Happy India

India is a country pillaged and invaded by every known empire in the world but India has never invaded any other country.1

Herein lies the starkness of India and in it lies its darkness.2

People here are more intent in filling up their coffers rather than do something for Her.3

There is no compulsory Military Training and putting up in the Army...its all lethargy and laxity...the only known source of entertainment to the multiplying numbers is the earliest game known to man and which coincides with India's status of being the second largest country in the world...we have one man wonders but never a well gelled team.4

Our brethren are allover in the world because they are not cared for properly at home.5

Our doctors, our software engineers, our architects,teachers..et al have left our shores because the government does little, these care even less.6

Foreigners come to India..and I fail to understand why?7

Paedophilia probably..or the cheapness of Life's luxuries in their fullest connotations of the term might be it.8

They capture India's poverty on their films mocking taunting so horribly that we forget these are humans.9

The poor people are like animals in zoos and the foreigners mere visitors..who can feed click..leave..develop..print..mock..taunt10

India's third world status is so shocking..its not!11

To think that India has so many millionaires,so many affluent people is making a direct statement that India is made up of individuals and not a collective effort.12

The civic sense in India is powerful..I can spit on anyone from the top deck of a double decker bus..freedom of speech perhaps!..loaded with the redness and the sweetness of the chewed tobacco...13

I can answer nature's call in a telephone booth!14

I can eve tease any girl I feel like as if she is nobody's property and I the sole owner!15

I can rave rant at anyone with the slightest provocation.16

India might be sad Edna but She has been raped into submission.17

Its easy to write all this if I myself do not do something about it.18

People have lost their confidence in working...they want readymade stuff..through short cuts..19

Beggars are directly proportional to the babies born so wantonly.20

Beggars are the offshoots of crime syndicates who eke out their commission from these beggars.21

These beggars have to do away with their legs else sympathy would find no place with foreigners..citizens..22

Those legs are purposely purposefully amputated..and amputated is a mild word...sometimes a hacksaw is an alternative23

But the hospitability of India will always remain..people are not antagonistic to anyone new..and this makes Her Happy India..not sad!24

I found this piece both shocking and uplifting. I am in UK and feel that we have had our pound of flesh from India. But the beauty and depth of feeling you have comes through the political and cultural points you are making. I would visit India (not for your given reason, goes without saying) but because I would like to see for myself. Maybe one day before I am much older... a very thought provoking read, shubs, love x chilli

This is very moving. I don't know a lot about the culture of India. I do know that they are peaceful and kind people but hopelessness has destroyed their will to make things better. I believe that when overpopulation occurs...the value of life declines rapidly. I am a strong believer in birth control...worldwide. Take care, Sue

Thank you shubs for your response, you are a very caring man, one that I have come to admire. My heart bleeds also my friend to think that in this day and age, the world is in such a sorry state. We are all powerless against such atrocities, unfortunately. Take care my Friend

    BEAUTIFUL AND HEARTFELT POEM

Shubs this was a stark look into your beautiful homeland India. It is hard to believe that more isn't done to help the poor and the handicapped. It is hard to understand why people stand by and watch others suffer. We saw it in the Biblical day in Rome, feeding the Christians to the lions. We saw it in WWII with the Jews and Hitler, The killing fields in Cambodia and more recently in Africa where million have been slaughtered the past few years in the Sudan and Rowonda. It so sad and horrible but no one cares while it is happening. I guess if I had to see it everyday I would be pessimistic too. Though we have poverty it is nothing on the scale you describe in India. God Bless you shubs for sharing this write and bringing to light the suffering of your homeland. Love, Sandy

    Dear shubs,
I have met many poets on here from India and they are all beautiful people, including yourself shubs, they are always polite honest people, I've come to love many of them as dear Friends. I would love to see India and not just to take snapshots of the legless. I would love to see the real culture, in fact I once had thoughts of coming to India when I was very close to one on here, but we have since moved on. Believe me shubs, we here in Australia have thousands of homeless people that sleep in parks, clothing bins, shop doorways, wherever they can to lay their heads down to sleep. I don't think there's a country that hasn't. You have written a very profound poem of your home Country. Thank you for sharing this with us shubs, I hope you and the younger generation can somday make a difference.

Well written! The problem is that people in India don't realize how horrible their condition is. They think it's all over the world. Whenever they seem to be defeaed in terms o wealth, poverty and puublic welfare, they use their rich culture as a shield! They think that they are far more superior than all others- because of their culture. CRAP! The only people who have brought about a change in India, are the ones who have gone abroad and seen other nations. Take Gandhiji for example. He was in South Africa. People will realize how miserable they are, when they actually see other countries. Indians are always satisfied with LIVING. That is not enough! They don't value their own lives....they just exist. And that dear friend, is the sad truth. A very well written piece.
