Chapter One: A revelation.1
A dark shadow crossed the empty street of Lavender Avenue and soon, the moonlight that was cast upon the lonely road disappeared behind the many moving clouds.2
An old brick house sat at the end of the road and was as dark as the night, it was the only house that could be seen for miles and at first glance, it was as empty as the forest surrounding it. 3
The peeling pant and rooting wood planks gave the first glance an impression of age, there was a small overgrown garden to the left of the house and an old water pump on the right. The only thing that seemed out of place was the new and shiny automobile that stayed hidden in the garage.4
Of course, if one looked closer they would have seen something else that seemed terribly out of place in this weathered beaten up home.5
A girl was leaning out of the far left window, she had long brown hair and deep brown eyes, and she was staring deep into a sky that was almost as serene as she appeared in that very moment.6
The night air was cold against her skin and she shivered. Pulling her cloak tighter she reminisced over what had just happened. Two small tears slid down her cheeks and she moved a clumsy hand to wipe them clean.7
The horrid words of a previous conversation came back to her and she doubled over at the sharp pain in her stomach. Sinava knew that she had had to do such a thing, but it had hurt so much.8
Slapping the sill she pulled back in and shut the four-paned glass window. 9
”Sinava, honestly, you don’t need to be like this. Just… stop thinking about it!”10
There was another girl in the room; she was shorter than Sinava but just as attractive and perhaps a bit more emotionally stable. 11
Standing up, Chiviss walked over to her friend, the dark curls of her hair framed her petite, round face and made her blue eyes seem abnormally bright.12
“You knew something like this would happen. Give healing a little bit more time, ok?” She gently lifted Sinava’s chin as the tears overflowed in the girl’s eyes. “You will see, Sinava.”13
”Yeah, ok and tomorrow we can go down to the river and catch fish!” The sarcasm in her voice wasn’t lost on Chiviss. 14
“Don’t get an attitude with me, Sinava.” Chiviss put a hand on the girl’s shoulder, “Just because you’re upset gives you no reason to take your emotions out on someone innocent. Like me.”15
“Whoever said you were innocent?” Sinava said with a smirk. 16
She pushed Chiviss’ hand aside and walked over to her bed. 17
The black mahogany of the bed frame added to the intimidating darkness of the girl’s room. Slowly moving the silk canopy, she threw herself on the bed and buried her head into one of her many pillows. 18
Chiviss only stood there and stared. She knew that Sinava was hurt, not only emotionally but mentally as well. It was beyond the girl’s attitude or comprehension to hurt another being and survive the trauma of it easily. It would take time; lots of it, and Chiviss knew that when Sinava did come out of this, she would be a changed person.19
“There are bigger things in the world to worry about, Sinava.” Chiviss stood still, staring at the child that she had raised since day one. It was no wonder the two women were almost alike, they had lived with each other, in each other’s presences for their entire lives. 20
“Damn, Kenon.” Chiviss cursed under her breath. She should have been more cautious when that boy showed up, with Sinava this unstable and irritable it could screw up all the preparation she had so carefully established over the years.21
Sinava drew a pillow under her chin and shivered once more, not from the chill of the air, but from the chill in her mind. 22
It had all started three years ago, she had met him at a social gathering, and his charm and playful attitude had appealed to her greatly. In time, she grew to him and he to her. The two of them fell in love and became close. But, as time passed, an overwhelming desire came into Sinava’s heart and it buried her mind in doubts and yearnings. Something was telling to her move on, get away from him; someone else had something else in plan for her.23
”Was I being selfish? Chiviss?” 24
Chiviss shrugged and walked over to the bed. Carefully moving to sit down next to Sinava, thought to herself for a moment. 25
Finally, she spoke, “No, I don’t think you’re being selfish.” She leaned over and brushed some of the curly brown locks out of Sinava’s eyes. “I do, however, think you’re blind. Quit trying to make everyone happy and for once in your life think of yourself.” Then with a kiss on her forehead, Chiviss left the girl to her misery.26
The morning air blew cold against Chiviss’ cloak and she shivered as she made her way up the brick stones and onto the porch. The dark house looked empty from the outside. The curtains were pulled shut and the front yard was a quiet as a graveyard. Untying her hood and pulling it down, Chiviss knocked on the door and waited for Sinava to answer. 27
Sinava was lying in the velvet red, padded chair by her window when she heard the knock on the door. Very slowly, she made her way down the stairs and unlocked the thick, heavy wooden door. 28
Sinava’s drooping figure was framed in the doorway as she reached out to grabbed Chiviss’ wrist. Pulling her in and closing the door Sinava leaned against the door and slid down to the floor. She looked terrible and felt terrible. After a sleepless night, she had spent all morning moping around the house and had eaten nothing. Her hair was matted and under her eyes were dark circles, she wore the same black garments that she had sported yesterday and her lips were chapped. 29
Chiviss sighed and kneeled down towards the girl. “Why are humans so emotional?” She said to herself. Pushing Sinava’s face up she looked her hard in the eyes. “You need to eat something.” She said simply. “Come on.” 30
The two friends said nothing as they went into the sunlit kitchen. From the two oversized, oval shaped windows, sunlight poured in and made the kitchen bright and somewhat cheery. 31
Chiviss sat Sinava in a chair and went over to the refrigerator. 32
Sinava’s head swam and she put her hand to her face. “I don’t feel right, Chi, it’s like there’s something pulling me.”33
Chiviss paid no mind and continued to fix something to eat. She set a bowl of salad and a cup of water in front of Sinava. 34
A look of remembrance crossed over Sinava’s face as she took a bite of the salad. 35
“I had a dream last night, Chi.”36
Chiviss closed the fridge door and went over to the counter; she began to look for bread, planning to make herself a sandwich. 37
“Oh? Was it a good dream?”38
Sinava shook her head slowly, “It was a weird dream.” She took another bite of the salad, “You were in it. So was this man… he kind of scared me.”39
“And why did he do that, Nava?” Chiviss absentmindedly used Sinava’s childhood nickname. She had moved down the countertop still unsuccessful in her search for the loaf of bread.40
“He was my twin.” Sinava said, “And he wanted to kill you.” She shrugged, “It was just random… nothing too cra-- Chi? What’s the matter?” 41
Glancing up, Sinava suddenly noticed that Chiviss had stopped her endless search for the bread. 42
Chiviss didn’t say anything; she started breathing quickly, “Um, nothing is wrong.” She shook her head a little and grabbed the loaf of bread that had been sitting on the counter the entire time. “That is a little creepy though.”43
Chiviss sat down next to Sinava and encouraged her to eat. “Have you hear from Alessander?”44
Sinava took a bite of the salad and shook her head. Unknowingly, Sinava’s pretend friend, Alessander, was an actual being. He never appeared to Sinava when Chiviss was around, but had comforted the girl and spoke to her words of wisdom of which she held dear to her heart.45
Sinava pushed the bowl away from her and laid her head on the table. 46
“I haven’t spoke to anyone except you. Why does it all hurt so much, Chiviss?” She looked up at her only friend, so much like herself, yet so different. Her brown eyes pleading for an explanation and a way to escape. 47
Chiviss cringed slightly inside, she knew that Sinava was going to suffer, but she held her tongue obediently. “Come on, lazy.” She stood up and helped Sinava up. “Time to work out. Go upstairs and change.” 48
Sinava’s white padded feet bounced along the floor as she made her way down to the basement. Sinava lived in no ordinary house; it had been reconstructed to accommodate her needs, physically, emotionally and mentally. 49
Her basement was her training room. It was her own little room in which she could stretch her mind and push forward her strength to no limit. Chiviss was the only person other than Sinava who had actually been into these rooms, and even so, it was only to assist with the physical activities. The meditating room and the mind-expanding room were entirely off limits to Chiviss, though she knew what went on in them.50
Sliding down the last few steps, Sinava stood for a moment and stared at the three, wooden doors that faced her. Each one was the opening to a new thought, action or lesson that would help her survive.51
Finally, she chose the workout room. She needed to touch base with something solid and real. A real something, something that wasn’t just in her mind or in her heart, but actually in front of her. 52
She walked quickly into the room and shut the door behind her. Flipping on the switch to the lights, the fluorescent lights flickered and then came to life revealing the blue padded mats on the ground, several beams, bars and vaults and a large mirror for her to watch and spot for herself.53
It looked like an average gymnasium, or a more specified work out room. There were weights lined along the wall, several benches for people to sit on, though there never were any people in that room, and there were, large, gray cabinets that lined the walls. 54
Sinava walked swiftly out to the middle of the blue mat and sat down to go through with her stretches. Taking only minutes, she moved her arms and legs to bend in odd positions and held the position for a few moments before switching to another. It helped her much and after stretching her muscles for peak performance she walked over to one the metal cabinets that was on the left wall. 55
Turning a combination on the padlock, she pulled it opened revealing its contents. 56
There were almost a hundred different kinds of artillery in this mere one cabinet. This specific cabinet held an assortment of knives, swords and pokes. 57
Reaching in, Sinava pulled out her set of Sais and then reached in for a pair of leather gloves that hung on the side of the cabinet.58
While she was walking, Sinava slipped on each glove and then flipped her Sais into her hands for the best comfort.59
“Ok, Sinava.” She thought grimly to herself as she looked into the mirror in front of her. “Clear your mind. Set your goal. Make a limit. Then…” She moved her right leg in front of her and leaned down into battle stance. Her left arm came out to balance herself and she moved her wrist to point at the floor. 60
“Forget about everything, Sinava.” She lifted her right arm to a 90-degree angle above her head and slowly brought it down to steady her breathing. “You’re in control.” Her dark brown eyes flashed and she stood up slowly, arms coming to her side, “You are the master.” 61
Bending her arms for the first thrust, she was just about to go into formation when something stopped her.62
A small light flashed on Sinava's wrist followed by a long beep. 63
She stopped and stared at herself for a minute. A second later, it happened again. 64
Sighing with irritation, she relaxed and set the Sias down to walk over to the intercom. 65
Pressing the button, she said into the small white machine, “Yeah, Chiviss?”66
The intercom was a requirement that Chiviss had established; she had one placed in every room of the house so that they would never be out of contact. 67
“Trust me,” She had told Sinava. They were in the living room putting in the main central COM for the entire house, “One of these days, you’re going to be grateful we installed these.”68
Sinava laughed, “Whatever you say goes, Chiviss.” She ran her finger along the white frame of the intercom. “Whatever you say.”69
Chiviss was upstairs in the kitchen attending to the daily duties of keeping the house clean and acceptable when she heard a strange noise coming from upstairs. “Was that the intercom?” She said to herself. 70
Pausing, she listened hard and the sound came again, this time heavier than before. 71
Her eyes widened when she realized what it was.72
She glanced upstairs at the ceiling with a frantic look and the small creaking of the floor confirmed that someone was upstairs.73
“But, Sinava is downstairs.” She thought to herself, “I saw her go down, myself.” 74
Moving quickly, she threw the rag she was using onto the counter and ran into the living room. Perched up on the mantel, above the fireplace, was the only weapon in the house that wasn’t kept locked, a thin bladed sword. 75
Everything else, Sinava used downstairs for training. 76
Scrambling for the mantel, Chiviss could feel her heart beating quickly and her fingers became raw as she scratched them along the brick.77
“They couldn’t have found us.” She tried desperately to convince herself. A small switch stuck out and her fingers bumped into it. With a satisfied sigh, she switched it on, just in time to have a large gloved hand shove a wet cloth under her nose. She elbowed him hard in the gut and the cloth and the man fell away, but they weren’t down for long. 78
The man grabbed her leg and Chiviss didn’t have the chance to reach out and hold her sword, it clattered from the mantel to the ground.79
Grabbing her by the waist the man dragged her away from the fireplace mantel. 80
She tried to get away from him, kicking her legs out, she managed to hit one of the bookshelves. 81
“Please, let Sinava hear it!” She begged to herself. For some reason, the chemical in the cloth was causing her vocal chords to tighten. She couldn’t speak or scream. 82
The man pulled harder at Chiviss, trying to drag her towards the front door where there were three other men. With their help, they soon had her bond, gagged and were carrying her into their large black van that was waiting for them in her driveway.83
”Sinava…” Tears came down her face as they carried her out, “Find me… please.” The world around began to spin, the sound of things being thrown around echoed in her ears like large drums and then, she was lost to the darkness. 84
Silence filled Sinava's ear as she waited for a reply and she soon became agitated that Chiviss wasn’t answering. A few moments later, she tried again. But, like before, there was nothing but silence. “That’s not right...” She said to herself. Putting everything else aside, she moved quickly out of the room and went up the stairs. Just as she was about to open the door she heard the intercom from the hall beeping. Looking skeptical at it, she went over and hit the reply button.85
“Chiviss, what do you need??? I was in the mid—“ The heavy breathing on the other end caused her to stop and she asked, “Chiviss, are you ok? You don’t sound so good.”86
The reply she received wasn’t good. “Chiviss is... unavailable, Sinava.” 87
A deep, unfamiliar voice came from the intercom. Shaking, Sinava wiped her forehead; she knew that no one was allowed in the house. It was completely off limits to anyone, friends, family and definitely strangers. She suddenly felt nauseous, the pit in her stomach getting larger as she listened to the continuing voice, “Your friend is being taken with us and the only way you can save her is if you give us the key to Loch Tam. If you do not comply, you will never see your friend…” 88
Something cracked and Sinava jerked her head up to the door that lead into the living room. Coming out of the involuntary trance she stomped up the stairs and threw open the door. 89
”Chiviss?” 90
Stepping into the family room she had to put a hand over her mouth to stop herself from screaming. Everything. Every item that could be seen with her eyes was touched, destroyed, or moved. 91
Sinava sat down on the couch and pressed the palms of her hands against her forehead. She was at a loss as to what to do. Should she look for Chiviss? Who had taken her? And what was that man talking about, the key to Loch Tam?92
She was so confused and felt even more alone than the day Kenon had left her.93
Suddenly, her training came back to her, “Observe your surroundings, find the out-of-place. These will solve your questions or add pieces to the puzzle.” 94
Instantly her brown eyes snapped open and she sat silently taking in everything in the room. 95
There had been an obvious struggle between Chiviss and her kidnappers. The bookcase was thrown over; the couch pillows had been tossed. The people who had taken Chiviss must have been looking for something.96
“Well, that’s obvious, isn’t it, smart ass?” She said bitterly to herself.97
So, why didn’t she hear any of the struggles?98
The stairs to the lower level were a few feet away from the sitting room. 99
Sinava stood up and walked over to the basement door. It was the only thing that had kept Chiviss and her captors away from Sinava. Something or someone had to be there to stop the noise from getting down to her.100
A few minutes went by as she stood there, her eyes scaled the entire door and frame but everything looked normal. 101
”Ok, what is it and where is it?” She murmured to herself. Taking her left hand, she laid it against the door, running it along the entire wooden surface. She almost let out a cry of joy as her hand found a small bump on the wood. Kneeling down she began to squint, trying to find the item. There it was, a small, thin, metallic looking device that clung to the door. Using her nails, Sinava scraped the mechanism off into her hand and peered at it curiously. 102
”Tellomein?” The word was engraved in cursive on the side of the device, but the meaning of it was lost on the girl. 103
”Ok, this… thing, must of somehow caused a sheet to cover the door and suppress any noise Chiviss could have made to catch my attention. That explains why I didn’t hear anything...” Even as absurd as it sounded, it was the only way she couldn’t have heard anything, so she kept with the assumption. She slipped the pen-like piece of metal into her back pocket and walked around the room to hopefully find something else that would lead her to Chiviss and whoever had her friend.104
Mornel strode quickly down the golden hall. He smiled to himself as he made his way to the council room. 105
Finally, they had caught one of the cunning and deceptive creatures, an Ellowen, and a young one at that. Not merely more than a few hundred years old. 106
”Fresh meat.” He chuckled to himself. His captain was holding the young woman in the council room for interrogation. Mornel would get what he wanted. He wouldn’t fail this time.107
Obscene pictures lined the artistically designed walls of the building as the Tellomien turned a left and came upon a closed door. Two armored men stood guard at the door and stepped aside to let Mornel in, nodding an acknowledgement to his presence. 108
The door shut behind Mornel with a loud thump and his eyes immediately fell upon the small being in the chair, directly in front of him. Surprise came to his green eyes and he was slightly amused to see that he had captured the daughter of Fetliss and great granddaughter of Alessander, Chiviss.109
”Well, my dear. How are things? I hope my men have been treating you well?” He pulled out one of the chairs and settled himself into it slowly. The black robes he wore made no noise as he moved and they settled against him. On his left hip was a very visible and very real automatic firearm. 110
The small, dark haired woman gave him no reply and he just sat there, a small smirk etched upon his handsome face. He motioned towards the other men in the room with his hand and they let go of the chains that held Chiviss. She gave an obvious sigh of relief and sagged a considerable amount in her seat. 111
The door swung open again and this time a tall, dark cloaked man entered. Making no sound he waved his hand to all the guards and they quickly filed out of the room. Mornel stood up and put a hand on the stranger’s shoulder, the man’s face was blank, but imposing. He had long, curly black hair that fell to his shoulders and a sharp look in his dark eyes. His eyes were so dark and so hard that, to Chiviss, they gave the impression to be made of steel. 112
”Meet Lonndiel. Our main and most trusted examiner.” Mornel’s eyes flashed at the bound Ellowen maiden as he continued, “He will make you tell us everything we need to hear. Enjoy your time with him, it a great honor to be interrogated by a mind divulger.” Mornel nodded to Lonndiel and with a small smile to Chiviss, left the two alone in the room.113
The large grandfather clock in the kitchen chimed 4 times. Sinava sat at her kitchen table, in front of her were several items she had found from scavenging her family room.114
A small notepad lay next to her and with pen in hand Sinava was carefully detailing every item. Just in case. 115
Another one of her lessons, Evidence is crucial and never replaceable. Always make a copy. In your mind and elsewhere.116
A cell phone, “It was either left by Chiviss or one of her kidnappers,” Thinking to herself to she decided it must’ve been left on purpose. There was no reason for such criminals to be taken lightly and she doubted they would’ve done something as trivial as leaving a valuable cell phone behind.117
Inside were three numbers. She hadn’t called any of them, but had looked them up online. They were all unlisted. She had memorized them and also added them to her cell phone, just for good measures.118
Also on the table were three long blonde hairs. Both Chiviss and Sinava were brunettes and neither of them had ever had anyone with blonde hair over to their house, in reality; they had never had anyone in their house. Her thoughts wandered for a moment as she realized that they had never had any visitors, all of her friends had never been allowed in her house. 119
Shrugging these thoughts away, she moved the cell phone over to her left and picked up very carefully the three blonde hairs, they were long, probably around 6 inches in length and they were incredibly blonde, almost platinum. She was no scientist but she knew she could find out somehow whom the hair belonged to. 120
Sinava went over to a cabinet and pulled out a small sandwich bag. 121
”This will have to do.” She muttered and placed the three hairs into the bag. 122
The last piece was the small pen-like device that Sinava had concluded it made it impossible for her to hear the struggle between Chiviss and her captors. She couldn’t identify anything and had even tried googling for the word, “Tellomien,” online. 123
Nothing had come from it. 124
Her long fingers traced over the engraved words, for some reason, she felt an odd connection with them. Shaking her head, she stuck the device in another plastic bag and sighed, “So many questions and yet no one here to answer them for me.” 125
”No one here? Of course there’s no one here.”126
Sinava jumped up bumping the table in her haste, a voice had echoed around her, “Who are you?” Her voice was shaking and she forced herself to calm down. It was only a voice, she thought to herself, and a familiar one at that.127
”Your forgetfulness insults me, Sinava. And in this case, ignorance cannot be blissful for there are tears in your eyes.” 128
A tall, shadowy figure stepped in front of her and Sinava was delighted to see it was her supposedly imaginary friend. 129
“Alessander!” She got up and walked towards him but he held his hands out in front of her. 130
“Sit back down, Sinava, we have much to talk about.”131
Sinava sat down slowly in the chair, “What do you mean, Alessander?” Her brown eyes filled with doubt once again and the old spirit sighed at the thought of how painful this was going to be.132
”Promise me, Sinava. Promise me you will not give anyone that key.” 133
”What key, Alessander?” Growing irritated at the constant mention of a key she was supposed to possess caused her to sarcastically gesture towards the spirit, “I have no key.”134
Alessandar’s shadow leaned down towards Sinava’s face; she could almost feel his scratchy beard. 135
His bright eyes dulled as he continued, “The key is in Chiviss.” 136
”But... they have Chiviss... and what’s she the key to?” The look on Sinava’s face was utter confusion.137
Alessandar reached out and tried to push Sinava’s hair up, “We have time. I will explain.”138
Everything around them seemed to melt until nothing existed. “Where are we?” Sinava asked curiously as she peered around them. She was sitting on chair that had somehow appeared out of nowhere and was surprised to see Alessander sitting in a chair as well. 139
“You’re… You’re…” She couldn’t come to say what was so obvious.140
“Human?” Alessander chuckled. “Not quite, but I am matter.” He reached out and prodded her shoulder with a very real finger. 141
“I-I don’t understand, Alessander. What is going on? Where are we?” 142
He took a deep breath and held his arms out in an introductory gesture, “This is a pathway to the Spirit World.”143
“I have brought you hear because there is no time. Time is only what you make it to be and when in a pathway you cannot make time.” His soft eyes met hers and he smiled carefully at her. “So, we shall talk about Chiviss. And yourself.” 144
Sinava ran a hand through her hair; it had come out of its ponytail and hung loosely around her face, she brought her gaze up to Alessander and the Spirit had to stop himself from gasping. Her eyes, the shape of her face, her very expression was the exact same as that one, the one. “It cannot be…” He whispered inaudibly. A terrifying image ran through his mind and he thought desperately at what had come to be.145
“Why did they take Chiviss, Alessander?” Her voice was cracked and she was forcing herself not to cry. “Who are these people and what is the Locked.. Tam?”146
“Loch Tam.” He corrected her gently as he shrugged away the dark feelings that had rose within him. 147
“It is the kingdom of the Twelve Kingdoms.” 148
The confused look on her face encouraged him to add, “But you don’t know about that, do you?”149
“Does it look like I know something?” She waved her arms around. “From what you’re showing me I’ve been kept in a box all my life. I have no idea what kingdoms you’re talking about and I just want Chiviss to come back.” 150
She knew she sounded pathetic but she couldn’t help it. Her best friend in the entire world had been taken from her and she was supposed to give the captors something she didn’t even knew existed. Part of her wanted to blame Alessander for not telling her that Chiviss could be in danger, another part of her wanted to go out and get Chiviss back and another part just wished that she could lie down and cry.151
“I will start from the beginning and explain this all to you as well as I can, Sinava. But, bear with me for my soul is old and my mind wanders…” 152
She sat quietly and folded her hands over her lap.153
“The Supremacy has always existed. Longer than anyone has know knowledge of has He been around. He created the worlds and the kingdoms.” He stopped as he noticed Sinava opened her mouth to speak.154
“Yes, child?” He asked.155
“What do you mean, worlds, Alessander? There is only one world, Earth.” She stared at him.156
He shook his head slowly and his long white beard moved back and forth in an amusing fashion.157
“There is more than one world, Sinava, there are thousands of worlds that have been visited and are inhabited. Earth is the only world that I know of that refuses to let itself associate with the others.” He leaned back into his chair, “But I am getting off topic, the Supremacy created hundreds of thousands of worlds and 12 specific Kingdoms. At the beginning of creation, these Kingdoms were set on 12 worlds. I won’t name them because that’s not important, but the 12th kingdom, the youngest, was placed here on earth.” He took a deep breath and then continued, “When the worlds and the Kingdoms were finished, the Supremacy decided that he wanted to share his works of art with someone, so he created beings. The first beings he created were called Trinidans.” Pausing for a moment, he stared at her in the eyes and then said, “I am a Trinidan, Sinava.” 158
“What is a Trinidan, Alessander?” asked Sinava, she was still wary at what he was saying, but ever since she had known him she had a feeling that he was more than what he made out to be and he had given her no reason to distrust him.159
“Do you know what an angel is, Sinava?” He said.160
She nodded in reply, “Of course I do…” She smiled sheepishly and admitted, “When I was little, I used to think that Chiviss was my guardian angel.” 161
Alessander gave a small chuckle, “In a way, she is, but Trinidans were the first beings ever created and they love the Supremacy. In a way, we are your, “angels.” When they were created, they were placed in the 12 kingdoms. There they could live for the Supremacy.” 162
Here, he stopped talking for a moment and seemed to remember something that was very painful, for on his face there was etched such a sorrowful look that it made Sinava reach out for his hand. Everything had been so strange that, it did not startle her when her human hand came in physical contact with his spiritual one.163
Alessander smiled up at her and returned the gesture by patting her hand with his other. 164
“I am sorry, Sinava, what happens next in this tale is a memory that I am reminded of everyday. It is a terrible one, but it is something that cannot be erased.”165
Nodding, she folded her young smooth hand around his wrinkled old one. 166
The contrast between the two beings was so beautiful that anyone who would have stumbled upon them would have been in captivated in awe.167
“What happened, Alessander?” 168
Her soothing tone caused him to stir from his thoughts and he said, “One of our fellow Trinidans, Lucifer, refused the Supremacy.” 169
Not understanding how terrible of a deed this was, Sinava merely shook her head in disgust. 170
“He was overwhelmed by the worldly goods, my child, he became brittle and at one point, almost mortal. He wanted to rule his own kingdom.”171
”What kingdom was he put in?” Sinava asked.172
“He was placed in the 12th kingdom, the youngest and the most fruitful.” 173
A trickle of understanding began to bloom in Sinava’s mind and she leaned forward.174
“In refusing the Supremacy and falling into greed and hate, the Supremacy banished Lucifer from what he loved most, Earth. Lucifer was sent into the endless realms of darkness. Unfortunately, he took the group of Trinidans that had been placed with him on earth down to the darkness as well. He tricked them and told them they were more powerful than the Supremacy because they were spirit but could live on worlds. Because of him, large portions of the Trinidans no longer live in happiness. We now call them, Tellomeins.” 175
Sinava almost stood straight up, “Tellomein? That’s the name that was on the little device I found in our house. Are you telling me that the Tellomeins, these lost angels, are wandering around still on earth?” 176
Wiping unseen perspiration from his brow, Alessander said, “Please Sinava, let me finish, you will understand everything once I am done. Be patient.” He waited until she was settled to continue his story.177
“After the Supremacy saw that the Trinidans could fall into the darkness, he banished them to a place called, The Spirit realm, it is not like the Darkness, but it is most certainly not like the Kingdoms and the Trinidans were not as happy as they had been. But, they remained faithful to the Supremacy for a long time. Until, something most disturbing happened between a Trinidan and a Tellomein.”178
Sinava crossed her legs and laid both her hands upon her lap, she was very interested in Alessandar’s story and was now completely caught up in it. She was so captivated by the old spirit’s voice that she did not realize her house was beginning to form around her. Soon, she and Alessander were back in the kitchen. 179
“What happened next was so disgraceful that the Supremacy was insulted and upset to the point where we Trinidans feared a destruction of the worlds.” Alessander was silent for a moment, composing his thoughts. “A Trinidan and a Tellomein came together.” He said no more, Sinava was old enough to understand his meaning and the only reaction she gave was the rising of eyebrows and a withering gaze. 180
“I did not realize that was possible. I never thought that Angels, these spirits, could do such a thing. That is not what we’re taught.” 181
“I know, Sinava, and they were correct in teaching you that. It is a complicated matter, but the Tellomein that committed the atrocity was none other than Lucifer himself and as I said, he was so attached to earthly goods he had almost become mortal. He had almost succumbed to being a possession himself. Something that could die, and so, when the action was committed, the Supremacy swore he would ban the child that came from the Trinidan.” 182
“But, the Supremacy is not evil, he is just. Yes, Sinava I see the way you look. You think that it would be wrong for the Supremacy to punish the Trinidan? But, remember, every action has its consequence whether that consequence is good or bad it will always be. Well, the Trinidan and Lucifer deserved their punishment, but not all bad came from the Supremacy’s decision. Since the Supremacy was fair and loving he decided not to destroy this Trinidan’s beloved infant, but instead he would place him on earth and have him live there. And, because of the crime committed, the child and any of it’s offspring would never be able to live in the Spirit realm and would have to live its life with the pain and death and sickness that comes with living on a world.183
At this, Alessander cleared his throat and stroked his long beard, he eyed Sinava thoughtfully and then continued saying, “Well, eventually, over the centuries more crimes were committed against the Supremacy and soon there were hundreds of Ellowens dwelling in the Kingdoms.” He cleared his throat, “The Ellowens were the offspring of the Trinidans and the Tellomeins. They practiced magic, dark arts, the art of healing and they were seers, peace reigned at one point for hundreds of years, but it was not kept settled. Many times did Lucifer try to regain access to the Kingdoms, but every time he did so the Ellowens fought him down with the power from the Supremacy.”184
“So, the Ellowens were devoted to the Supremacy as well as the Trinidans?” asked Sinava.185
Alessander shook his head, “Not all, there were some that loved the darkness. They lived for the darkness only and Lucifer is their king.” 186
“How come the Supremacy didn’t just destroy the bad Tellomeins and the bad Ellowens?” asked Sinava.187
“Well, because, when the Supremacy created the Trinidans, he gave the ability to choose. Your people on earth call it, “free will.””188
Nodding, Sinava looked around slowly, “OK, I am with you so far, Alessander… but really, what does this have to do with ME SAVING CHIVISS??” She stood up and leaned over onto his chair, her hands on his arm rests. 189
Alessander frowned, “Child, patience truly is its own virtue and surprisingly, one you haven’t been practicing. Sit down. If you want, I’ll give it to you simply.” 190
He gave a little push at Sinava’s arms and she sat down grudgingly. “Alright. Give it to me straight, Alessander. There’s no more time for story telling.” She pointed to the fireplace, “We’re back in the real world…in case you didn’t notice.”191
“But time has still been stopped.” He pointed to the clock. “So, be patient.” He waited a moment more before continuing, “At one point, Lucifer became very powerful. His demons, devils, Ellowens and even lost humans were destroying the worlds. The Supremacy saw that something must be done immediately to stop the fall of his kingdoms.”192
“What did he do?”193
“He sent someone. He sent… a savior.”194
”Who was it, Alessander?” She asked him.195
”They called the being... a Silvedren.”196
When Alessander said that particular word, something in the air around them changed and a strange feeling came over Sinava. 197
She sat up straighter, a gleam appeared in her eyes and her face was opened and shone as if it were a ray from the sun.198
”Yes, A Silvedren. We called him the warrior of light. He was a mirrored image of the Supremacy, some say that he was the Supremacy, but it was too long ago and the records have been lost. He came down from the Heavens and a great war raged between the good and the bad. The only problem with the Silvedren was that he was human. He could be tempted with sin and at one point he almost destroyed earth.” 199
”Wait a minute.” Sinava looked up, “these... Silvedrens... they’re powerful enough to destroy the worlds?”200
”Oh yes, Sinava. How else could they stop the Tellomeins? The Silvedren are gifted mortals, humans, if you like. They have to specially watched over and guarded and at the right time, trained to peek perfection.”201
For no reason, these words caused irritation to Sinava mind and suddenly, an image of her life passed her eyes, all the training, the entire running and all the hiding, Chiviss watching over her from before she could remember. Pushing herself to go farther, working her body, her mind... her soul. A look of dawning came upon her face and she turned to Alessander. 202
A small smile peered out from his long white beard.203
”Every generation bears a Silvedren, Sinava. Then, a special Ellowen is chosen to guard them... him... her...” 204
Sinava’s heart skipped a beat, “You can’t be serious, Alessander.” 205
Soft white clouds began to form around Alessander and Sinava sat up from the chair to move over towards him.206
“I mean, this is impossible, I am just a…. just a...” She couldn’t say the words.207
”Just a normal, human, being.” Alessander finished the sentence for her. He was now his old spirit self. And hovered just above the table, at eyes view to Sinava. 208
”We should have told you sooner, Sinava. But you loved your world so much... we couldn’t bear the thought of you having to carry so much weight.” 209
He reached an opaque hand out towards her and she felt the coolness sweep across her cheek. 210
”We love you, Sinava. We didn’t want you hurt. We—“211
”Wait a minute.” She stood up, “What do you mean, we?” She stared at him in bewilderment.212
Chiviss’ mouth was dry and her eyes burned from the heat. She was strapped down tight to a metal chair, thick bands held her arms, legs, and head down.213
A large light was in the room and the room was warming, quickly.214
Sweat dripped off of her brow and she no longer struggled. She was almost too weak too.215
Ellowens normally cannot stand large amounts of heat for a long period and she knew that the Tellomien was trying in vain to force information from her. 216
They did not know, on the other hand, Chiviss was a direct descendant from a Trinidan, she was pure blood and since Trinidans were angelic creatures, they were exempt to any element of the earth. Unfortunately, because she was only half-Trinidan, she still was overwhelmed by the sickening strength of the light. But she did not die.217
Mornel watched quietly from behind the tinted glass. “Why won’t she speak?” He asked Lonndiel. The tall man turned to the Tellomien; “She seems to have a spell cast upon her that will not allow her to reveal any kind of source to the Loch Tam key.” Lonndiel shrugged, “It’s either that or she is very strong willed.” 218
Mornel nodded and looked back at the struggling woman. She had started screaming from her flesh being scalded on the metal chair. A few more moments past and Mornel began to walk out of the room. “Bring her to me.”219
”She knew?” Sinava couldn’t believe what she was hearing, “This ENTIRE time, Chiviss knew about ALL OF THIS?”220
“Sinava, calm down.” Alessander said.221
Sinava sat down hard in her chair. She stared into space as she recollected her thoughts.222
“This… can’t be happening to me.” She muttered. “This isn’t happening at all.” She looked over at Alessander who was still in the house with her. “And Chiviss. She is in danger because of me?” 223
She was beginning to get agitated and gripped the front of the table hard. Her fingertips went into the wood and pieces of splinter cracked under the weight. 224
She stared down, horrified at what she had done. 225
“You’ve reached the age, Sinava.” He moved farther away from her. “Everything happens for a reason.”226
“Don’t you dare leave me, Alessander? I don’t know what to do!” She begged him with her eyes. Her hands still stuck onto the table that she had just effectively ruined. 227
“I must, my child. You know what you need to know. The rest you must do on your own.”228
“No, please. Alessander.” 229
“Find Fedynns, Sinava. Your help and your hope will be there…”230
“Alessander.”231
But, it was hopeless. The Trinidan was gone and Sinava was left alone… 232
She sighed and looked down at her fingers. They were cut, splintered and bleeding.233
“What am I going to do now?” She leaned her head onto the table and began to sob… for… she was only human.234
Chapter Two: Uniting235
A cold mist swirled around the island as Orin trotted p the grassy hill. Wiping his forehead free of perspiration the young man steadied himself with his walking stick and stood still for a moment to compose himself.236
”What am I doing?” He thought out loud. His voice echoed around him. It was still early and the only ones awake with Orin were the birds that were out for their early morning snack.237
He thought back to the night before. The night before, an argument had spurred the farm hand to make a decision, a decision that in time would have such an effect upon him that he wouldn’t even be able to comprehend it until much later. 238
Sighing, he pulled on his backpack and finished his walk to the top of the hill. Down below was the quiet village that he had come from, Feddyns, they called it. A world of water, mists and old people who lived on farms.239
He had lived there with an old couple who had taken him in when they found him, a little boy, lost and without a family, wandering alone...240
Jeamus was going to leave Feddyns. He had lived there all of his life and had only found pain. Even though the old man and his wife had graciously taken him into their home, they still took advantage of his young age and physique. 241
Angrily, he pushed his sandy hair out of his eyes and threw his stick to the side as the large gray rock formation of the window came into his view. 242
It was the only window he knew of in these parts and it was a small one at that. The flat rocks lay in perfect shape making a small, but handy window into another world. Hopefully, one that would treat him better, he thought to himself.243
“Maybe I shouldn’t do this?” He asked himself hesitatingly. He turned around and looked down the grassy, rocky hill.244
One more wistful glance back at the old, rotting farmhouse was more than enough motivation to get Jeamus through that window. 245
With a deep breath, Jeamus put his right arm out in front of him and strode through the window into the world of Earth.246
Sinava stood up from the kitchen table. She couldn’t look at it anymore. Her eyes were swollen and she hiccupped as she walked upstairs.247
She had to go prepare, it was the only thing left for her to do.248
Walking with crooked steps, Sinava gripped the handrail, and then stopped. The metal had begun to sink in under her grip. “What is this?” She murmured to herself. Then, this time, more carefully, she grabbed the handrail and walked up slowly to her room.249
Up in her bedroom, Sinava pulled a small tote bag from behind her door and set it on the bed, her pant legs rustled as she moved quickly. She was still light headed after her long cry, but now her instincts were kicking in.250
She moved around quickly, grabbing items she need, shoving them into the bag and then recalculating in her head what she would need, again. 251
Slipping out of her tank top and pants, Sinava walked over to her armoire and opened it. In the back of the armoire was a trap door and inside of that space she kept her most valued possession.252
A present from Chiviss, it was a special outfit. Now, it all made sense why Chiviss wouldn’t let her use it. It was made specifically to accommodate to her newfound strength and will adjust to her power, once she found it.253
It was made with material and thread that was not of this earth. So strong, it was, that it could never tear or rip.254
The smooth black material went on quickly and quietly to Sinava’s body and she stopped to look at herself in the mirror. The outfit consisted of two pieces, three if you count the hooded cloak. It was all black. The first piece went completely over her body, like a jumpsuit, but it had opening in the material for oxygen to be stored in. The openings were so tiny it was impossible to see, but because of these the outfit was almost fire proof. A tight fit on her body and elastic fit made it easy for Sinava to move and bend. That way she could perform all over her martial arts moves without being held back by tough material.255
The second layer was a transparent piece that was looser than the first; Sinava didn’t know what this piece was for, only that it was vital. 256
The cloak was Sinava’s greatest treasure for it was large yet light and it had the capacity to store any weapon and keep her dry if it rained. The waterproof, fireproof cloak was an asset to her collection of items received by Alessandar and Chiviss.257
Staring into the mirror, past memories began to come back to Sinava...258
It had been almost three years she had gotten fitted for this outfit. She could remember the day vividly, as if it were yesterday. Two small tears welled up in her eyes as she thought about Chiviss’ remarks, Kenon’s playful bantering and her own joy at receiving the gift259
”Why must life change so dramatically?” She asked herself wistfully. Her dark brown eyes were sorrowful and finally after one quick glance to make sure she had it on properly, the girl picked up her tote bag and went downstairs.260
Lonndiel sat slouched in his chair. Across from him in another chair sat Chiviss. The girl was almost out of consciousness and she was slumping terribly onto the table.261
”I don’t understand.” He leaned forward to study the girl, “I don’t understand why you can’t tell me where the key is.” 262
Chiviss lifted her head slowly, everything around her was spinning from the drug they had inserted into her arm a while. “I can’t tell you what I don’t know.” Her voice was slow and slurred. An effect from the drugs he had given her.263
Lonndiel just stared, this somehow fascinated him, and what had Mornel called her? An Ellowen. 264
Which was natural, for a human, at least. And Lonndiel was just that. A human. Mornel had found him at the age of 12 and Mornel had taught him to use his gift... his power. Lonndiel, as a child, had been scorned and laughed at; he had been ignored and hated. All because of his special gift. But, Mornel, he had saved him. He gave him a purpose and that purpose was to use his gift. So, why wasn’t he agitated? His gift wasn’t working on this girl but Lonndiel wasn’t upset. In some ways, he felt sorry for her, another person with a gift that was being tortured and hated. But, what was her gift? Why was she so important to Mornel?265
With a sigh, Lonndiel sat back in his chair and continued to watch the girl. She didn’t look much older than he was. She was a pretty thing with long curly brown hair and matching blue eyes. Soft eyes, tired eyes. They stared back at him with sorrow. Such pretty eyes, he thought to himself.266
Jaemus rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand and looked around. The fog had finally cleared and he was standing in, what looked like, a garden. At least, what was left of a garden.267
Some sort of animals, birds and rabbits had pretty much eaten all that had been grown. 268
He clicked his tongue in pity, was a waste to let the birds and animals get at it all. Suddenly, he realized he wasn’t only in a garden, he was in a front yard and that front yard, as they usually do, came with a house.269
He stood there for a moment, debating whether or not to knock on the door and ask for assistance, when someone from the inside decided to come out. 270
Sinava stuck the last piece of bread into her rucksack; it was the last piece in the house and would be a suitable dinner for tonight. Throwing the bag around her back, she went over to the front door, opened it and almost tripped flat on her face when she saw a boy standing in her front yard. Scrambling, she whipped the door shut and locked it behind her. 271
”Erm, uh...” she struggled for words and made her way towards the boy. No, not a boy, she noted, but a young man, perhaps no older than she was. 272
He was taller than she was, and he was tan, but slightly on the scrawny side. Someone who worked hard but most likely didn’t eat enough. 273
He had sandy brown hair and bright blue eyes, very clear eyes, she noted with a shock. They were so bright that it caused Sinava an urge to avert her gaze. But, she held it forcefully and stood staring at him.274
”Um, what are you doing on my front lawn?” She finally asked.275
Jaemus couldn’t answer; in fact he was stark scared. Something about this girl had stopped him in his tracks and he definitely was uncomfortable. What’s the matter with me?? He thought desperately.276
Having a solid reputation with the majority of females in Fedynns, Jaemus was humiliated and astonished that he was caught tongue-tied.277
It was so simple for him to get his way, so... why was it suddenly different?278
”Well, are you going to say anything?” Sinava slipped her other arm through her backpack and stared expectantly at him. 279
She was very pretty, tall and skinny, but noticeably feminine. She had soft brown eyes and short brown hair.280
Sinava gazed back coolly at the boy, if he was going to be silent then there was no reason for her to say anything. She sniffed a bit and then walked down the steps of the front porch towards him.281
Jaemus stumbled backwards as Sinava came up to him.282
”Are you alright?” 283
He blushed and reached for the hand she was holding out for him.284
Jaemus struggled to get to his feet and found that he was ready to collapse on the ground right then and there and sleep away the rest of his life.285
He looked again at the girl and cleared his throat. “I am... I am sorry I trampled in your garden. I wasn’t trying to do anything.” 286
Sinava’s cold attitude seemed to melt and she suddenly felt guilty for not offering help to this traveler. She looked back at her house and then down at the watch on her hand. “I don’t have time for this,” She muttered. Rolling her eyes she turned back to the boy and stuck her hand out once more. He took it carefully, eyeing her as he did so. 287
”I am Sinava, I live here. If you’re hungry...” She eyed him and he knew that it was obvious he hadn’t had a good meal in days. “You can come inside and I’ll fix you something.”288
He barely heard the last part of her sentence; he was too busy looking at her. She’s so pretty. He thought to herself. Why is she living here alone?289
Lonndiel stood up as Mornel walked into the room, he nodded to his old friend and then with one last glance at Chiviss, he left the room to do his own investigating. 290
Walking down the halls of the building, he thought to himself about Chiviss. His eyebrows were burrowed with thought as he pushed the door to the stairs open and walked down them. Why does Mornel find this girl so important? He had always wondered why his boss found pleasure in torturing his clients when they didn’t pay their debts. But, it wasn’t his place to ask questions. Just to do the work.291
Cars whizzed by as Lonndiel stepped out of the skyscraper high building. It was a normal busy day for the average American and he smiled and glanced down at the paper. 292
He had one last mission to fulfill, one that proved too difficult for the other associates of the company. One that he would not fail.293
The pen scratched onto the paper spelled out the name of the girl he was supposed to capture. 294
With the familiar swoop of Mornel’s handwriting, Lonndiel smiled and thought of how unexpected Sinava Charllesse would be when he showed up at her door step. 295
”What am I going to do?” Sinava moaned to herself. She now was housing a run away, gangly, orphan boy and was losing more time than ever. She was upstairs in her room, laying on her bed with a pillow in her face. 296
More distraught than ever, she rolled over and lay there, thinking how she was going to get into Feydnns.297
Meanwhile, Jaemus was on the first floor in the guest room and he enjoying himself more than he ever had in all of his eighteen years of living. It was the largest and most spacious room he had ever seen. It had an enormous king size bed, two matching dressers, a bathroom and more pillows and blankets than he ever thought could be made. 298
He walked over and stared at the bed. He really wanted to lay down in it and just sleep, but something was bothering him and he didn’t. Instead, he walked over, opened his bedroom door and went over to the stairs. They lead up into darkness and he wasn’t even sure if that was where Sinava was, but the only way to find out was to look.299
Something that Jaemus had notice while he was talking to Sinava was that she would absent mindedly begin stroking the pendant she wore around her neck. 300
”It might belong to her... boyfriend...” He told himself resentfully. “But, why would that matter?” He stopped at the top of the stairs. There was a very short hallway and two bedroom doors. One of the left and one on the right. Which one was her room?301
Sinava sat up suddenly, someone had walked up the stairs. She stood up hastily, “It’s probably just Jaemus.” She told herself. Moving swiftly, she went to open the door but hesitated. She didn’t hear anything on the other side of the door and instead of opening it, she leaned against it and put her ear against the wood.302
Jaemus didn’t hear anything, maybe she was asleep... but it wasn’t that late. “What am I doing?” He moaned to himself. “I’ll tell you what you’re doing Jaemus.” He picked the right door and walked softly over to it. “You’re intruding on a girl’s property all because of some intuition you have of her.” Leaning carefully, he laid his ear against the door to hear if she was inside. He didn’t hear anything. “And of course...” He said, this time mumbling out loud. “You were wrong... as usual.” He stood up straight and turned around to walk down the stairs when the door to the left suddenly opened in front of him.303
Sinava stood still, her silouhette framing the oversized doorway to her room. Jaemus was caught once again in awe from her beauty. 304
”Did you need something?” She asked him.305
He shook his head slightly and was about to go back down the stairs. She watched him quietly, not mentioning the strangeness of him being upstairs, inches from her private bedroom. 306
”Actually, I do need something.” He turned back around to face her. She came eagerly forward and he felt something shiver in the air between them. Her face lite up and he stepped closer to her. 307
Then, it was gone, and they were just two strangers in a big empty house.308
”What was it you needed?” Sinava asked again, this time looking away as she spoke to him.309
His face burned as he said, “I felt that something was... um... wrong... when we were talking and I wanted to know if everything is ok?”310
Author notes
I went through and edited a lot last night. Will add more.
