I didn't know who she was, but her hair was black and her eyes purple. I thought it was weird her eyes were purple, but I forgot Dragons have to hide themselves now that the war has started. Maybe she really is a dragon, that would be nice to know another person besides me that is a dragon. After all it is difficult for us to make friends. I didn't see anyone come near her or even say hi. Well she probably wouldn't hear anyway considering she had headphones on. I decided to try and talk to her. As I walked closer I could hear 3 Doors Down blaring from her headphones. She was reading a book, so she couldn't really see or hear me and I didn't want to startle her. Thankfully she paused the song and looked up from her book.
"I could hear you through my music," she said without looking at me. DAMN I thought she must be a dragon if she could here me through her music as loud as it was.
"I'm Briar," I said
"Akira," she replied still not looking at me.
"So tell me exactly how you heard me walking over here when you had you headphones on with your music so loud?" I asked. She finally turned and looked at me. She had purple slash marks on her right cheek. I didn't gasp for my older brother had about the same slash marks (Note: it does get a little weird here
I am amazed no one has asked about it yet). He had gotten into a fight with a panther once and had barely come out alive.
"I can sense when other dragons are near me. It's nice to have especially now when there are so few of us left. I have been searching for another dragon since two years ago when my clan was lost to a pack of panthers. One of the brutes gave me a good scratch, but not enough to kill me. When I came here I decided it was a good place for cover and stayed. I don't like it, but it's one of the only places crawling with panthers and hunters. No one really talks to me, but I like it like that because no one asks about my past." she explained.
"Wow,"I said,"I just got here week or two ago, so I don't exactly know what goes on or who everybody is."
"You don't want to know anybody here. Most of them are to stuck up and snot nosed to stay out of other people's business. I'm sorry that's just the way I feel." she said clenching her fists.
"Well if it makes you feel any better this is the second place like this I have been, so I kinda know how you feel." I said watching her hands turn back to their normal color. I think she did feel better. At least I knew she wasn't going to punch me in the nose.1
I let my fists unclench at what he said. I didn't want to be talking to someone who was just like everyone else. But I had to admit Briar was cute. Maybe I'll be able to trust him better than the previous dragons I have met recently. I'd really have to test his trustworthiness, but for now I'll let him be.2
I could see she was lost in her thoughts. When she suddenly shook her head like something was bothering her."Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah I'm fine just trying to recover from my thoughts. So how long do you'll be staying here? Because a couple of other dragons have been though here, but didn't stay for more than a month. I could sense them and they left because the didn't find what they were looking for," She said.
"Oh well I guess I never thought about that. The last place I was, they kicked me out. The only person I know here is you of course." I replied wondering myself how long I would be staying. Considering there was a $10,000 price on my head at the last university. I knew that if Akira found out she would probably kick my ass and make me sure they find and kill me. . I hope the Hunter doesn’t know I am on the other side of the continent. She just looked at me not saying anything. “Well I gotta go get my classes set up before they have a hissy cow. I’ll see you later,” I said starting to walk away.
“Yeah that would be a good idea; they do get crabby if you don’t do what they say. See ya,” she said.
I walked away thinking about all she told me.
When Briar was gone I took of my headphones completely so I could hear what was going on. It was between classes and people were going back and forth. I watched them as I usually do when a guy passed and stared at me as he walked by. Normally people walk by and completely ignore me, which I have no problem with, but this guy was totally staring at me! I was kinda scared and tempted to take my stuff and run because he might be a hunter looking for dragons. I saw him stop walking to where he was going and start towards me. Now I put my stuff away and almost ran, but he caught my arm. I couldn't get away dammit! I couldn't even stuggle out of his hold he was so strong. Although he didn't look, but how could I tell he was wearing a long sleeve shirt. I looked at his face glaring at him. My expression immediately softened when I saw his eyes. They were ice blue. It wasn't a cold icy blue, but a warm welcoming blue.
"Do I know you?

i'm interested in what happens next. the last last few lines bothers me though because i feel there should be more. like you left it in the middle of a thought. Even if there are chapters i'd like to see a little more in this first segment. overall a very interesting storyline. good job.

It's pretty average. (: No offense!! I think it has an interesting plot line and I'd like to see you develop it more into a longer piece of writing and possibly into chapters. I like the way you incorporated 3 Doors Down - one of my favourite bands! But, even though it's a story and it is better to write numbers out as words, you should still use the character '3' because it is the name of the band. (:
You've done a very good job though, I must say!
Please continue... I'd like to find out what happens next!
