Bobo jerked his head up all of a suddenly. It was still dark outside. His twin sister, Missy, was still asleep beside him. He stood up, stretched, and walked out through the cat door. The orange glow behind the trees was a sign that it was almost morning. He stretched again, then yawned. It felt alot cooler than it had been all fall, which ment winter was almost there. Bobo walked through the alley.
"What are you doing here?!"
He spun around at the sound of the big alley cat's voice, the big black tom walked over to him.
"I'm sorry, Shadow." Bobo meowed.
A little gray and white kitten ran over to stand beside Shadow. "Daddy, he's my friend. He has a right to come over here." She meowed.
"Very well." Shadow hissed, walking away.
"Bobo, you look troubled." Allie started. "Is something wrong?" She followed him out of the alley.
He glanced at her. "It's just that...I don't know. I had a dream or something."
Allie looked at him sideways. "A dream?" She repeated.
"Yea, It had a white cat, and he was floating in mid air. I think he said his name was Ghosty. It seemed like he was talking to me."
"It was your dream, right? Of course, he was..."
Bobo cut her off. "Not like that, Al."
Allie thought a second. "You mean like it was real? And you were staring at him?"
"Yea, like that."
"Ok, Bo, now you're scaring me."
"Allie, watch out!" Bobo hissed, but it was too late, she ran head first into the creme colored cat.
"Brat!" The cat hissed.
"I'm not a brat! I'm Allie." Allie hissed.
The creme colored she cat snorted. "Well, call me Trixie. If you call me anything else, I'll claw your eyes out."
Bobo walked up to stand beside Allie. "And I'm Bobo. Sorry about my friend, she should really start watching where she's going."
Trixie snorted again, then walked off.
Bobo stared at Allie, then walked away. She hurried to catch up to him.
When they got back to the house, Missy and Fancy were waiting for them. "Guys, ready?" Missy asked.
"Ready when you are." Fancy said.
"Come on, guys." Bobo led them away from the house.
Fancy hurried to catch up to Bobo. "Something doesn't feel right." She whispered. "I think my instincts are warning us to watch out for any hidden dangers."
Missy and Allie hurried to catch up with them.
"What hidden dangers?" Allie asked, suddenly stopping.
Bobo stopped, then he turned around to face her. "We don't mean to scare you, Al. But Fancy's insticts are going crazy, and telling her to watch out for any hidden dangers." He looked around the area, night had closed in. "Guys, it's getting late. I say we rest here tonight and keep walking in the morning." He yawned, laying down.
Fancy layed down beside him, then fell fast asleep.
"Bobo! Over here!" Fancy called, the next day from inside the alley.
Bobo hurried over to where she was standing.
A white cat was floating in mid-air. "Greetings." He began.
"Its the white cat from my dream." Bobo meowed.
"Yes, Bobo. Where's Missy and Allie at?" The white cat asked.
"They're coming." Fancy answered. "Allie! Missy! Over here!"
They hurried over to Fancy.
"Whose that?" Allie asked.
"Since you are all four here, I'll tell you together. I'm Ghosty."
"Ghosty?" Allie repeated, looking over at Bobo, then back at him. "I don't understand."
"I'm just here to ask you to help me." Ghosty said. "I gave Shadow a magic lantern to take to the kingdom, but he never returned, so I fear something bad has happened to him."
"My daddy?" Allie asked, with panic in her voice.
"Yes, Al. Your daddy." Ghosty answered her.
"Wait a minute...a magic lantern?" Bobo asked.
"Yes, Bo. A magic lantern. Anyone who has the magic lantern will be the most powerful creature in the universe." Ghosty told them.
"That sounds like a storybook to me." Bobo said, walking off.
Ghosty looked at Allie, Fancy and Missy. "He'll come around."
"I want my daddy!" Allie cried.
"Don't worry, Al. We'll get him back." Fancy reassured her. "Come on, Missy. We have a mission to complete."
Allie looked back at Ghosty, then followed Fancy and Missy out of the alley.
"May the light guide your path!" Ghosty called to them.
Mean-while, Bobo was walking around thinking about what Ghosty had told them. "There's no such thing as a magic lantern." He kept repeating to himself. "It's all a fairy tale, it's just gotta be."
"Bobo!" Allie called, running over to where he was. "We have to find my daddy, he's missing."
Bobo glanced at her. "We will, Al. I promise."
"Please say you'll help me?"
"I don't believe in the magic lantern, but I will help you find Shadow." They both walked back into the alley.
"What changed your mind?" Fancy asked.
"Allie did, so do we have a plan yet?" Bobo asked, sitting down to scratch at a single flea.
"Not yet." MIssy answered, walking up to them.
"Hmmm...." Bobo thought a second. "Let's start at the kingdom." He suggested.
"Good idea." Everybody quickly agreed.
They started walking towards the kingdom, just as the evil fairy cats appeared.
"Surrender yourselves!" A fairy cat hissed. "Or pay the price."
"What's the price?" Fancy asked.
"The price is if you don't surrender yourselves, you will be forced to work for us." Another fairy cat hissed.
"We don't want to start any trouble. We're just looking for our friend." Bobo said. "And...the magic lantern."
"You're not getting your friend, or the lantern." The third fairy cat hissed.
Bobo looked around at all the fairy cats. "Ok, here's the plan. Fancy, you and Missy distract them, Allie, come with me." He whispered to them.
Fancy looked over at Missy. "Let's do it."
Allie looked at Bobo. "Now what?"
"Now we wait." Bobo answered in a whisper.
"Hey, fairy cats. Over here!" Ghosty hissed, appearing behind them.
All of the evil fair cats turned and looked at him.
"Get him!" A fairy cat hissed.
Three fairy cats floated towards him.
Bobo looked over at Allie. "Ready?"
"Ready." She meowed.
They both snuck off towards the kingdom.
"Looking for something?" Trixie asked, coming out of the darkness.
Bobo and Allie both spun around. "Yea, the lantern and Shadow." Bobo hissed.
Trixie snorted. "I didn't think you believed in the magic lantern." She hissed. "It's just a fairy tale to you."
Bobo let out a low growl.
Allie arched her back and fluffed up.
Trixie circled them. "I'm gonna be the most powerful creature in the universe!" She laughed, holding the lantern up. "Now, oh magic lantern, make me the most pow..."
Some kind of white light came out of the lantern and shocked her, then a bolt of lightning flashed.
Then lightning flashed again, Bobo walked slowly to the lantern, then pressed a button.
"Noooo!" Trixie screamed, as she was being sucked into the magic lantern.
Bobo and Allie watched in amazement as the lantern swallowed Trixie up in it.
Mean-while, Fancy, Missy and Ghosty were still distracting the evil fairy cats.
"I'm over here!" Fancy called to a fairy cat.
The fairy cat floated toward her, but before it got to her, all of the evil fairy cats disappeared into a puff of dust.
Fancy looked over at Missy, then at Ghosty. "What happened?"
"Bobo and Allie got the lantern away from Trixie and evil has been locked away." Ghosty answered.
Fancy and Missy ran into the kingdom.
"Bobo! You did it!" Missy purred.
Allie looked around then started purring loudly. "Daddy!" She ran happily over to him.
Shadow licked her between the ears.
"We better get this to the keeper where it will be safe." Bobo suggested, walking off to the keeper's house.
"You found it! You found it!" The keeper shouted running to greet them.
Bobo handed him the magic lantern. "No problem." He purred.
"Well done." Shadow purred. "But I have a feeling this isn't over yet." He growled, walking back towards the alley.2
