It's weird how your brain works. After something good happens in your life, you instantly forget it. Though the bad experiences are with you for life. It was my first day at a new school and I remember feeling lonely, like the whole world had deserted me. My one light in that day was my friend Becca. She approached me in second period Geography(YUK) and I knew from the start we were destined to be best friends. 1
About two years later, after school, Becca invited me over her house. I agreed and we went on our way. The area Becca lived in was gorgeous, lined with hedges blooming with the most fragrant flowers. I stopped to admire them, then heard Becca's familiar laugh and tinkling voice shouting "Come on, It's just around the corner!" and pointing she made her way across the road just as a car came speeding round the corner. "Becca! Stop!" I shouted. She didn't hear me of course. I ran as fast as I could, hoping to push her out of the way. I was too late though. I stood speechless, not able to move a muscle. I watched as the car- nearly swerving out of control due to the driver slamming on the brakes so hard- slammed into Becca with such force it threw her back metres. My mind was telling my body to move, but I was so in shock I didn't respond straight away. When I did I raced towards Becca and the driver of the car who was kneeling over Becca, checking for a pulse. I prayed with all my heart there was one. A look of relief on the man's face told me there was. I was over the moon.2
With fumbling fingers I dialed for the ambulance, police, family, anyone who could help me. "Triple 0, which service would you like?" a chirpy voice answered. "Am-ambulance please." i stuttered trying but not succeeding to stop myself crying. "One moment please." was the response. "I'm sorry dear, what was the address?" quickly I told her adding "Please hurry." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Becca writhing in pain. I knew I should have been there for her, I was just so terrified. Instead I hung back and rung Mum. She promised to call Becca's mum and be there soon. I sobbed a reply and hung up. I heard the ambulance before I saw it, the sight of the flashing red lights sent a shot of warmth down my spine. Becca was lifted onto a stretcher "Would you like a ride, dear?" a kind looking lady who must have been a nurse or something asked me. I nodded my reply and climbed in after Becca.
