I sat on my front porch waiting for my dad to come pick me up. As usual he was late. It was his weekend once again and I wasn't looking forward to spending two nights at his house, especially with my step brother Jake, who I hated. He thinks he's the hottest, coolest guy ever but really he's just an ugly fatass who thinks he's all that. Luckily I had tons of homework so that would occupy most of my time, or at least I hoped. I looked up from the book I was reading and saw my dad's silver spyder convertible pull up. I placed the book back in my bag and put on my brand new huge sunglasses that looked totally hot. I opened the door and placed my bag down and sat down, buckling up and closing the door.1
"Hey Kiddo." My dad greeted me as he started to pull out of the driveway and onto the street. I hated when he called me kiddo. It was so childish, and I was 16 now. Not 5.2
"Hi Dad." I said looking out the window. I tried not to sound annoyed but there was no way I could hide the annoyance in my voice.3
"Did ya get your permit yet?" He asked. Everytime he saw me or called me, this would be the first thing he would ask. Not how are you, how was your day. No it was always, did ya get your permit yet.4
"No Dad. If I did I would have told you." I turned on the radio. My favorite song was playing and I couldn't help but smile. The song Sugar by Flo Rida always seemed to make me happy.5
"Right. Well just checking Sara. Oh by the way, Jake's friend Adam is spending the weekend too." I groaned. I hated when Jake had friends over and I didn't. 6
"The one I talk to on facebook who randomly requested me last summer?" I asked hoping for a yes. If it was the Adam who I think it was, he was hot. I could deal with hot. Unlike Jake's friend Johnny who was decent looking but not my type. He hitted on me so much one summer I just wanted to stangle him. Usually girls would be flattered when year older than you men are hitting on them but he was just gross.7
"Yeah, that's the one. I guess him and his girlfriend just broke up a few days ago." I laughed a little at this. His girlfriend was a real bitch and besides I found it funny how my dad was caught up on all the drama. 8
"The one he dated for 6 months? That doesn't surprise me one bit." I replied, putting in my headphones. I didn't want to make anymore conversation with my father and there was still a good 35 minutes to go till we reached his house. My ipod was my way of escaping the world around me.9

We pulled into the rocky driveway and I got out of the car almost instantly. I hated long car rides, they made my stomach hurt. I went upstairs to my room and put everything where it belonged. I decided to change out of my sweats and into something cuter and sit outside and read, waiting for Adam to show. I didn't want to seem too eager. 11
I read about a chapter and a half when they finally showed up. I looked up from my book and saw Adam, his curly brown hair bouncing a bit as he walked. I closed the book and got up. 12
"Hey Jake." I decided to say hi, something I rarely ever do.13
"Um hi Sara." He replied not pleased. He wasn't too fond of me either.14
"Sara Granger? The one I talk to on facebook? Is that you?" Adam asked, smiling a wicked cute smile. 15
"Yep that's me. I'm guessing your the Adam Thomas I've been talking to for the past year." I giggled a little. Jake rolled his eyes.16
"Way to be talking to MY friends online. Don't you have your OWN friends to talk to?" Jake sounded angry as he said this. He took Adam's bag and brought it inside.17
"You look good." Adam said. I must have blushed a little when he said this. We had never actually hung out or talked in person. It was always online. I had a huge crush on this kid for the longest time. I always wondered why he requested me that day, and always wanted him to like me. Maybe now was that time.18
"Thanks, you too." There was a few moments of awkward silence, something I could not deal with so I decided to start up the conversation about him and his girlfriend's break up. "So I heard you and your girlfriend broke up. What happened?" I asked, hoping he didn't think I was being too nosy. Before he had time to answer Jake came back out. 19
"Come on dude, let's go make that bonfire in the woods. Cameron and Johnny are gonna meet us there." Jake said heading towards the woods in his backyard. I cringed at Johnny's name holding in the urge to throw up everywhere. Jake stopped when he noticed Adam wasn't following him. "Are you coming?"20
"I'll tell you later. We can hang out later too if you want." Adam said to me slowly walking away.21
"Um dude no." Jake protested. He crossed his arms angirly.22
"Oh come on Jake. I haven't hung out with her before and this could be a way for both of us to get to know her. She's your step-sister. You should get to know her dude." Adam sounded annoyed with Jake. He would often IM me on facebook about how much of a jerk Jake was. At those times I loved him. 23
"How about I'll think about it? Don't get your hopes up. Now come on Adam, LET'S GO!" Jake grabbed Adam's wrist and pulled him into the woods. Jake was a bit on the bossy side. I shrugged my shoulders and went upstairs and put on my cosy pajamas. I was guessing Adam would probably talk Jake into letting me hang out with them, especially since it would make my dad and Jake's mom, Ashley happy. This was going to actually be a good night, one where I wasn't bored. Or so I hoped. . .
