Encounter with a Kelpie

There Drake was, on his first hunt. Silence. All that surrounded me. But there it was. I saw a quick, sly movement from the corner of my eye. It was a dark eyed rabbit. 1

'Ohhh, I can smell the sweet-herbs on that roasted rabbit. or the stew' I thought.3

I quickly got out my dagger and a few rocks. I started shooting the rocks at the thing. It ran quicker, and quicker, concealing itself from my view. And then it happened....It slowed down and jumped into a bush. Slowly, very slowly, I crept up closer to the bush. Then, I quickly sprang into the bush. The lush green bush filled with delicious berries. Not even looking up, I realised I was going head first into the forest. I was standing on a cliff! Thoughts ran through my mind. But one thought stood bold. 'I'm going to die'. A few hours later...I realised I'm alive. But I felt injuries. 'I definitely broke my nose' I thought. There was dried blood on my face and leg. I got a shock of pain, every time I tried to rise. Then a bird flew right over my hair. I finally stood up and looked around. The place looked gruesome. Almost every tree was dead.. The grass was dried up. There was practically no civilization in sight. In the distance I saw a small, beautiful pony. It's white stood out from the darkness which I was in. It started running toward a river, I followed it hoping to get civilization to help me. As I lost breath, I was close to the river. I rested to regain breath, and spotted a man urinating in the river in a distance. He waved to me, and I replied. Suddenly, he stopped, lost balance, and fell in the river. I was shocked. I sprinted over there and realised none in sight. Then, I felt sudden weight on my back and fell in the river. I saw the white horse in the water. Then it all came to me...that horse was a kelpie. It shape-shifted to look like that rabbit I was catching. It turned into a bird and flew away while I was falling. It became a horse to lure me here, now....I felt jolts of pain going under my stomach rising, rising..blood was flowing around me. The last things I saw was a water-horses tongue, then I blacked out. There on the surface was a dagger, a bladder, a heart, and a nicely folded human skin. They have been haunted by the kelpie... 5
