The world in the mirror chapter 4

Chapter Four1

Sarah and Charlie were worried about David, he was all alone in the castle, but they knew that if they went to get him they would get caught too and then they would never save Sadaia. They decided to get the king to help them, but to do that they had to find his daughter. They had spent hours looking in all of the obvious places that she would be, but then they realised that the queen and Dre were too smart to stick her in a cave or in an old house.2

That day, the vicar was helping people find what they need. Mr Tom thought that this might help them find the princess and took Sarah to see the vicar. The church was the main part of the town. It was big and old, the walls were grey, and the giant clock looked like it was about to fall off. It was an amazing place, even if it was old and a bit broken. Even though it looked bad on the outside, the inside was picturesque. The big stained glass windows were colourful and well detailed. The benches were full with people and the walls rang with cheerful singing. At the front of the big hall, there was a line of 15-20 people looking in the gigantic mirror at the front when it was their turn. Sarah and Mr Tom joined the line.3

Twenty minutes later they were third in line. The woman looking in the mirror could see a man, he was holding her, but only in the reflection, he wasn’t really there. She was crying. Tears streamed down her face and Sarah remembered he mother and father for a second but just thought of something else so she didn’t get upset.4

“My husband,” she sniffled. 5

“It’s okay, just wait. Those three children are so close to saving us. He’ll get out of the castle any day now!” said the vicar. She smiled and the people in the crowed clapped. The next person in line looked at the mirror. It was a little boy, about 6 years old. He saw his mum and dad standing behind him with a teddy. He was crying and the vicar comforted him with a hug and some advice.6

“Okay, next please,” said the vicar, “Ah, Sarah. It’s great to see you; you are doing so well with these tasks. Now stand in front of the mirror.” Sarah did, and saw a little girl about her age staring back at her. She had long blonde hair, green eyes and pale skin. A tear rolled down her face as Sarah could see a broken heart shaped scar on her chest. This little girl was not Sarah. Sarah had long brown hair and blue eyes. She mouthed “help me” and put her hands on the glass.7

In the background the crowed of people started whispering “It’s the princess!” Sarah put her hands together with the princess’ and then the mirror cracked, and slowly made a crack all the way down. Sarah couldn’t move her hands. It was like they were stuck together. A golden light glowed from the mirror and Tina, the princess stepped out.8

“Thank you so much, I can’t believe that you found me. I thought that I was going to be trapped in there forever. My dad! I need to see my dad! I’ll take you to the castle. Let’s go!” Sarah said quickly.9

Sarah, Charlie and Tina were invisible, and snuck into the castle. The king was in a small room, on a throne staring at his feet. He had a crown on his head but you could see his short blonde hair, the same colour as Tina’s.10

“Dad!” Tina screamed, “I’m okay!”11

The King was wearing a baggy shirt, the buttons were down, and you could see his chest. Just like Tina’s chest, he had a scar of a broken heart. They ran together and hugged. As they joined, they rose up off the floor and hovered in the sky, they spun around and colours flew around them as the two scars joined together and made a full heart on their chests and disappeared. They were crying and hugging and talking for a few minutes, when the king said, “I’m so glad to have you back, I’ve missed you so much. I’m going to kill that evil witch that took you from me.” 12

“We need your help finding the spell,” said Charlie. 13

“Yes, they’re in the sky, the stars!” said the king.14

“There in the stars? How are we supposed to get them out of the stars?” asked Sarah15

“No they are the stars! Dre turned the spells into stars; you just need to take them out of the sky. I think that the spell for the light is the green star.”16

“Charlie, you could fly Emaco up and get them!” suggested Sarah.17

“I’m kind of scared of heights, but I guess I could.” Charlie said. He was scared of heights, but knew that he had to do this for Sadaia, they needed him to. 18

They were all ready to fly up, icicles dripped from the treetops and the sky was black. Emaco, the dragon, was ready. On his back there was a little saddle for Charlie and a light so that they could see what they were doing. The spell star had a tinge of green in it so Charlie knew which one he was going to.20

Charlie jumped on the dragon’s back and Emaco started to wave his wings up and down slowly. Gradually they got faster and faster until he rose up into the sky. Emaco was still quite week so it took a while for him to fly. Charlie had a scared look on his face as if to say “Get me down from here!” but didn’t say anything because he had to do this. In his hands he had a small brown bag with a string around the top. They got higher by the second until Sarah looked like a tiny stick person. Soon they were up in the stars and were searching for the green one. 21

“Look, it’s over there!” shouted Charlie. He pointed to a star with a shine of green. It sparkled as they flew over to it. He went to grab it but it quickly zoomed away. Then he went to grab it for a second time but it flew away again. It was going really fast and so were Charlie and Emaco when suddenly he caught it but fell off the dragon and was holding really tight onto its wing. Charlie held the star tight in his other hand the points were sharp and were digging in to his hand, but that wasn’t really what he was worried about. They were so high up; if he fell he would die. His hand almost slipped a few times but he managed to hold on. Emaco flew down to the ground quickly and Charlie struggled to keep his grip. Within seconds they were on the ground and Charlie put the star in the bag and the sky lit up. The star was small, smaller than 8cm but he edges were sharp and it had cut Charlie’s hand when he was holding it .It was bleeding quite fast and there was lots of blood. Sarah ran towards him with a bandage, so he was ok. The sun came out and the sky was blue. People ran out of their houses singing, dancing and hugging friends and family. Everyone hugged and spoke to Charlie, who had just broken a spell that had been there for thousands of years. He was so proud of himself for conquering his fear of heights. Sarah congratulated him and gave him a hug. She was so happy that he had done it and was okay, but she couldn’t stop thinking about David, and started to wonder if her mum and aunt had just forgotten about them.22

So they had now done 4 out of 5 tasks, but they had only 1 day left to do the last task and David was locked up in the castle somewhere. The last task was to kill the evil queen and the wizard Dre. They couldn’t kill Dre and the queen on their own. They did have the king to help them but they still had to find their brother. They started to wonder if the last task was possible.23

is it good for a 13 year old??
