Last Kiss

Oh, where oh where can my baby be? 1

The Lord took her away from me 2

She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good 3

So I can see my baby when I leave this world. 4

I was standing in front of a tombstone that had a few lonely roses laying on it. The name on it read: 'Olivia Glass'5

It had been a year since Olivia, the woman I loved most in the world, died. I missed her every day, and thought about her all the time. The severe pain in my chest that I felt for months afterwards had subsided into a dull ache.6

I could still remember what happened that night. The images started flashing in my head so vividly, it was almost like I was there again.7

We were out on a date in my daddy's car 8

We hadn't driven very far 9

There in the road, straight ahead 10

A car was stalled, the engine was dead 11

Flashback12

I was driving Olivia to the airport, because she was going off to Berkeley, while I was staying here and going to Brown.13

I was extremely worried that she was going to find someone new. It seemed to be the only thing I could think about.14

Olivia pulled me out of my reverie when she called my name. "Jon? What's wrong?"15

I smiled at her and said "Nothing Olivia, I'm just...going to miss you, that's all."16

"Jon, even though I'm going to be on the other side of the country, I'll still love you and I won't find anyone else. I promise." Damn, she could read me like braille, but hearing her say that made me feel a little better.17

I couldn't stop, so I swerved to the right 18

I'll never forget the sound that night 19

The screamin' tires, the bustin' glass 20

The painful scream that I heard last. 21

I smiled at her and turned back to the road, but there was a car that wasn't moving. I didn't have enough time to stop, so I swerved and we ended up going over the edge of the road.22

The only thing I was aware of was my entire world spinning. My and back would alternate hitting the seat.23

The car landed upside down on the street below. My head hit the roof of the car and I could feel myself slipping into unconciousness. 24

End Flashback25

Oh, where oh where can my baby be? 26

The Lord took her away from me 27

She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good 28

So I can see my baby when I leave this world. 29

I stood frozen in front of her grave as tears gathered in my eyes. It was so painful to think about, because I knew that I would never find anyone that understood me and knew me as well as she did.30

When I woke up, the rain was pourin' down 31

There were people standing all around 32

Something warm rollin' through my eyes 33

But somehow I found my baby that night 34

I woke up, and my head hurt like hell. When I turned my head I saw Olivia laying with her head turned and her eyes closed.35

I turned my body so it was facing away from the driver's window, and I kicked it out. The glass tore into my arms as I drug myself out, but I didn't care, I had to get to Olivia.36

When I stood up I noticed that the back of the car was on fire, so I went over to the passenger side, and started to pull olivia out, but there was a gas leak. I panicked and pulled her out as fast as I could.37

I carried her about 20 feet when the car caught fire. I sat down cradled her in my arms, and waited for her to come about.38

I lifted her head, she looked at me and said 39

"Hold me darling just a little while." 40

I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss 41

I found the love that I knew I would miss 42

But now she's gone, even though I hold her tight 43

I lost my love, my life that night. 44

She finally opened her eyes after ten agonizing minutes. I wasn't hurt badly, but she had blood running down the side of her perfect face.45

I put my hand on her cheek and whispered, "I'll go get help," but she wouldn't let me.46

Olivia desperately grabbed onto me quietly pleading "no, no don't go, please stay."47

"Okay, I'll stay." I finally gave in. I watched as her life started to slip away, but I kept telling her that it would be okay. In her last moments of life she looked at me sadly, before closing her eyes and falling limp in my arms.48

I couldn't believe it, the love of my life was gone. How was this fair?49

I cradled her close to me, and kissed her forehead one last time.50

End Flashback51

I turned away from her tombstone with a resolution to forget the past, and the pain. I decided it was time to move on, but I knew I would remember her forever.52

"Goodbye Olivia." I whispered sadly as I walked away from the past.53

Oh, where oh where can my baby be? 54

The Lord took her away from me 55

She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good 56

So I can see my baby when I leave this world. 57
