Angels Forsaken Chapter one.

There was a slight scratch on my frosted glass window. I thought it would just be a branch gone astray. But no. I realized I had no trees outside my window. So I opened my sleepy eyes and stood up, my feet burning on the cold, bare, winter floorboards. Quickly, I throw on my sea-blue dressing gown and walk carefully over to the window. Still unaware of what is outside; I unlock the latch and open my window. A cool breeze flows through causing me to shiver, as I pull my dressing gown closer, I look out the window. Looking down I start to panic, I see a strangely beautiful person. But the strange part was, she had wings.1

I start stumbling backwards as the ‘angel’ starts climbing up the side of my two-story house. At times like this, I doubt anyone would know what to do, because I doubt it has ever happened before. But of course, I just had to trip. It’s like in one of those scary movies, someone is running away from something creepy, and then they trip over. But I don’t think that they would have tripped on a pink care bear that their two-year-old sister put near my bed.2

Scrambling around on the floor, I can’t get up. My legs are too heavy; my heart is pounding a mile a minute. The next thing that happened, a long, thin, bony hand with long, sharp claws reached through the window. This made me jump up. I slam open my door, hoping it was loud enough to wake up my foster parents, Selene and Caleb. No. The thing, whatever it was, was holding the door open so it wouldn’t hit the wall. I don’t think it is an angel, I think it’s a demon. The beautiful, angelic face I saw before was gone. In its place was a ‘thing’ with small horns coming out of its temples, a long, pointed, red tail and a face so menacingly ugly that you would want to die. Eyes flaming red and black.3

Forcing myself to turn away from the evil face, I skip down the stairs taking two at a time. As I am zooming through the halls, I take a quick peek at the clock, only 1am. Caleb gets up at 5am for work. I doubt I will still be running through the halls for another four hours. I hear my name being whispered, Taylor, Taylor, the sound echoing off the halls. Stopping in mid-sprint I realize something. My name’s not Taylor. My name is Selene. My boyfriends name is Caleb. I don’t have foster parents, I have parents. I have a best friend called Taylor. But sadly, I have a two-year-old sister, Layla.4

Still standing in the halls trying to figure out what happened when suddenly; I feel claws digging into my neck. Struggling for breathe; I claw at the nails in my neck.5

“Selene!” My mother called, “you’re going to be late for your first day back at school!” Whoa, what a nightmare. And I’m talking about school and my dream. Layla skips out of her room; well she attempted to skip, but still. Before I walk out of my room, I take a look in my mirror and see two little holes in the side of my neck. I lift my hand up to touch my neck and slowly glide my hands over the holes. An electric zap flies through my body and my eyes flame red and blue. Like my dream, I thought, but in my dream, the devil had red and BLACK eyes. My whole image in the mirror changed, from normal me, dark brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, to slim figure, flowing light blonde hair. And sky blue eyes with rose coloured irises.
What’s happened to me?6

Dazed by my new beauty, I didn’t even notice Taylor was at my door saying my name.
“Selene. Selene, dude what’s with you?” She said staring at me blankly. I turn away from the mirror and pull my now burning hand away from my neck. I feel my whole body change and I quickly look back in the mirror. Back to my normal, dorky self. Well, not dorky, I’m not gorgeous, like I was just then. But I’m alright for a brown-eyed girl.7

I notice Taylor is still staring at me like I’m the new main attraction at the zoo.
“Dude! What just happened?” She yelled, actually it was a pretty quiet yell, compared to her usual loud-mouth voice.
“I don’t know, I just touched these holes in my neck and~”
“How did you get those holes?” She cut in.
“I don’t know! I had a weird dream last night and~”
“Are you saying a dream did this? What the hell are you on about?” Now she was annoying me.
“Will you let me finish?” I whispered harshly. I told her about my whole dream, the angel/devil, and I told her about my dream when the thing cut my neck.8

By the time I finished, Taylor looked like she was acting as a councilor.
“What are you~” I started to ask, but got cut off by Miss Councilor ‘shhh’-ing me.
“Don’t tell me to~”
“SHH!”
God she can get annoying sometimes. I wonder what would happen if I touched my neck again…
“Taylor,” I whispered. No response, “Taylor…”
“Mmm yes?” She asked opening her lilac coloured eyes.
“What do you think is happening to me?”I asked nervously biting my lip.
“Well, you’re a 16-year-old girl that had a dream that was actually real but still completely…unreal.” What? Does she think I am lying?
“Taylor, I didn’t do this to myself.” I said defending my dignity.
“Never said you did Selene, but I’m just being cautious.” She said walking over to me.
“Put your hand on it, see what happens.” I told her, she looked a bit scared but she lifted her hand anyway. I stretched my neck a little and squeezed my eyes shut. Don’t scream, don’t scream, I repeated to myself.9

When Taylor felt the marks, the same thing happened. An electric current sizzled through me and zapped Taylor. But instead of her changing, she yelped in pain.
“Ow! What is up with that?” She yelled glaring at my neck, “why do you change, but I get zapped?”
“How should I know? What am I, superwoman?” I said rolling my eyes.
“You sure looked like it,” Taylor mumbled.
“Ugh, whatever, c’mon we’re gonna be late for school.” I said grabbing my school bag off my bed and standing up.
“I’ll be right down; I gotta go to the bathroom.” Taylor said not moving from her position.
“Okay, just hurry up.” I said walking out. Now there’s something up with her too. Shrugging off the thought I wander down the stairs, but little did I know, we were both in danger.10

Standing outside the school gates, waiting for them to open. We start at 9:30am but the gates don’t open until 8:45am. All of the nerds go up to class and mark homework or study or whatever nerds do. But everyone else stays in the courtyard or the cave. The cave is just a really cool (not really) sheltered area where we eat.11

“Tay, are you okay?” I asked her, she looked like she had just seen a ghost.
“Uh, yeah, I’m alright.” She stammered. There is something wrong.
“Do you feel sick? You look a little pale~”
“I said I was fine!” She interrupted. I jumped slightly at the anger and protection in her voice. I felt my eyes flaming again. Please don’t tell me I’m changing again. Without thinking I jump up and sprint out of the cave and run into the girls’ bathroom.12

Yep, I changed. But I didn’t even touch my neck. It just happened. Why is this happening to me?
“Selene, I’m sorry~” Taylor started walking over to me. As soon as she saw my blonde hair and blue and red eyes, as if a gun was shot, I jumped back as Taylor’s eyes flamed red. And black. She was one of them.13

“Taylor…are you okay?” I said, but my only reply was the echo in the hollow bathroom.
“You did this to me,” She replied, but it wasn’t her voice. It was like she was possessed.
“How did I…” I broke off. I flash-backed to before, at my house when Taylor touched my neck and the electricity that flew from my body to hers.
“Please Taylor, stop.” I said calmly. Her eyes just deepened with hate and anger.
“It’s too late. What’s done is done.” She started walking towards me. I’m cornered against the solid brick wall of the toilets. My fingernails were beginning to cut into my palm.
“It’s not too late! You don’t even know what you’re doing. Snap out of it!” I hissed at her.
“Selene, I know I don’t know what is happening. It’s like I am…possessed or something. I need your help, but since this morning, I have just felt like I hated you.” That last sentence made me gasp with hurt.
“Just calm down, deep breathes. Maybe it will help. Just clear your mind, we’ll do it together.” I said moving from the uncomfortable cold wall.14

It took a while, but sooner or later, Taylor came around. Obviously we couldn’t go outside looking the way we were. And we couldn’t stay in the toilets in case someone came in. So we decided it would be best to just go in a cubicle. But it would’ve looked awkward if we were in the same one, so we went in separate ones. By the time we were back to normal, the bell signaled for us to go and have out ‘play’ break. The only people who actually play are, of course, the nerds. Mostly, people just walk around or hide behind bushes so they can use their mobiles.15

“Hey,” said a familiar voice that I know too well.
“Hey Caleb,” I said giving him a quick hug and kiss. He looked different today, same shaggy blonde hair, same light green eyes. But something was just…different.
“Are you alright Sel? You look a little pale.” He asked, ugh what do I say? ‘Oh everything is just jolly!’ No.
“Oh um, no I’m fine. I think.” I stammered. He just nodded. When he wasn’t looking, me and Taylor shared an uneasy glance and quickly walked off to class.16

Author notes

Okay, I have been working on this chapter for a couple of weeks now, (I have been hand-writing it and I typed today) But I'm not sure if they grammar is good. Could it use any editing? Should I continue to do the second chapter?

  • I liked it! Second chapter

  • Okay, this is good, like really good and very very interesting. But I suggest clicking that enter button one more between the speech.

    Like this:

So yeah, just break them down into separate paragraphs, not lines. But other than that, very interesting, I'd definitely be interested in a chapter two.
