Have you ever gone to bed after a long and tire-some day at school, or work? You feel relaxed, maybe in a state of mind where you feel unreal, and no one, or nothing, is there in your room (or living room, if you still live at home and the bed is too small). Then, out of no where, you feel a cold shiver run down your neck to the base of your spine. A shiver that makes you fear even your own life. A shiver that makes you believe that something, or someone, is there when they're not. This is the type of shiver that will seem as if it were like cold lava, burning you with a fear that you are being watched. You awake, searching around in almost total darkness, only to find that your exhausted mind is playing tricks on you. After the chill fades away, you fall back asleep, thinking of that special person you can't live without. Suddenly, out of the blue, the chill rushes up your spine again, sending the same exact fear through you. Terrified, you search in the dark for the nearest light switch. Turning it on, you come to the conclusion that there is a murderer, or rapist nearby where you sleep. When the light turns on, you franticly check around you for the unknown source of fear that you oh-so-despise. Then, to your utter horror and disbelief, there is nothing there...
Author notes
I had had this same exact feeling one night after a New Year's party. I had been watching four kids with my sister, and quite frankly, I was so tired I could fall asleep and never wake up...So, in response to that night at around 3:00 AM, I wrote this. Hope you like it.

*shudder* I hate that! That's why I end up checking behind and under my bed every night, and my closet. A very disturbing feeling, you've described it well. Thanks for the entry!
