After being consoled by Eric I felt a bit better. I still couldn't believe everything was gone and I had taken granted of it for so many years. If I could go back in time I would change that. I wasn't alone much longer when I heard a knock on the door. I tried to ignore it because I didn't feel like talking to anyone but the person knocking was determined that I answer. They kept knocking and knocking until finally I gave in.1
"What?" I asked, swinging the bedroom door open. Gramma was standing there with a cup in her hand.2
"Some hot chocolate dear?" She asked with a warm smile. 3
"NO!" I yelled slamming the door shut. I could hear her feet shuffling away. I would probably get in trouble for being rude but I honestly didn't give a damn right now. I decided I'd call my best friend Tiffany.4
"Hey Lizzy." She answered on the first ring.5
"Hey girl, save me from the hell hole I'm in please!" I begged as I explained to her about everything. She didn't respond for a few minutes so I added, "Tiff, you still there?" Then I realized she had hung up and the phone was beeping the hung up signal. Why did she hang up? Probably had no service where she was. I decided to stop being an outcast and go see what everyone else was doing. They were all sitting in the living room watching my mother's favorite movie, the Notebook. Whenever she felt like having a good cry she would watch this movie. I decided to head over to the kitchen, since I had seen the notebook more times then I could count. A girl can only take so much of the Notebook. But not in my mother's case.6
"Damnit. No signal." I said trying to text Brittany, my other best friend.7
"Elizabeth is that you?" I cringed when my Gramma said this. I hated when people called me by my full name. I decided to ignore her, hoping she would think she was just hearing things. Then my phone rang, it was Tiffany. I quietly ran out of the room and back into my bedroom, shutting the door silently behind me.8
"Hey how come you hung up on me?" I asked, as my greeting.9
"Yeah um about that..."Tiffany had such a valley girl accent. She was popular, beautiful and rich. We were like twins, until I lost it all to that fire.10
"Well?" I asked, kinda nervous to hear what she would say.11
"We um can't be friends anymore Liz. I can't hang out with someone of your state...sorry." With that she hung up. I was shocked. Of all people I didn't think she would bail on me. She was my best friend even before I had become rich, why was she suddenly caring about my state now? I figured I would be able to do what most girls do with their best friends when they go through something terrible, cry on her shoulder and eat ice cream all night long. But in this case, I couldn't. . .12
Author notes
Please comment and give me some ideas for the next chapter. I'm having writer's block with this one since I'm focused on another story.
