"Argh!" I screamed in frustration. Gaara peered over to me and looked questioning. "I can't open this! Please, Gaara?" I purred. He sighed and grabbed my water bottle. I watched him snap the cap off and hand it back. "Hehehe . . . thanks, Gaara."
"Hn," Was all he said. I looked down at my water. "Want one?" I asked. He shook his head and stayed focus on an apple. His sand popped it from the stem and flicked it to him. He caught it and offered it to me. 1
I took it gently and bit a small piece, he observed my closely, almost squinting his eyes. "It's good . . . ," I whispered. He caught another apple and tried it himself. "Hn," He agreed. My fingers punctured a few holes into the apple, juice leaked front he holes and dripped onto the tree branch I was sitting on. "Why are you doing that?" Gaara asked. I shrugged my shoulders and put a finger over one of the holes. I brought the juice covered finger to my lips and put it in my mouth. Gaara stared at his apple, only one bite taken out of it. "Do you eat much?" 2
"Not really . . ."3
"Oh . . . ," I sighed, tossing the apple core into the neighbor's yard. A hungry pig came up, snatched the apple cord, and ran off. "Interesting," Gaara murmured. I looked up to him. "What?"
"You ate your fill, then proceeded to pass on the food you didn't eat for the pig to devower. It's a cycle," Gaara explained cautiously, tossing his own apple. Another fat pig came up and took the uneaten apple. "It's a cycle that keeps on givin'," I finished. Gaara nodded solemnly. "Your fighting skills with Ino weren't that bad," He complemented quietly. We both glanced down to the sleeping Ino. She had laied under that tree almost an hour ago. I smiled gently. "Poor Ino . . . She hasn't worked that hard since the 2nd exam."
"That was to easy,"
"Yeah, I was a little afraid though," I said shyly. Gaara looked at me with curiosity. I just took out a kunai and began to weight it on a finger. "Well, when I was really little, I had came here for a small business order with my parents for a treaty between Kohona and the Volcano Village. I had wondered off and met people, than got lost in the forest. There I had nearly got eaten by an overgrown snake. So I've been terrify ever since." The quiet breez blew some of my hair away from my face. I brushed it behind my ear and noticed Gaara was starring at me.4
My skin turned light pink. "An overgrown snake? What do you mean?" I took a deep breath. "It was huge, way more big than I thought a snake would grow. It's taller than the freakin' Hokage Tower!" I remembered horrifyingly. Gaara placed a hand against my shoulder and peered into my eyes. I blinked a few times and forgotten where I was. "Sorry... That happens sometimes," I said, giggling. He nodded and moved some hair away from my eyes. "Don't hide your eyes, Asura."
"U-u-uh... OK!" I pipped happily. He slid my hair behind my ear, focusing on that task, as if it was the most important thing he could ever do. I felt his cool touch against my neck when he twisted my hair to stay behind my ears. "There."
"T-thanks." I stuttered softly. His eyes trailed back to my room window, then to me. I pretended not to notice and grabbed a winter flower growing on the tree. I was about to pick the petals, but Gaara grabbed it.5
He set the flower in my hair, right above my ear. I leaned against the tree's main support and gave Gaara a caring smile. He moved his arms on each side of my face. I gulped and watched him lean down a kiss me softly. 6
My eyes widened like a surprised idiot. He pulled back and moved his hand to my cheek. He held my face in his hands for several minutes. He tried to memorize my features, expression, whatever he could. I finally came back from cloud 9 and took a deep breath. When he was about to kiss me again, Ino groaned and awoke. I didn't even blink before Gaara was gone. Ino check up in the tree and pulled me down. "Come on! I'm hungry!" She whinnied. I stumbled along with her, searching for Gaara. 7
