Sight of the Forgotten

In our world of matter and logic, many put aside the thought of there being more. Such as spirits, heaven, and the mystical. But there is another world, not written in any sort of book or not told to children as stories. Instead it is seen, by the few that need it. The ones who have lost all hope and are empty in their hearts and souls gain what they need most, hope through sight. The sight of the forgotten.1

On the date of October 17, 2009, Gail Henriette Chiele tried to attempt suicide. At the age of fifteen she jumped from the thirty-fifth floor of her apartment. Two hours later, a homeless found her bleeding. He took her jewlery and purse, five minutes and tewnty two seconds later, a teenage punk found her. He called 911, and she remained in a coma for five week and three days. When she awoke, what she heard and saw would change everything.2

Gail awoke in her bedroom, eyes bandaged and body sore. She woke up two days before, and for unknown reasons, she was unable to see. But everything was gray, not black. When she described this to the doctor, he didn't know how to explain. So she was bandaged and sent home, so they would have more beds for the people who wanted to live. Not for "bratty, spoiled, attention seeking girls who have everything.." as explained by her mother. Gail groaned and turned, trying to block the memory that was pushing its way into her mind. 3

She decided she was fed up with hunger in her stomach, but as she was looking for the door, her hand grazed something wet and warm. She yelped and jumped back. Unsure, she reached out again. The same thing, but this time she felt the rhythm of steady breathing.4

"A dog?" was what she was thinking as she tried to find the head "but mom hates them, why is there one here? Ugh, wheres the damn head!?" but as she was rubbing her hands over the never ending mass of hair, her mother walked in.5

"Gail! What the hell are you doing?" 6

"M-mom! Did you get a dog?" Gail asked as the pat the hairy thing.7

"Dog? No. Why the hell would I get one, I hate them."8

"Huh?"9

"Nevermind that, stop flaring your hands in the air and get up! Jakes here!"10

With her mothers last comment, she felt the hairy thing disinigrate. Baffled, she waved her arms around, trying to locate it. 11

Her mother having no patience, grabbed her daughters arm and walked her into the living room where Gails boyfriend was waiting.
