Dragon master Aka? Not quite...

---------------------------------------1

I groaned - this so wasn't my day. I dodged and jumped as the dragon lunged for me, sharp teeth snapping at once occupied air. I stumbled as I touched ground; grinding my teeth together I balanced myself. 2

'!’ The darkness continued to cloud my mind, slowly ushering me into unconsciousness. ‘Wait. Is it weird that I can literally SEE the darkness eating my thoughts!? How is that even physically possible - Gah!' 3

I winced as pain shot through my throbbing head. “Ok - stop thinking. Just...stop.”4

'Che...easier said than done.' I flipped over my opponent's head, red hair flying out behind me like a flame. I landed a blow to its skull - Sorry, but maybe now it could share in my pain. 5

The creature roared in anger and launched its body into the air. I landed on its wide, red, scaly back and focused solely on staying upright. I had the advantage - its weak spot was at the base of its neck. I could just walk over there and finish this, if that where actually the case...now if everything would just stop spinning....6

“Aka!” I hear Shiroi cry from somewhere on the ground. I spared a glance over the Dragons’ wing, I hadn’t noticed how high we were – My white-haired friend was merely a speck on the grassy hill below. A group of multi-coloured dots ran towards Shiroi – I recognised the colours of my friends...I think. Everything was kind of a blur at this point – not only because of my skull-splitting headache, but because the dragon managed to snap my glasses in half. He’s defiantly paying for new ones, mythical creature or not.7

‘Great.’ I thought, ‘Reinforcements...This may get difficult.’8

The red beast roared again, and flipped itself over. I clung to one of the horns jutting from its shoulder blades as it continued to roll. 9

The death roll manoeuvre – just what did this guy this it was? A crocodile? 10

Sure, if I wanted to get scientific about it, Dragons were reptiles and the two species are quite possibly from the same family, but, for the first time since I was born, I didn’t want to get scientific about it. I wanted to get back to solid ground. In one piece and breathing, preferably. 11

The Dragon ceased in its roll, and proceeded to dive back towards the Earth. Perhaps my prayers have been answered? Knowing my luck today, I doubt it. 12

I slowly pulled myself back onto the dragons’ neck, still grasping the horns for dear life.13

“Off. Off. OFF!” I heard the dragon roar in my mind, “I’m not an enemy!!” 14

“I know you’re not,” I replied out loud. My head was finally starting to clear. “I’m just here to help. So please, keep the bodily harm to a minimum.” 15

The dragon growled low in its throat. “You sure are treating me like an enemy...”16

“Hey, I’m just following procedure as a S.I.T Field agent. Attack now, ask questions later.” I told the beast. “You where an unaccounted for suspicious creature – but I think I’ve got you all figured out.” 17

“Typical, I suppose.” The dragon grunted, pulling up in its dive. “You ARE the smartest of your generation...”18

“Why thank-you for the compliment – those are usually sparse, no one wants me getting a big head, now do they?”19

“Too late for that, my friend.” The dragon snorted.20

“Oh, haha. You always where a bit of a joker, Eli.” 21

The dragon cringed beneath the redhead. “So you did know, then....how long?” 22

“Ah. A week or so, I suppose.” 23

The dragon – Eli – hummed. “I never did expect to fit in here. This era is far too confusing, isn’t it?”24

“Well, yes and no. To someone like you, who has probably slept for the last 500 years or so, I suppose it would be quite overwhelming...”25

Eli took a sharp turn, directing us back towards the colourful group of specks. 26

“But I have to wonder why you did it...I have my theories-”27

“No surprises there,” Eli cut in. I rolled my eyes, 28

“Yes, alright. I get the point. It has to do with Nari, correct?” I poked him sharply between his shoulder blades – Eli dropped a few meters, shuddering. I hit a nerve, literally and metaphorically. Really, that wasn't neccissary, but I get testy when I have a headache, alright?29

“Take us down.”30

“What? No! Nari, She-” I readied my fingers for another jab,31

“Now.” 32

The decent was quick, and I removed myself – not quite as gracefully as planned – from the dragons back as soon as he made contact with the ground. I wobbled slightly, my legs felt like jelly. 33

“Aka!” Once again my name was called, as my friends rushed forward, rather cautiously mind you, to my aid. 34

“I am fine.” I said, as I regained my sense of balance. 35

“The dragon, how did you-” I cut my questioning friend, Kiiroi, off, motioning for the slightly blurred brown-haired girl standing off to the side, eyes wide. Yeah, she wasn’t so used to the idea of super-human powers, monsters of magic just yet. ‘Just wait, Nari,’ I thought, ‘you’re about to get the shock of your life.’36

Nari took a tentative step forward, “Umm...”37

The dragons’ eyes widened, and he hissed in my ear, pulling on my pony-tail with his claws to stop me. 38

“Oh, don’t be a baby.” I snapped at the beast, snatching my hair out of his grasp. My friends’ jaws probably would have hit the ground, right then and there, if their bone structure allowed it. I theorized that there were two reasons for this – one, what I had said was strangely out of character. So what? I blame the migraine. Two, I was chummy with a highly dangerous mythical creature that was usually characterized with ‘imminent death’. Once again, I blame the migraine.39

Eli whined – it was an odd sound, to say the least. “Do I HAVE too?”40

I brought my fingers up again, just above his shoulder, and raised an eyebrow. The red dragon sighed, “I’ll take that as a yes...”41

I lowered my weapon. Oh, how I loved to take advantage of another’s weakness. “You’re terrifying her. Change forms.”42

Eli’s eyes widened again, jaw gaping – showing large numbers of sharp, pearly-white razors in the process. “No. Way.”43

“Do it. Now.” I said, my gaze hard. “I can poke remarkably hard, or so I’m told.” 44

Eli shuddered again, “Right. Transforming, then.” 45

My friends gasped as the beast before them was shrouded in a mystic light. The figure became smaller, more human. The light died out, to reveal a familiar looking young man, with blood-red eyes, messy blonde locks, and a neck that was slightly too long. 46

“Umm...hi.” He blushed crimson. Nari’s eyes grew wide, hands shooting up to cover her mouth. 47

“E-Eli....you’re...you’re...” 48

She passed out. 49

The dragon-boys eyes filled with alarm, and he rushed over to catch his old friend. Well, old friend if my theories are correct – which they usually are. 50

“Is that supposed to happen!?” Eli asked - bloody orbs boring into my emerald. 51

I shrugged, “I suppose. Perhaps she’s regaining her memories....” I trailed off at Eli’s sharp intake of breath.52

“Um...Want to fill us in, here, O’lord of the smartypants?” 53

I scowled at Murosaki’s nickname for me. The purple haired spirit medium was unfazed by my death stare. 54

I sighed, “I suppose we must, as my theory did just seem proven correct.” I gazed at Eli, “I don’t know all the details, but I suspect that Nari, here, is-”55

“I’ll tell them.” Eli muttered through clenched teeth, “You don’t know anything.” 56

I smiled mysteriously, “Whatever you say.” I sat myself down, head leaning against the old tree resting atop the hill. 57

“Well,” Eli began his story, “It all started about 500 years ago....”58

That’s when I fell asleep. 59

-------------------------------60

Ehehe...Don't mind the ending, I just really didn't want to spoil my other story, the one about Eli and Nari. 61

Oh wellz. 62
