was bright pink. It showed how big my small, humble breasts were growing. I wore my cute bra aswell, which had small hearts patterened on it. I shoved on my denim shorts and my white pumps. I brushed my long, wavy brunette hair. I looked into the mirror. I was proud of my curvy figure I was getting. I also had quite a big bum. I don't want to boast or anything. But growing up into your teens seemed exciting to me! I looked at my wrist which had a 'best friend' bracelet Ricky made me. I was chuffed with it. Even though you wouldn't expect a boy making you 'BFFL' bracelets, but I just told everyone he was being sweet, and being a great friend. My older brother, who was fifteen, would skit me. Saying he was my 'boyfriend' but I laughed at his remarks and pushed him out of my way most of the time. He was a very untidy boy. Greasy black hair. His clothes were always BAGGY, which was disturbing, and he ate like a pig! He was a pig anyway, yet again, PIGS would be much cleaner then him.
I skipped down stairs, dragging my small, yellow suitcase behind me.
"Jesus christ Tiff. You're only staying a week!" I sighed, carefully placing the suitcase against the stairs.
"Mam! EXACTLY, a week!" My mother crossed her arms and looked at the small suitcase which looked like it was about to burst.
"What have you got in there? Your whole cupboard?" I grinned.
"Close, but no. I have my clothes, my summer clothes and winter... y'know, just incase. And I also have my make-up and deodrant and oh of course, MY BOOKS, my diaries and-"
"And your underwear I hope." I sighed to see Ben behind me. THE grease bag.
"Well DUH." He snorted. I cringed at the sight of him.
"I'm not a slag like you Ben. Seriously, you need to get a WASH." He stepped forward near me, I stepped a MILE back away from him.
"SLAGS are people who go with too many guys and just use them, they're not people who don't wash." I tutted at him.
"Incorrect. Slags are people who cannot take care of themselves- such as CLEANING themselves. That's what SLAG actually means, that's it's real definiton, so really- IT'S definition in a dictionary... would be." I shrugged playfully.
"You..." I bit my lip acting all 'Oh sorry, but y'know...' My mother just sighed and turned away from us. Ben glared at me.
"Well to be honest, I'd rather be that 'SLAG' I'm known for instead of a slapper who wears tight tops and short shorts to impress her 'Ricky'!" He burst out, laughing. Impressed with his comeback. I opened my mouth then closed it again.
"Atleast I-I can look nice. No wonder Kate dumped you- your a mess. She called you a scruff you see." I wasn't lying ethier, before she decided to dump the PIG, she told me what she thought of him, and only went with him to make him feel worth while. I agreed with her at the time and said I wouldn't be angry at her anyway. She just replyed with a 'that's why I told you!' Ben looked at me, glaring even more. His eyes reflecting flames.
"Shut it! She only dumped me because- because... because we lived too far away from each other!" He spat at me fiercely. I chuckled at his excuse.
"She lives round the corner dipstick." He aimed for me but I dodged, giggling.
"YOU TWO STOP BEING PATHETIC CHILDREN AND ACT YOU'RE AGE, BEN JUST GO WATCH SOME TV OR SOMETHING!" Dad screeched from the kitchen, he was obviously reading his newspaper, telling by his irritated voice. We obviously distracted him.
"Yeah Ben, go." His hands were in fists, his knuckles pale as snow. He glared at me once more and stormed upstairs. I sighed, relieved I didn't lose at the PIG. I walked to the window, to see Ricky's car pull up outside. Well not his car, but his mums. I ran to get my bag, I checked everything was in my suitcase and everything. I ran to the door.
"MAM I'm going, see ya! I'll text you!" I grabbed my charger for my phone from the corner table in the hallway and shoved it in a front pocket of the suitcase.
"Bye love!" cried out my mum which faded as I shut the door behind me. I smiled at Ricky as he smiled back. He grew his hair so it was skimming his ears, he had a tiny fringe now, aswell. He had brown hair like me and green eyes. His skin, was also olive.
"Hi, long time no see." He walked up beside me, slipping his hands into his pockets. I looked into his car, noticing Tom in the car, besides Kath.
"Yeah. Wheres Lily?" He looked up at the car.
"She's been ill lately, she decided to stay home. She didn't want to risk giving us it." I looked at him, he was squinting as the sunlight shone in his eyes.
"Oh. Why is is like.. swine flu or something?" He chuckled at my suggestion. I didn't mean it as a joke, but I just played along with him.
"No, well I hope not. But it'll just be sun stroke, she was out all day, trying to get a tan." I mimed an 'oh' and gripped my suitcase. Ricky showed me the way to his car. I walked right round it, to sit next to Kath, who excitedly waved and clapped as soon as I got into the car. Ricky got in the front, with his Mam.
"OH isn't this going to be SO exciting." She turned to Ricky's mam.
"Thank you SO much for inviting us Mrs Woods." Mrs Woods laughed.
"It's no problem, Ricky was telling me how desprate he wanted to see yous all before you went into the big school." Kath turned to Ricky.
"HOW sweet of you Ricky." She turned to Tom and cringed at the sight of him.
"OK, no offence Tom, you're going to BE boiling in that sweater, its hotter then a oven today." Tom laughed.
"If it was hotter then a oven, we'd be dead, so sh." Kath shook her head at him. She looked at me and I just shrugged, being silent the whole journey to the woods.
When we got there, light was shining through the trees, making tiny spotlights on the ground. We got out the car with our bags and ran right to the cabin... well Kath and Tom did, but I decided to walk slowly, breathing in natures air. Ricky was about to join Kath and Tom, but he saw me alone and decided to walk with me.
"You were silent in the car. Yet again your always silent in car trips." I smiled, looking at the ground, watching my feet shuffling across the leaves and twigs.
"I look out the window alot I guess. I like to watch landscapes and stuff. It just makes the journey faster." Ricky laughed.
"Your such a GEEK arn't ya?" I looked at him offended then I look back at all the stuff I love and realized I was one. He saw my offended look and waved his hands, backing off.
"I didn't mean it in a nasty way." I smiled.
"I know." We both walked to the Cabin. Tom had the key and was already in the Cabin with Kath.
"I CHOOSE THIS BED!" Yelled Kath, as she jumped on the bed in a corner. When she is asleep, she likes her back facing the wall. Tom choosed a bed nearest to the door.
"I'd like to get up early and see all the bears." He growled, scaring Kath. She huffed and started unpacking her stuff.
"I'll choose this one." I said, walking to a bed, also in a corner, next to a window. Like I said to Ricky, I loved looking out the windows, and the window I was sleeping next to was easy to see out of, by just lying down. Ricky chose the bed, in the middle of me and Kaths. Toms bed was the other side of the room.
"I'm glad I'm alone." Kath giggled.
"You have no friends that's why, you emo." Tom was an emo, long black hair, black clothing, skull belts, he even slit his wrists sometimes. But he says hes giving that all up soon. He'll shave his hair, and wear manly vest tops, and look like a buff man. Kath and me cried with laughter when he first said this, in year 6, making him depressed about it.
We didn't bother hiking or anything that night, we just unpacked and told ghost stories in the cabin, well, Tom did.
"And that little girl, screeching in the night, always runs around skipping around the well, she fell in. She'd yell aloud 'wish in the well, wish in the well, WISH IN THE WELL!' then she'd-" That's when Kath pushed him, cuddling into me, she was scared. We went to bed atleast 00:30am. Tom groaned in his sleep, while Kath snored sweetly, softly and quietly. Ricky didn't make any sound, I soon realized when I turned over from facing the window, Ricky was wide awake looking at me, I was sure of it. But he quickly closed his eyes, the moment I faced him. He soon gave in, after I whispered his name several times.
"I'm awake, yes, I'm awake!" He whispered harshly.
"Ok..." I whispered back facing the window again. I heard him breathe deeply before asking me,
"Rose?" I turned once again facing him.
"Yes?" I whispered back. I saw him bite his lip, but I wasn't sure, it was quite dark, with only the full moon shining in onto my bed, he could obviously see me, I barely saw him.
"Erm.. night." He whispered quickly, sighing. I knew that wasn't what he had in his mind, but I just accepted it for now.
"Night, see you in the morning." I turned over, feeling like he was still watching me.
