Isabella Swan was frustrated. Jacob had just spent the last half an hour yelling at her for being reckless and downright stupid with her own life. And it didn’t seem to matter to him that she was alive and well now, he was still angry.1
It didn’t make much sense to her, but for a horrible moment Jacob had thought he’d lost her and it would take a lot more than just seeing that she was breathing again to make him feel even slightly better.2
“What the hell were you thinking? Jumping off a cliff?” Jacob asked for what seemed like the one millionth time.3
“I wasn’t jumping, I told you!”4
“Oh? What were you doing then?”5
“Cliff diving, like I said.”6
“No Bells, you weren’t. You and I both know what you were doing up on that cliff. You jumped!”7
“No!”8
“He’s not worth it!” He roared at her.9
Bella is silent for a moment, her eyes that had been full of fire and of rage were now focused on the ground and Jacob could have sworn that he saw a small tear in her eye sparkling, ready to fall. “No,” She breathed. “Jacob, that’s… that’s not why I…”10
“Come on Bells, don’t lie, you know it is.”11
“No, Jacob. Please, just stop it.”12
Jacob didn’t stop though, he too was wound up and angry and “That’s why you did it. Don’t want to live without him anymore, right? Do you know how stupid that is, Bells?”13
The rage was back. “Just shut up, Jacob!” She screamed in reply before jumping out of the car, slamming the door behind her, and storming off into her house and leaving Jacob sitting alone in the truck.14

Once Bella was inside the house she ran up the stairs to her room, collapsing onto the bed. What right did Jacob have to tell her what she had done was wrong? She let out a long sigh. It was a stupid idea, she knew that now, she could have been badly hurt. Or worse.16
But she had wanted to hear his voice again and she had done, so risking her life was worth it, in her own opinion. Even if Jacob didn’t think it was.17
All she wanted to do is bang her head against the wall.18
Or better yet, she could bang Jacob’s head against the wall. He just doesn’t seem to get it. Why doesn’t he understand how important he was to her?19
He is her best friend in the entire universe but sometimes he can make her so absolutely furious!20
Bella took a deep breath in order to calm herself down, but it was no use. He mind was overflowing with thoughts of Jacob, of him and of the ‘cliff dive’ that she had just taken part in.21
Another deep breath.22
Jacob was right, the whole thing had been a stupid idea. She had risked her life in order to hear an imaginary voice. The whole thing was absurd.23
Deep breath.24
She had made a mistake, she realised. Not just with the ‘cliff dive’, but with everything. Yes, he had been oh so important to her, but he was gone now. No use in crying, he wasn’t coming back. A wave of regret washed over her as she thought about the last few months and she wished she could go back and change it all. How can I make things better? 25
As she lay on the bed she allowed her mind to play back that beautiful sing song voice that she had done all of this for. “Be happy,” He had told her earlier that day, before all the shouting had begun.26
Even now, she thought, wouldn’t he want me to be happy? Wouldn’t enough friendly emotion linger for him to want that much for me? Yes, she thought, he would.27
Deep breath.28
She was going to be happy; it was decided.29
But how?30

Jacob had given up on waiting for Bella to return after only a few minutes after all, if judging by the way she had stormed off earlier, she probably wouldn’t be wanting to see him for a long while yet.32
So he was sat on the stairs of Bella’s house now, waiting for her to emerge from her room. He had no idea how long he was sat there before he heard her door open, he stood and turned to see a puffy eyed Bella stood in the doorway.33
“Bella? I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to…”34
“It’s okay Jacob.” Bella replied, taking a step towards him, a small smile on her face.35
“No, Bells, it’s not. I shouldn’t have said what I did, I’m so sorry.” He moved up the stairs towards her as he spoke, his long legs making easy work of the steps, until he was stood right in front of her. Bella reached out to take his hand, squeezing his fingers with her own.36
“Jake, it’s fine.” She managed a smile. “Really.”37
Jacob nodded a little and smiled back at her before his drifted down to look at the floor as he struggled to think of something to say. But before the words come to him Bella speaks and he is rendered speechless all over again.38
“Kiss me.” She whispered, barely audible.39
A million thoughts flooded Jacob’s mind, but none of them seemed like the right thing to say at this moment. So, instead, he raised his hands so they cupped her face and did as she asked, pressing his lips softly against hers.40
The reaction this caused was immediate. Her hands snaked around his neck in an attempt to pull his body even closer to her own as her lips moved against his own. It was working, here in Jacob’s arms, with his lips on hers she felt… complete again. She felt happy.41
But all too soon Jacob pulled away, untangling himself from her. “…Bella? You sure?”42
“Yes,” She replied almost instantly, wrapping her arms around his neck again and pulling herself ever closer. “I love you, Jake.”43
He grinned, settling his hands on her hips. “Love you too, Bells.”44
Bella returned the grin. “Then kiss me.”45
Jacob Black was only too happy to grant that request.46
Author notes
So I'm not really a Jacob/Bella fan, but I wrote this as a present to a friend of mine from LiveJournal, she loved it and I hope you do to!
