Tobago

Tobago 2

In a heavy-bellied old boat with an opaque glass bottom, through which nothing showed but violent currents of swizzled, water rushing past beneath us we sped toward the reef.3

Beneath shimmering salt water, banked in by the lagoons, and a white sand island fortress and beyond, dark blue sea hazing far into a hairline fracture of horizon there, fire coral lay, waiting to burn the heel that crushed it and fish, that feared flesh enough to bite into it lurked...4

Yet everyone embraced water as though it were the temperate womb...5

But me—6

So, remaining on that boat, envisioning what terrors lay beneath, drifting slowly to and fro,I watched the others delighting in the surf beneath the blue world that welcomed them so.7

Author notes

(Note to readers:
I'm moving this frm a poem to a story and so it is a work in progress)

Main themes: fear of the unknown (life esp) and isolation and alienation that results.

Some vivid visuals created through your words in these lines of your creative poem. Nicely written - flows easily and strongly, one line to the next.
