A Friend's Pain

I looked into your eyes1

and saw your answer,2

your truth,3

your pain.4

I saw the confusion.5

You have no idea6

just how well I can See.7

She's hurting you,8

I hear it in your voice,9

mixtures of pain,10

confusion,11

love.12

You take it,13

call it what's right,14

say that it doesn't hurt you.15

But you're saying it16

through a clenched screen of deceit,17

convincing youself,18

appearing to be convincing me.19

The look on your face...20

I wanted much to reach out,21

hug you,22

tell you not to keep taking it,23

go find her,24

kill her for hurting you.25

But no.26

I couldn't do any of that to you.27

You're in love,28

telling yourself taht she loves you,29

seeing love which is hidden from the rest of us,30

masked by the hurt she brings to you.31

I only hope you can soon see32

that you deserve so much better.33

She's hurting you,34

don't you see it?35

Controlling you with her spiteful tongue.36

She traps you,37

a deer under her lioness glare,38

her own insecurities shoved onto your back,39

forcing you to take them as your own,40

which you gladly do,41

still seeing stars where the daggers lie,42

unknowing what is soon to come.43

I forsee the end approaching,44

but pray it's not too late.45

But I fear that you've been lost,46

a fallen victim to her abuse.47

I'll be here,48

after the fallout,49

but what's there for me to do for now,50

if her victim still sees a goddess within her?

Author notes

For a friend who is hurting because of a relationship. If only he would stand up for himself, rather than allowing her to hurt him.
