“Keep it down.” She yawned rubbing her eyes. I grabbed her shoulder and yanked her from the bed. Holly cried out and fell on her butt. That’s when she noticed Decon. She shot up eyes wide. “Who is that!” she demanded, her voice reaching pitches I didn’t think she could.2
“Get her out of here.” Coby hissed as he was thrown into a bed. I winced and took a step towards him, then looked at Holly. “I will be fine. Now go!” I didn’t think, just grabbed her arm and slipped from the bedroom and out the door, not once looking behind me.3
“Again, WHO WAS THAT?” Holly yelled as we ran down the halls, her pyjama bottoms almost tripping her. I hissed and placed a finger to my lips. “Ivy…”4
“That’s Decon, remember me talking about him?” I snapped in a whisper. She looked back at the room then at me, her eyes wide. She took a deep breath and followed. I released her arm and ran down a flight of stairs, Holly at my heels.5
“And where do you think you’re going?” Page jumped from the landing we were just at and landed gracefully in front of us. I cursed and backed up into the hallway. Page’s eyes were alight with glee, like a predator that had cornered it’s helpless pray.6
“Shut it you hag!” I snapped and centered my breathing. I was going to have to find us a way out. I closed my eyes, to look as if I was thinking, while secretly I pushed out little amounts of power. I felt myself become connected to the floor below me, as I could feel my feet upon it, in ways I had never felt anything before. I pushed the power out further, feeling the air enter and exit Holly’s lungs in long, soothing strides. I felt tingling feelings run up my arms as the air became silk against my skin, I could hear Page’s quick, unnatural breaths.7
It was a high, becoming this connected to everything around me made me a little light headed, but I went on, pushing more power out, till I could feel the beings behind the doors around us, there soft, sleeping sounds. The feeling of the blankets against the ground, of water rushing from faucets, or being held within tanks. I gasped, feeling the hot air react with the cold around me, sending Goosebumps up my arms. 8
“Lovely Aunt, Ivy.” Holy snorted. I could feel her words in the air, how they formed tiny air bubbles, soft and meaningful. I held back a giggle, keeping my concentration steady. I needed to find a way out, fast. That’s when a snore caught my ear, the pitch was identical to someone I knew. That’s where we had to go.9
“Shut your trap brat.” Page hissed. I recoiled; the feeling of her words was the total opposite of Holly’s. Page’s words were sharp and jagged, sending pricks of pain up and down my arms and legs, making me feel weak and nauseated. 10
“Oh, Hell n-” I cut her off dragging her into the room across from us. It was completely dark. My concentration was lost and I could feel the power receding back into me, making me feel light-headed. I knew Page would come after us. I had to do something about that door. I threw my hands out, the door frame creaking and groaning in protest. I then slowly pushed my hands together, feeling the resistant and the walls pushed into the door, consuming it. There was a loud thud as marble hit marble.11
“AH!” a males voice yelled from somewhere to our left. A bright light appeared, nearly blinding me. I covered my eyes with my arm until my eyes adjusted to the brightness. The walls were a pale blue marble, with pictures of mountains and lakes in frames hanging from them. There were two beds and dressers, but only one of each was occupied, or had been in the last several months. The sound had come from a boy on the bed. “Where’s my door!”12
“Sorry Derak, it had to go.” I smiled brightly, ignoring his wide eyes and questioning look. Derak was sitting up in his bed, which consisted of a pale green shit and deep green comforter, with matching pillows. He was also only clothes in black silk boxers. I watched his face flush as he grabbed for the sheet. I turned to Holly, who was Justas flushed. Odd.13
“What was so bad, that you had to make my door turn into a wall?” Derak questioned as he reached for a pair of faded blue jeans. I looked at Holly who was staring at the door, well wall. 14
“Ivy’s loving aunt dropped by with her church going boyfriend.” Holly kept a straight face. I bit my tongue to hold back a fit of laughter. Holly looked back at me, holding back her own laughter.15
“What, did they try and make her go to church or something?” Derak blinked. My mouth dropped open, waiting for the just kidding. He didn’t get the joke. I couldn’t hold back my laughter anymore and nearly fell to the ground as it exploded. Holly just shook her head, rolling her eyes.16
“Ivvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvy.” Decon’s voice rang from the hallway. Holly froze and my eyes whipped on the, used-to-be-door. Derak had stopped breathing al together, his face going pale. “Come out, come out, where ever you are.” He chuckled, in a sing song voice. My breathing quickened- my heart racing. 17
“Uh Holly, he doesn’t sound very church like.” Derak gulped. I chuckled closing my eyes. Holly looked at me, her face a bit pale as well.18
“He’s not, Derak.” I opened my eyes and looked to the floor. “If Galani is hell, then he is Lucifer.” I saw a shadow move against the wall, it wasn’t cast by the light, it was at a wrong angle. It was the whisper of fabric that brought me to turn around thought.19
“Ivy, you forgot the window!” Holly squeaked as she grabbed onto my arm. My eyes widened, Decon had Derak in a chocker hold, pinning him against his chest. 20
“Hello, Ivy.” Decon chuckled, running a finger along Derak’s cheek. I made a step towards them; Decon tightened his grip around Derak’s neck. I watched Derak’s face go blue and stepped back. “That’s a good girl, stay back. Or poor little Narcona learns the truth about death.” He loosened his grip. Derak gasped for breath, his eyes wide in horror.21
“Leave him alone.” I hissed, curling my hands into fists. How dare he use Derak as bait. I felt warmth lick my fingers and released my grip. The warmth melted away. I couldn’t loose control. Not with so many people around. Decon’s eyes sparkled as he inched Derak off the bed and onto the floor. Holly and I mimicked his movements, but backwards, till we hit the wall. I cursed and ran my hands over it, solid marble. 22
“Now, return the door so your aunt can pay a visit.” He waves a hand to the wall. I urged Derak to kick, scream, fight, something. But he was frozen in fear, he wasn’t going to get himself out of this. I was going to have to do something. I lifted my hands and pressed them together, the wall shaking. I closed my eyes and threw them open, the wall easing away, the door slowly returning.23
“Good girl.” Page smirked in my ear. I went ridged as her arms wrapped around mine, pinning them to my sides. I struggled, her grip tightened. I winced and looked at Holly who was looking from me to Derak. Something in my chest clenched.24
“Holly run!” I yelled and struggled harder. Page turned around and pressed me hard into the marble. I felt something in my chest snap. I cried out and stopped moving, pain shooting up into my head. Holly made towards me. Page shook her head pressing me harder against the wall. I cried out as pressure was put on the area where the pain was streaming from. “Just go.” I chocked out. 25
“Stay right where you are.” Decon ordered. Holly never moved. I was struggling to breath; my breaths were ragged and forced. I thought I was going to die, part of me accepted this.26
“Leave her alone!” Derak struggled a bit, but he has as much luck as I did, maybe worse. Holly bit her lip, she wanted to help, but she looked so confused, she didn’t want us hurt either. 27
“Now, if you’re all done acting like children. We can get on with our party.” Decon’s eyes twinkled with joy, it sent shivers down my spine. I grit my teeth, this couldn’t be good.28
“Oh yes, because you were invited.” I snorted. Page shoved a knee in my back for a response. I groaned. Time to shut-up-before-you-get-yourself-killed-Ivy.29
“Actually, we still have one more visitor. Isn’t that right Derak?” Decon smiled. Derak went paper white, his eyes going wide. Ignoring the pain I hooked my leg behind Page’s and pulled forward. It caught her off guard and she feel backwards, releasing me. I made for Holly, but Page grabbed my ankle and I hit the ground, hard.30
“Nice try you little brat.” She chuckled and rolled over to sit on my chest. More pain shot through my body, as air left my lungs. I was struggling to breathe now, Page just laughed harder. I would have slapped her, but I had no strength. 31
“Page, she’s not to die yet.” Decon smiled. Page scowled and moved back and pulled me into a sitting position. I was moved into her lap, her arms wrapped around mine, facing Holly. “Now, Let the fun begin.”32
I heard Derak scream and returned to struggling against Page, trying to look back at him. It was useless, I was too weak, I was still having trouble breathing, and my chest felt like it was on fire. I watched Holly go paler then Derak was and back herself into a wall. That’s when I saw it. It had about a foot over Holly and was an inky brown color. White masses in its head were all it had for eyes, and a black pit for a mouth. It had no hands, only long claws attached to a flat piece of bone. It was a Dectora, Derak’s Dectora.33
“NO!” I screamed and struggled harder as it advanced on Holly. That caught its attention. It turned to look at me, its black whole stretching into a thin, curved line; a smile. 34
“It seems you two have met have you?” Decon chuckled, not standing behind me and Page, Derak not insight. I glared up at him, my attention drawn back to Holly when her screams hit my ears. She was now on the ground; blood flooded from her chest, huge gashes could be seen through slits in her shirt. 35
“HOLLY!” Tears welled up in my eyes and I struggled harder, twisting and struggling, ignoring the protests from my chest and ribs. Page kept a firm grip and dragged me to my feet, throwing me into a near by wall. I hit it with my shoulder and whimpered as my shoulder popped. I looked down to see it going for another swipe.36
“Don’t.you.dare.touch.her.” The voice was hard, and calm. I turned to see Derak standing up. “Back away from her right now.” To mine, and everyone’s amassment, it obeyed. “Get back where you belong. You are not in control. Not anymore.” It let out a howl, like screech and dissolved. I had only heard about this happening once in my life, when a Narcona gained control of a Dectora, it would dissipate, never to be seen again. 37
“How…” Decon hissed. I moved towards Holly, Page blocked my path. “No matter, this will just hurry things up.” 38
“Ivy-” The voice came from the doorway. I looked up; Anthony stood there, his face going hard. Decon cursed and Page looked scared. “Playing with children Decon?” Anthony knew him?39
“Well, seems the party crasher has joined us.” Decon turned tome and smirked. “We’ll meet again little Ivy.” And I knew he was right. Anthony made for them, but they had jumped through the window.40
“Ivy? Are you ok?” Anthony bent down to look at me, as I had slide down the wall, my legs no longer able to keep me up. 41
“I’m fine, get Holly.” I pointed to where Holly lay; she wasn’t making any sounds, which worried me. Anthony quickly Ran over to her, inspecting the damage. Derak helped me to my feet as Anthony picked Holly up, carefully. Holly whimpered and I let out a sigh of relief. She was alive. 42
“Derak, help Ivy and follow me.” Anthony ordered. Derak nodded and helped me walk. I winced with each step, as it got harder and harder to breath.43
“Derak, I, I think I broke a rib.” I wheezed out, black dots appearing in front of my eyes.44
“Were almost there, hold on.” Derak half carried me into the room. I think it was the hospital room, I couldn’t tell. 45
“What happened!” I heard a nurse, I think, cry out. I felt myself being dragged to a bed, that’s when I passed out.46
The world was back to normal, the sky was clear, my dress blue, the grass blowing in a slight breeze. I stormed towards the tree, finding her right away. She looked at me puzzled. I glared up at her, angry beyond words. It was her fault, all of this was her fault.47
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I snapped as she jumped down gracefully. “Why didn’t you tell me this was a place for the dead and not my dreams?”48
“How, Ivy what happened. Why are you crying?” She looked concerned. I hadn’t noticed the tears falling down my face, I did now.49
“Decon knows. He attacked me and my friends. I don’t know if Holly is going to live.” I fell to my knees and cried, let all the tears that needed to flow, go. 50
“Child, leave this world. Go see your friend. I will speak to you later.”51
I woke up to extreme pain. I cried out and gripped my side, to find it wrapped up tightly. Someone placed her hands on my arms and moved them away from my bandages. I struggled against them, causing more pain to shoot through my sides. The person held me down firmly, I think there were words trying to reach me ears, but the pain had created a buzzing sound and blocked it out, my vision so blurry I couldn’t make out a face. 52
“I...s..p.” I tried to push up, but the strong arms held me down once more. I cried out as my ribs ached for me to stop moving, but I wouldn’t let them win. I wasn’t just going to lay here and let them kill me. “I.y..ca..” The words were getting clearer, but I still couldn’t make out the face, my eyes were watering over too much. 53
“Let me go!” I screamed, or tried to. My throat hurt so much I didn’t know why. It was the sound of my own screaming, I was screaming in pain, that reached my ears first. I never even remembered giving my vocal cords the command to scream. The face started to come clear too, it was a boy, someone I knew.54
“Ivy, you’re safe, calm down.” The voice was soothing and I felt my body relax against the soft bed, I was in a bed. I could feel the warm blankets against my SKIN. I ordered myself to stop screaming. It didn’t work. The pain was horrible. “She needs something for the pain.” I knew that voice.55
“A…Anth….Anthony.” I croaked out, choking back my screams. His face came into view. His was pale and has little spatters of blood; he was also looking at me like a mother whose child was drowning, but with more intensity. I gasped as he placed a hand on my ribs. 56
“Ivy, the nurse will be back with pain medication. You have two broken ribs, one of them pierced your lung. They are healed, but we were unable to stop the pain.” I whimpered a bit, longing to wrap my arms around his neck and burry my face in his chest, like I used to do when we were little; back when we were close. 57
“Anth…Anthony. It hurts.” I swallowed another scream as he sat down beside me. His face looked pained as he ran his hand up and down my arm soothingly. I tried to turn over; the pain was so bad I felt like I was going to throw up. He sat me up gently, stopping every time I winced. I heaved, not having anything in my stomach, not knowing how long I have been out. He rubbed my back murmuring soft words.58
“Here they are.” A female voice from somewhere to my right rang. I felt Anthony place his hands on the back of my head, and pour a bit of water in my mouth. He dropped the pills in and I swallowed. He laid me back down. I grabbed onto his arm. He looked at me startled.59
“Don’t go.” I pleaded. His face softened and he laid down beside me. I had forgotten everything; everything was back to how it was before I came here, before my parents died. Anthony was always there for me. I needed him. I was scared. I curled into him. I felt him stiffen a bit, and then relax, as he wrapped an arm gently around my waist.60
“How long have you known about Decon.” Anthony whispered in my ear, it sent pleasure full shivers down my spine. I closed my eyes, placing my head on his chest. I felt safe here, I had always felt safe here; why had I ever thought differently. “How long have you known about your Aunt?” 61
“Since I started having dreams about them.” I murmured, close to sleep. “I would dream about them; then I started dreaming about Abigail, did you know she was the first Singari to hold the Gifts? I re lived that through dreams as well.” I felt him run his hands through my hair. “I also know why my head aches are so bad; it’s not my elemental powers.” He stopped. “It’s my gift…” I couldn’t finish, I felt so sleepy.62
“You mean like the ability to see the Otengras.” He returned to stroking my hair. I cuddled closer, sleep fighting its way into my brain. 63
“Funny, Coby never remembers what I call them, and. Why do…” I yawned, the pills kicking in. “You…” 64
“Go to sleep Ivy, the pain should be gone by morning.”65
I glared down at the blue dress, I hated it. I hated the perfect sky, the perfect breeze and that damned tree. I hated it all. I hated the grass too, and how it made it so easy to hide. I was done hiding. I needed action; I needed to find a way to fix what was done. I needed to find reality, no more hiding in fantasies. The real world was a rough place, full of broken things. I closed my eyes and held open my arms. I felt the grass slither it’s way down to my ankles, I felt the breeze become a wind, I could almost feel the white trips it made on the grass. 66
I closed my arms and I could see the clouds shadows fall over my face, making that red shine behind my eyelids turn black. I opened my eyes, running my hands over the dress. It melted into a blood red long sleeved top, with a thin see through layer of a darker red over top. I enjoyed the loose black jeans much more then the dress’s skirt, sporting running shoes instead of dress shoes. I was never a fan of dresses, preferring more comfort over flashy. 67
“What is this all about?” I looked up to see Abigail in front of me. I looked at her, my eyes flashing with bottled up anger. How dare she ask me such a stupid question. It was her fault, she should have told me. 68
“He knows. Decon knows!” I snapped feeling hot tears burn in my eyes. “He and my stupid Aunt attacked my friends. I walked away with two broken ribs, a punctured lung and am pretty sure a dislocated shoulder, Anthony never said.” She looked at me shocked. “And Holly, hell; She got clawed deeply because Decon forced Derak’s Dectora out!”69
“Ivy.” Abigail looked at me. “Have you ever wondered where you got those words from?” I blinked and looked at her.70
“What words?”71
“The words you think you make up. Decugasas, Otengras.” She looked at me. I shook my head, I mean, they just come to me. “Wrong.” So, she could read my thoughts here? Or maybe here, thoughts are the true words. “No, thoughts and words are one here. To speak is to think. Therefore words are thoughts and thoughts are words.”72
“Ok, and what does my made up words have to do with any of this.” 73
“They are not your made up words. You are just remembering them from imprints you saw when you were little.”74
“Wait, what?”75
“When you were little, you saw imprints. You were too young to remember. They would frighten you so much. I also saw you here when you were young. You made this world what it looked like, when you were four and now at the age of seventeen you have changed it. You have grown up.”76
“I, I don’t remember.”77
“It is alright. You do not have to.”78
“But…” I closed my eyes in frustration. This was all so screwed up. 79

“Mommy bought me a new dress today.” A small child giggled. She must have been four feet two inches tall, her hair done up in pink tails. She twirled around in a blue dress, the same dress I wore. Abigail smiled and kneeled down so she was face to face with the small girl. The small girl’s red hair was striking, her green eyes full of child like glee.80
“That’s a pretty dress.” Abigail smiled and picked up the little girl.81
“I saw something scary today.” The little girl hid her face in Abigail’s chest.82
“What did you see?”83
“It was a scary shadow man. He said he wanted me to follow him. He said he wanted my soul.” She started to shake. “But Anthony came. He made the scary shadow man go away.” 84
“You like Anthony don’t you.”85
“He is very nice. Even though he older then me. He is eight.”86
“But he makes you feel safe?”87
“Yes. He said he will protect me.”88
“That’s very good.”89
“I saw something else. Something no one else saw.”90
“What was that?”91
“It was mama. She was yelling at someone who looks just like mama. Said something about a Decu….Decuga.”92
“Decugasa?”93
“Yes. When I asked mama about it she said that no one used those words anymore. Said I shouldn’t use it either.”94
“She is right Ivy.” 95
“But I always see things they don’t see. Like Otengras. Mama said I not allowed to call them that. Clist likes it. So I say it anyways.”96
“Don’t tell anyone about these things you see Ivy.”97
“Why not?”98
“Because, someone could think it’s a bad thing, and try to hurt you.”99
“Anthony will stop them.”100
“Yes, he will.”101
“Anthony will make sure I safe. He promised.”

I looked at Abigail as the memory flooded back, my eyes brimmed with tears. I had started seeing them when I was little. But I pushed them away. I knew even when I was little that it was bad. I also stopped coming here after a while. I had made myself forget. But I never forgot the names, even though no one had said anything about them. Not even my mother. She smiled as me and placed a hand on my shoulder. She had tried to warn me, but I didn’t understand it like I did now.104
“You need to wake up, you never did check on Holly.” She smiled. “Don’t worry Ivy, I am always watching over you.” 105
I sat up, something slipping off my side. I turned to see Anthony. I felt myself flush, remembering my actions before falling asleep. He looked peaceful, with his chest rising and falling rhythmically. I had the urge to play with his hair. I pulled my hand back quickly, as I had unknowingly reached out to fulfill that need. I sighed and got up, my ribs still stung a bit, but not as bad as they had before. My arm didn’t hurt at all. I moved it in circles to make sure. I then made my way over to the bed where Holly was resting.106
“Hey sleepy head.” I heard her whisper. I sat down on the bed beside her, tears filling my eyes. “If you cry I will hit you.” I chuckled and curled up next to her. “The nurse said I will be fine in a couple of days, I guess there scratches take a bit longer to heal.”107
“The Dectoras?” I smiled and started to braid her hair. 108
“Where do you come up with those names?” She giggled and looked at me, messing up the braid.109
“I don’t. I used to hear people talk about them when I was little.” I un did the braid and started from the beginning.110
“I don’t know anyone who uses those words.” Holly smirked.111
“They were used back way in the days. My mom knew them. I learned them from the invisible people, as I used to call them.” 112
“Huh? Wait. You mean when you used to freak out in class, or when we walked past the old haunted mill, swearing you saw people.”113
“I saw imprints.”114
“Who too the what now?”115
“I saw imprints, important information. Like. Say there was a war, and many people died. I could go to the place they died and watched them die all over again, if it was important enough.”116
“How, wha…”117
“It’s one of the three Singari Gifts. That’s the reason why Decon is after me. My Aunt had one too, Foresight. Decon stole it from her, but she stayed with him because she loves him.”118
“Wow.”119
“Yeah. And now Decon wants mine too. That’s what Anthony’s here for. To protect my soul. I used to think that was a joke, now I see how important it is.”120
“Are you ok?”121
“No, I’m not. I’m scared and lost, and I almost lost you.” I buried my face in her chest and cried, not caring if she hit me. She didn’t, she rubbed my back and held me.122
“Want to sleep with me? I see Anthony is hogging your bed.” She winked. I flushed once more and curled up next to her. She smiled and petted my hair.123
“You should sleep too.” 124
“I will.” 125
“Good.” I smiled and waited till I knew she was asleep. I let myself relax. She was ok, everything was ok. Save for the fact my Aunts crazed boyfriend wants to steal my soul, I bet he wants to take over the world. I had to giggle at that, it was so clichéd. Finally I let myself fall back asleep. It was dreamless, and Brencotaless 126
