"The fire embraced him like a long lost lover as he strode towards the mausoleum. For ten long years his father had made his life a living hell, or tried his hardest anyway. The gargoyles perched a top twin crosses first screamed out a defiant battle-cry, but it didn't take long for dust to envelop the midnight air. "Really like taking candy from a baby," he thought out loud, amused that he could be in the throes of a godlike rage and still use such a cliche line. "Oh well," he whispered to the sentinels within the doors, "After I'm through with him, I can take all the time I need to perfect my art." With the tiniest twitch of his hand, the doors were catapulted inward and, at the same time, turned to dust like a speared vampire. A smile on his lips and a heart in his hand, Luci padded up to the sarcophagi within and said in the Old Tongue, "Hello my love, it's time for you to wake up. Daddy's been naughty while you've slept." Then to the one suspended in the air he began the Ballad Of The Volcano's Heart. 1

I've begun writing this story without the foggiest idea of what it's about, who the characters are, or anything for that matter. Oh well, waste not want not. Enjoy

Whoa! Okay...I'm hooked!! I usually don't do stories, but this had me captivated from line 1! Your descriptions are rich, and pull the reader even firther into your story. The imagery is vivid, and stunning. Love the storyline so far. LOVE your use of metaphor here, as well. Your ever increasing talent for using them grows with every write! Keep going, Gallant Sir...
