It's got an interesting cynicism to it. You've got the start and end of the typical fairytale in here, and it seems you're mocking them, and the fairytale in general. Going for a broken real-life fairytale? Or maybe just a realistic version of the real world, or even a realistic telling of an old fairytale. All of those would be awesome; the hook is definitely unique!

Interesting little quote...I am not sure if it really hooked me or not, it does not necesarily seem like something that would make a story, but it would be a great quote all by itself. Loved the line though
