Gone Crazy Be Back Soon Part Eighty Two

I was in another hospital1

The room I was in was packed
With all different medical personal
There was an oxygen mask on my face
An IV in each arm and sticky pads on my chest2

My bathing suit was gone and I was covered in
A thin hospital gown that was open in the back
And oh man I had another thermometer in me
I cringed because it was in my bottom 3

“Her eyes are open, she’s awake”4

Someone was saying5

My mom came over to my side
And squeezed my hand6

“How long was I unconscious for?”7

I asked her8

“A little more than an hour,”9

She told me explaining that
They had called 911 as soon as
They got to the motel and that
I had been at the hospital about
Twenty minutes or so by then10

“They had a hard time getting the IV in. they tried for a while in the ambulance but they couldn’t get it in. It took them a while here too.”11

My mom explained
When she saw me staring
At the large blossoming bruises
Coating my hands and arms12

It took a while but slowly the room emptied out
Until one doctor was left to talk to us
He explained that they weren’t sure
What had happened but that I might have
had some type of seizures or a series of them13

They were going to admit me to watch me overnight
Because my heart rate was still abnormally fast and
Because I had been unconscious for such a long time14

I was in the hospital for four days
And hooked up to a heart monitor
For three of those days because of
The tachycardia (the name for my fast pulse)
They also explained what the Motrin
Was doing to my already sensitive stomach15

We stopped the Motrin but I was still having trouble
Eating and drinking even when I wasn’t taking it
They did all sorts of testing at the hospital and
Finally decided that I hadn’t had a seizure but
They weren’t sure what had caused the problem
The day that we were supposed to go home
I was discharged from the hospital 16

I was still dizzy17

And feeling on the verge of passing out
Pretty much constantly when we went home
At home I tried to quell my parent’s worries
By eating an Italian ice but I couldn’t even finish half18

By that point in the summer
Not only did I feel physically sick
But I was also a bundle of nerves19

A few days after we arrived home
I was so dizzy that I once again
Couldn’t even leave the couch
I was so sick of being stuck
In one location that I kept
Trying to walk and I kept
Passing out and hitting various
Body part including my head
On the unforgiving wood floor20

My dad yelled at me because he was
Just as sick of everything as I was
I kept telling him that something was wrong
And that I needed to go to the hospital21

My dad refused to take me there
He refused to call 911 as well
I was terrified and desperate
I was breathing so fast that my limbs tingled
Which only made my physical condition
Seem even scarier and more serious22

At one point that morning I called 911
But then my dad hung up the phone on my
The emergency dispatcher called back a
And my dad said that I was just having
Psychological problems and that we
Didn’t really need an ambulance23

I was just lying on the floor
Scared out of my mind
Not knowing what was going to happen
And furious with my dad who wouldn’t help24

At some point my mom came home
She gave me some anxiety medicine
To help me calm down from what
My parents thought was purely psychological
I swallowed the pill because I was very anxious
And worked up by my parents at that point25

My mom finally agreed to take me to see Dr. Kimmens
I was able to walk into the building with my mom
Supporting virtually all of my body weight but
When we got into the elevator the dizziness
Got way too intense and the next thing I knew
I was on the floor with my elbow bleeding
The elevator door was open and we were on
The right floor with three or four nurses there
Trying to wake me up and get me off the floor
The nurses had brought a wheel chair and helped
Me get on my feet and get into the wheelchair
They wheeled me into the waiting room and
One of them got me a blanket because I couldn’t
Stop shivering even though this time I wasn’t cold26

My usual nurse took me back to the exam room
Almost right away she told me that Dr. Kimmens
Wasn’t in that day but that one of her partners
Would be coming in to examine me shortly27

She helped me up to the exam table
And we went through the usual routine
She took my blood pressure laying down
Then she took it while I was sitting down
And finally she helped me stand up28

I didn’t what my blood pressure was
But after she took it while I was standing
She made a funny expression and then said29

“You need to sit back down in the wheelchair and whatever you do don’t stand back up. The doctor will be in shortly.”30

I just nodded at the nurse
The world felt like it was
Spinning around me in circles
My chest hurt a little
And I felt like I was falling
Even while I was sitting 31

I had no strength left in me
I ended up leaning my head
Back against the handle
On the wheel chair because
I didn’t even have the energy
To hold myself upright anymore32

im basically just saying the same thing over again but i do know how it feels to not even be able to stand up for fear of fainting. i used to get that all the time. but now i had an operation and im all better, so maybe it has something to do with her head? something completely different. i dont understand why cassie's parents(especially her dad) think that its something pschycoligical when its clear its something physical. i just dont get it
