Inside A Dream

She wandered the forest alone living with a broken heart,1

Her mind her only companion, if only life again would start.2

Coming across a simple bridge she’d never seen before3

Water softly cascading the rocks, its trickle lulls her4

to dreams of lore…5

Another morn’ crisp with the chill of autumns kiss,6

lovely landscape painted in hues of spice and nutmeg7

the fair maid having escaped the chaos of the castle8

sits quietly on the bank of the stream watching playful9

antics of the squirrels by waters edge, wondering if she10

will ever meet her prince. One that will cherish her. 11

One that’s ruggedly handsome and strong with a smile12

that shines from his eyes, and who'll teach her the real13

meaning of love. To whisk her off to a land far away14

from the teaming throng…15

Dark forest surrounds him, a lonely rider on an even16

lonelier trail. With no hope of a glorious horizon.17

His life filled only by an empty space. A humble spirit18

always helping those he meets on the street with the wind19

as his only companion, he searches for happiness at the20

end of his trail.21

Dragons, trolls and demons of evil that stand in his way,22

he banishes forever. Innocent souls can call upon him23

in favour of heaven, he won’t let them fall.24

Still no one sees the pain he keeps hidden inside, longing25

for his lovely maiden with skin as fair as blossoms in spring,26

and lips as soft as petals that taste like the sweetest honey.27

One to complete his being, the other half of his soul.28

This dream that taunts him and calls to his mind while he29

follows his trail onward.30

Gray clouds are haunting him, swirling above.31

Will he ever meet this angel?32

Or will he have to tell this dream goodbye…33

Shadows fall betwixt trees, un-nerving. 34

His sword held at the ready to slay whatever evils 35

may leap from the morning mist. He laughs at himself for36

these silly fears and the sound of running water catches37

his ears. He heads in its direction, finding a bridge38

at the end of the trail. He crosses it and spots the most39

loveliest vision standing at the waters edge.40

Who is this creature of the morning with hair afire41

in the early morning sun?…42

The sound of hoofs clip clopping across the stone bridge43

break her from her meandering thoughts. Deep masculine44

laughter is heard on the breeze and her heart flutters45

from the timbre it’s image incites. Frozen in place like46

a doe caught in the huntsmen’s stare, mesmerized by this47

sight moving towards her with seaming ease.48

He comes to her atop his mighty steed, a vision from out49

of her dreams. Can this be real? Or is her imagination50

again playing its cruel tricks.51

Righting herself she simply awaits this stranger…52

Time seems to stand still as he makes his way to her side.53

Slipping down from saddle staring longingly into her lovely54

hazel eyes.55

What are these tears glistening like dew on her cheek?56

Thought of actions lost on the wind, wiping them away57

from skin as soft as rarest silk and with a fragile smile58

as sweet as he has ever seen. Wanting to taste her luscious59

lips heady feelings erupt from his soul, a sleeping soul60

for so long, and in the next moment capturing her tight61

in a warm embrace. Experiencing the feel of purest bliss62

lost, in that wonderful kiss… 63

He stood before her like so many times in her head.64

Blue eyes clearer then the sky above with a haunted look65

that she knew mirrored her own.66

Her pulse races as he daringly raises a hand wiping away67

unbidden tears from her cheek. So gentle is his touch.68

Teetering on the brink of lost control, she yearned to know more!69

Could he read her mind?70

As if it was possible he takes her into his embrace,71

now lost to the sizzle of his searing kiss.72

He fills her heart with warmth and she finally knows love.73

    Women! lol

Beautifuuly written poem that strikes the imagination. I'll even admit to a mild case of romantic idealism while reading it. But you are not to tell any guys that!

Guy or gal, we all want to meet that special someone...who knows, maybe I'm a Knight in someone's eyes, lol.

Kidding aside, it's a beautiful idyll.

WAW! What a story! Great writen fairy tail. Very imaginative and perfect flowing love story. I can hear the sound of hoofs clip clopping across the stone bridge. Following verses are so simple, but in its simplicity - just perfect:

He comes to her atop his mighty steed, a vision from out
of her dreams. Can this be real? Or is her imagination
    again playing its cruel tricks.
Righting herself she simply awaits this stranger…
