My dear Odysseus1
Left me today. 2
And there was nothing I could do3
To make him stay. 4
I offered him a home and immortality.5
He did not want that though,6
All he wanted was his dear Penelope. 7
He has not been home since the Trojan War, 8
And his one wish was to go back home9
To Ithaca, the island that he adores. 10
As much as I want him to stay here, 11
I always knew that this wouldn’t last forever12
And someday he’d disappear13
Out of my life14
And back into the arms of his wife.15
I sent him away with a raft and food,16
While I smiled and waved at him as he parted, 17
Not wanting to be rude. 18
But behind that smile that I held on my face, 19
Were thoughts of loneliness, 20
And how I yearn for his embrace. 21
I knew that when he was with me,22
All he thought about was his dear Penelope.23
Odysseus and I were never meant to be,24
And his heart never truly belonged with me. 25
So this is my final farewell to him,26
Bidding him a safe trip and praying to the gods that he will be well.27
But no one ever knows, 28
Only time will tell.29
Author notes
I'm supposed to turn this in for an English project, is it any good?

This was really good. I liked it. It was enjoyable to read. I had to do a poem on Beowulf for one of my English classes and I didn't think it was good but I got an A. So you never know. Thanks for entering and good luck to you in the contest.
